I think the "chip on the button" is maybe what you are referring to. SaintJ is part of your button missing where you can see the LED light up display?

Actually trying it out, I'm pretty convinced I'll be keeping a Darwin in my collection if this was standard with all Darwins that shipped.

The button on my Darwin has a missing corner as well. It's kind of hard to see and wraped under the top/foremost corner. I can tell it's the way the button cover (brass?) was stamped out.

I figured it was supposed to there.....and had something to do with the machine(s) that probably punch bunches of the buttons of a sheet of metal. (just an educated guess).

Hillock, funny I never noticed before that you can see light when you activate. Unless there is something I'm not able to see, that is just the shape of the button. When you press it, press the top part of the button, not the bottom.

Hold your darwin and press button while looking at the unit sideways (towards button). You will see the distinctive glow of the LCD screen. This is not an issue or a defect

Ok, I see what you're talking about. Other than cosmetics, that should in no way interfere with it. Of course, you always want a new mod to be blemish free, so maybe a trade in? I would probably worry about something getting in under the chip and causing the button not to activate properly. Contact evolv, either Paul or Brandon will take good care of you! Just send them an email directly through the evolv website.

I'll probably end up trading it in. Should I contact Evolv or Drew?

For a replacement, probably Evolv...
From what I've been reading on CS so far, he'd probably let you keep it and use it till your new one arrives...maybe even with a SASE in it to ship your old one back.

For a refund...I'd imagine Drew already has it sold...he'd probably love to have it in possession :)

I am about 90% sure that the button was just stamped that way. I can also see my led around the button when my unit is activated.
