Also feel free to test ride that baby...You wont hurt the warranty or offer I gave you...It might just change your mind on the whole deal:)

Seriously though load it up and take a toot...Enjoy it while you have it...Im gonna try and kill it when you send it back anyway....Thanks again.
Drew

You can send it to Burnt Hills and I will try and kill it for you Drew if you are too busy!!!! :)

I'd go for a replacement, and see what you think. A 2 year warranty and the performance of The Darwin is too hard to pass up. The warranty, battery technology, performance, Drew's reputation, and the experiences people have had with Evolv is why I bought mine. What do you have to lose? The Darwin is now my only mobile PV. I'm going to "classifieds" all my other mods but my desktop Reo.

Thing must have gotten hammered in the mail to have received such damage. I'd seriously think about trying a replacement. Evolv is known for overnighting replacements before the other unit is shipped back. Just a thought...

Guess what everybody??? I'M A DARWINIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't even have a chance to stalk the mailman-I ordered it Friday evening and got it today!!!!! So excited I can barely type. I also ordered some XL cartos and am loading one up with BWB ejoker (what better way to break in my humble little trinket).

Tips everybody. TIPS!!!! I was going to ask for this later on today-not knowing that I was going to get it so soon. Right now I'm off to watch nhaler's videos on getting it set up. It's plugged in as we speak and I'm 'raring to go'.....

Yeah! Hip Hip Hooray, Gone! Better than a tweezer, eh? ;) LOL!

Welcome new Darwin owners -----TIP- Use a lower nic level juice if you have it since you will be vaping hard for the next few days. Break out those old atty's that just didn't perform well anymore and dial up the wattage. That baggie full of old stuff is now a goldmine. Enjoy and happy vapes.

You said baggie.

Congrats to our new Darwinians! Try not to get nic poisoning! We have all come dangerously close on day one and two.. Also, we need to figure out some shortcuts on names here. UL2N2 and GWTW just doesn't do it for me!

Either works Kat or KD! Happy to hear you had a good time at the meet. Pics????

We had a BLAST! It was so delightful! The only thing missing was you... :(

There are pics.

I guess now I have to change up from KD to RPG (resident party girl). I'm soooooo confused. Krisb was Kris, then I changed it to Krispy, then it was KB which was changed back to Krisb... oh it's all bsirk to me.

CG, thanks for KISS.

Anyone else need a name surgery?

Received my Darwin in the post today, amazingly fast delivery. Thank you.

Very interesting device, very different then my black ProVari. I can easily find my "sweet spot" with either device. Within a very short period of time I found I liked the feel of the Darwin a bit more then the ProVari. When it comes to performance the Darwin is a vape producing monster. That having been said I must admit I do have a bit of a concern. I find a bit disconcerting the fact that when I engage the power button I can actually see the back side display light up by looking at the side of the unit. This makes me wonder about eliquid seeping into the unit, on to the electronics and taking down the device in the process. Anyone have any thoughts about that other then "Ahhh saint, don't drip eliquid on to the side of your new Darwin". :)

I've started dripping more now that I have a Darwin...

Just my opinion:
I think with reasonable precautions this will be a rare problem.
How often do you spill that much juice and aren't there to wipe it away?
Maybe if you chunked Darwin and a pretty LARGE bottle of liquid in some sort of tackle box or something and it got SOAKED for hours on end unnoticed.........

Even So:
PG and VG both are pretty harmless...I'd be more concered that spills of any magnitude capable of hurting a Darwin or anything inside it might have enough nic in it to make YOU sick while cleaning it up.

In lab tests I think they dumped mounds of e-liquid right into a Darwin and in the final analysis on wether the cost of sealing the Darwin better vs the odds of flat out replacing the one in thousands that might suffer from e-liquid saturation worked out in favor of just leaving it like it is. For such an early model, it would drive the costs up quite a bit to add production steps to seal one NOW.

Also...the electronics board and batteries themselves ARE protected from the juice.

If you're a more messy dripper and it's really nagging at you...can always get one of the Empire Mods drip shields. I grabbed one and love it, as it offers some extra bling, tightens the draw, cools the entire PV a bit, and can pull your 'over-dripping' back up for use as you go.

Another possibility is to try 801 atties on an adapter....they're made differently and overdripping to a point that juice gets out is much harder....HV 801s on a Darwin are quite a nice experience in my opinion :)

If you are so inclined to disassemble it you will see that there is a dam in there. Now if juice is running down the side and into the dial that is a different story but you would clean that up quickly since you would notice the overzelous dripping has caused the dreaded sauce hand. If there is a small amount around the swing arm housing then no issues since you need a fair amount to get past the design of the internal metal dam. BTW welcome to the club sj.

If you put any atty or carto on the Darwin is my understanding that it will know and not over amp them so they don't pop real fast? I had a vortex on my Darwin and didn't see that it was on 12.7 and hit the button 1 sec and poof no more vortex 8(

U2 - No it will overdrive and pop something if dialed way up as you have found out. What it won't do is drive somethimg below 3.6v no matter how low you drive the watts

Credo thanks for the reply in which you state.

"Also...the electronics board and batteries themselves ARE protected from the juice"

Well that sounds like my answer right there.

I share your enthusiasm for the Empire mod drip shield. I would go so far as to say it almost acts as a drip tank. Amazingly simple in design and equally impressive in performance. Again thank you for your thoughtful reply.

Liv2Ski thanks for the welcome.

I've made that mistake before as well with some LR Stuff.
I'm not convinced it was Darwin's fault tho'....because the mistake did NOT always pop identically branded/rated atties before I caught it and dialed it down.

As a pecaution...I make it a habbit to dial Darwin down before I unscrew anything, and try to remeber to check it again right after screwing on a new something. The LR stuff in particular, is designed to run at a certian watt range period....
