I've actually had a 901 feed perfectly without covering the hole, but that was with really thick juice.

The avs 901 connector used the side hole for feeding so it can be done on the ufs, but you may lose juice controll

You don't totally lose it Fright but in my experience in trying without an O-ring, flooding is 5x more likely. So I guess the term limited or finicky juice control would fit to my small expereinces.

Just easier to slap an O-ring on it and not worry!
