I keep meaning to ask how you are doing with the recuperating.
I'm doing pretty well. A little better every day.

Scariest part is over. That shortness of breath was freaking me out, making me claustrophobic, and giving me nightmares about death.

Now, I just need to pay attention, and go slow and easy.

Luckily I have a much more pleasant job now than before. I'm even free to just take off or cut back my hours any time I want without worrying about losing my job. Of course, it's only part-time. But, that's all I can handle anyway.

I'm trying to pay a lot more attention to my attitude lately and how it effects my health. It's a strange thing to try to learn kindness to yourself. Quite bizarre.
I vape Cinnabon-type flavors much of the time. No problem whatever in the Boro.
The problem is that I don't have a Boro yet. I'll have to reserve menthol for my Cerotank.
I don't think the flavors with a little cinnamon are a problem, just the ones like "atomic fireball" (very heavy cinnamon). Also, I understand banana is another flavor to watch for cracking tanks, along with citrus flavors, menthol (heavy I would assume), and cinnamon. There may be more, but that's all I can remember.
Banana is a surprise. It just seems so mild and mushy and inoffensive.

Sometimes you need the jolt to put yourself first. Baby steps and I am so glad you are on the improve.
Now do I have to teach you some attitude. :p :lol::lol:

I'm workin' on it! It's amazing what comes out when the overly serious part of me relaxes. Otherwise, I'm a horrible drag.

I used to take everything to the nth degree but I cruise now. i do get grumpy old gals attitude every so often and I have been told..... I do it well

It's a thousand little decisions to let go of things, to stop pushing so hard, to let go.

People talk about doing big, important things with their lives. My life is devoted to simply learning to let go and be myself. Doesn't sound like much. But it is!!!

So, what made you change?

I had a very stressful job that involved a lot of travelling through Asia and some very hard people management. In the end it was either relocate to HK or move on so I took a packaged and retired. Once you are out of the workforce and away from people who were as intense as you and wrapped up in the job at hand you realise how pointless the intensity was and unhealthy it is.

It's much healthier to take time to do things and to think rather than react.

The first year in retirement was quite hard. It's not easy to wind down and then I found exercise (golf) and rediscovered my marriage. We started to travel around our state and fish on deserted beaches and just generally became content.

Sound a bit mushy but it was wonderful. So many beautiful places right here in our back yard.

Sounds fantastic! That took a lot of courage and wisdom.

I used to try to imagine what I would do if I won the lottery (in an attempt to open my mind and imagine without worrying about the money/limitations). What I eventually realized is that I already have pretty much everything I want. I don't have everything I was taught I 'should' want. But, that 's a whole different issue.

All that's left is to work on my attitude and let myself be happy.

It's funny how the word happy becomes its own expectation. I like contentment. No more searching for the elusive whatever, yet open minded enough to enjoy the patches of joyfullness, the laughter that comes from the gut and the wonderment that discovering something new brings. My vague mission is to learn more about things i had never imagined. Who knew how clever we could be if we allow ourselves the freedom to explore.

I started reading for pleasure again and interacting with real people as well as folks in the vaping world.

Yes, content, at peace. Allowing the natural joy and sadness to bubble up from within. To become child-like and playful instead of childishly serious and judgmental.

I'm working on it.

And the circle is complete LOL

Your post was a much needed reminder of a meditation that I picked up several years ago. I had just stopped working, moved to the boonies and was trying to adjust from the hustle and bustle. I tried to edit the excerpt, to keep my post shorter, but it just didn't do it justice. I still love this thought:
In Micronesian, there's a word, kukaro, which has no corresponding word in English. When people say they are going to kukaro, they mean they are going to relax, sit around, and hang out. They are being, not doing.

As children, our best times are often trips to an amusement park, fishing at the lake, camping or just idly sitting under a tree. These make the best memories, and times sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows or having a root beer after a family outing seem to bring out the love we share.

We don't seem to be accomplishing anything at these times. No chores are getting done around the house, no schoolwork, no repairs, and no moneymaking.

But these times of peace, relaxation, and a sense of endless time of being, no doing, may be essential to our ability to get other things done later. Certainly, we are most receptive to our feelings, new ideas, and unplanned adventures at these moments. Maybe we should add kukaro to our vocabulary.

Thank you both for sharing... it is wonderful to 'overhear' a conversation which puts life into a better and more peaceful perspective.
