Just got mine in today, man that was some fast shipping to the desert.
Really digging the case. It's like it was made to strap on the front of a ballistic vest and with the Darwin in it could probably stop a bullet by itself.
Problem: when it arrived it was powered ON in the box and the button was stuck DOWN thus sending voltage to the 510 extender it came with. Still had about 75% of battery life left on it though!
Kept clicking the button and pushing it up and it eventually unstuck and now works with no problems. Now the big problem is that no matter how "slowly" I turn the elbow down, it will turn off with the elbow less than 45 degrees of angle but when I "slowly" click it into the final off position it turns on again. And I also think I popped two ATX tanks when I hooked them up when it was stuck on (doh!) oh well. I'll eat the cost of those because it just might have been due to my stupidity. I've PM'd Drew about it to see what would be the best way to handle this. From watching his videos he appears to be an honest guy who loves this business, so I'm sure he'll help me out here with either a return-exchange or letting me "void" the warranty by showing me how to open it up and fix it myself. It's like getting that brand new toy at Christmas only to find it broken when you open the box. Someone call me a waaahmbulance.
[Insert another very sad panda here too]
Good thing I also ordered 2 drip attys. They seem to work fine but the only juice I have left is Halo juice I got the other day that all tastes HORRIBLE on the newly-primed, didn't-ship-with-primer-on-them attys. They've "steeped" for 24 hours now but still taste most craptacular on an atty no matter what voltage so that junk is going on a high shelf until I eather forget about it, it disappears, or the shack burns down rendering it all moot.
Had to use mouthwash, 2 cans of Red Bull, a Mountain Dew, and almost two whole cartos to get that horrible taste out of my mouth. [Insert very sad panda here]
I've got other, well-tested 555 juice on the way though. Too bad my stupid @$$ didn't remember to get the 510-to-808 carto adapter or I'd slap my remaining cartos on it and dial it down a bit. Next order after I get my Darwin issues squared away.
For now I've boxed the Darwin back up in the "I think it's off, at the least the screen is off" position until I hear back from Drew.
But man, the Darwin is so frickin' cool. It's one of the most SOLID mods I've ever seen. In a pinch I could probably beat an insurgent to death with it.
From now on, any juice review that says "let it steep a bit" I'm tossing on the "kick them in the junk" pile.
