Yeah I blocked him.. Not a big deal really and that person was not the 1st to PM me anyways.. I guess he figured if he offered more he'd get priority.. He even told me to "dump the juice down the sink" because he didn't want it... LOL

It's no big deal.. Glad it's going to a good home..

Jup that's the main part, but you might be saving someone else from being harassed next time he don't get what he wants. But do what you're comfortable with.

I think he was just mad... I know these are hot items and maybe he was just upset he didn't get it and wanted to blow off some steam..

It's cool! I am retired Law Enforcement so he can't really call me any names I haven't already been called at one time or another... :D

Happy Sunday to all who are reading this, many hours after I went to bed!

I've already chatted a bit with DP & LB regarding some things for my incoming Rat Black BBox (2014 Rev-3.a)...

But I'd like to go a little more in depth, especially regarding batteries.

I'm looking for a reliable source for good batteries for this beauty!

I've learned (much to my dismay) that it does not run on dual 18350's...I haz a sad over that.

I've also learned that many people say the black AW ICR 16340(?) will not fit.

Looking online, I found rtdelectronix has the red AW IMR 16340's for less than $7/ea which is awesome!

Is that the battery I should be buying? I DO love me some AW's!!! (Provarinati here)

As always, thanks for the help!

Love this new world I just stepped into!

I buy batteries from RTD Vapor. You can message them directly about the black AWs and see if they have any that still fit the BB. Also, they will recommend the "nextbestoption" if no to the black AWS.

@HBcorpse the 16340s the <= Rev 3 takes are roughly (currently) available in 2 styles - the unprotected IMR, branded eFest, imren, Trustfire etc. - all claim to be 650 or 700mAh, all variously wrapped, some stud, some FLAT TOP - but when the wrapping is removed all appear to be the same cell(s) inside, and the slightly longer 'protected' cells, like AW, Keeppower etc. that are usually wrapped in black, but are clearly sporting a bit of extra length for the protection plate/circuit. The unprotected flat top will drop right in to a BB usually, and work fine, but might be loose, so adding a solder blob to the - terminal, or using a magnetic battery extender will make them stay in place, the stud top will fit better, usually without adjustment. The current batches of protected cells are too long to fit in without drama, and most surely will not pop out with a tap like the unprotected ones if You manage to jam them in there. If You want to run newer protected cells, then You might have to flatten the - side of the battery slots a bit to make the space - that means bending /pushing the - terminal to flatten it. You may recoil in horror at this, but if You want to use the new & available cells with protection, then You have no choice really. You COULD just find the previous generation of protected cells that were not as tall, but who wants to buy used cells when You can have a supply of new ones??

Can you show a picture to where you are referring to bending the terminal? Also, do you have any suggestions on how to do so? Thanks so much!

Here you go, @HBcorpse . These are the new "preferred" batteries, and are working very well (@Katdarling , @Freedom2Vape among others).
IMREN 16340 700mAh Button Top Battery

After many emails, etc., AW is flat-out refusing to deal with the fact that their 16340's are way out of spec. Orbtronic will tell you (accurately) that they are 35.65 long, which is accurate. RTD has not updated their site with the actual spec, but do say that they won't fit the BB). That (35.65mm) length dictates that they should be listed as 16350, not 16340. To be the latter they would need to be between 34 and 35mm long, which would fit fine into the BB.

AW said that he has many clients, far and above Billet Box users (flashlights, RC cars, etc.) who are perfectly satisfied with the specs (never actually addressing the fact that they are mislabeled). Therefore they are what they are, and the Billet Box issues are our problem, not his.

I haven't purchased an AW battery since, nor will I ever again. D-d-d-DONE with them! o_O

Yeah - I is a little peesed.

Actually, you can do that, but I believe Randy is a bit "tapped-out" with the BB issue. He got hit pretty hard by many users, which is why he updated his site with the statement:
***This battery will not fit the Billet Box***

I don't want to include a link, for fear someone might take that as a recommendation, and order those batteries. You'll see if it you go to RTD and search for the 16340's.

And not to be repetitive, but these work fine, and require no messing around:

I looked at the imren batteries but they don't ship internationally. It will leave us a bit high and dry. I will be talking to some of the flashlight battery suppliers to see if they will stick the imren batteries.

However, In an effort to future proof my battery supply I bought some of these nitecore batteries. I don't push the amps with my level of vaping so they seem ok. To be honest they are in my stash not in regular use so I can't give an anything but a casual observation.

If any of you are in an area that sells Brillpower 16340 (somewhat rare), they come recommended by both DD and Konstantinos (Atmisque).

These are what I'm now using, along with some of the older, in spec AWs. The red AWs were too short and the new black, too long. Definitely a Goldilocks moment!

I do have a few of the black AWs that *almost* fit. I can get them out if I do the tape around the batts thing. Otherwise, fuhgetaboutit!

DP, can the Brillipower be imported?

@DPLongo22 - Yes, those Imren cells are my go-to now in my BBV3.x i have not adjusted, there are dealers in Holland and Germany that i use for them, one is on eBay Items in lumenlights24 shop on eBay. and seems to know his stuff. I did find the Imren's to be exactly the same under the wrapper as the metallic orange & red Trustfires, which worried me slightly, as anything with the word 'fire' in the name should be treated with caution.

@HBcorpse - If you look at the battery bay of Your BB, you see the - terminals are spring-like, what i did was use a pliers and some cloth to gently squeeze & compress them - bit by bit until the cells went in. You can just use your thumb to press them hard, but that can get old quickly, so i used the pliers, and did it thru' a dish cloth so i didn't damage the finish of my BB. I have 4 BB v3, two totally stock that like the button/stud topped 16340, one with compressed - terminals i run protected cells in, and one with the opposite done: i pulled the - terminals out and away from the walls of the battery bay with a ceramic tool to allow the flat-top unprotected to grip nicely.

One thing - if You compress the - terminals to make space, it's not easy getting them back to their stock shape, whereas if You bend them out, it's super easy to go back to original spacing.

IMHO, the protected batteries seem to last slightly longer, and don't 'dip' as much as the unprotected as they drain, maybe this is because they have had a better life cycle due to the rapid shutdown? Maybe it's because they are just a higher grade product.
