Hey guys I tried on another thread here to find out if it's safe to use other USB chargers on the Darwin other then the one it comes with. My charger bit the dust, and I dont want to hurt my Darwin. I have an HTC phone charger, and a standard USB plug that says 5-12v. Are either safe to use you think?

I didn't get any responses and I'm supposed to go out of town in the morning. Please if anyone knows I'd really appreciate some help!

Thank you!

I use a usb charger on my pc and it should be the same as any other phone charger that has the mini usb. I think it will work fine but feel free to correct me if I am wrong :D

Yeah way too early. Getting my vapes in here in case it explodes or something lol

All USB phone chargers are mostly compatible, there was nothing overly special about the included charger, so I'm hoping it Will just charge up fine and I can vape my head off in the morning. I'll post when I get up!

Just got mine in today, man that was some fast shipping to the desert.
Really digging the case. It's like it was made to strap on the front of a ballistic vest and with the Darwin in it could probably stop a bullet by itself.

Problem: when it arrived it was powered ON in the box and the button was stuck DOWN thus sending voltage to the 510 extender it came with. Still had about 75% of battery life left on it though!
Kept clicking the button and pushing it up and it eventually unstuck and now works with no problems. Now the big problem is that no matter how "slowly" I turn the elbow down, it will turn off with the elbow less than 45 degrees of angle but when I "slowly" click it into the final off position it turns on again. And I also think I popped two ATX tanks when I hooked them up when it was stuck on (doh!) oh well. I'll eat the cost of those because it just might have been due to my stupidity. I've PM'd Drew about it to see what would be the best way to handle this. From watching his videos he appears to be an honest guy who loves this business, so I'm sure he'll help me out here with either a return-exchange or letting me "void" the warranty by showing me how to open it up and fix it myself. It's like getting that brand new toy at Christmas only to find it broken when you open the box. Someone call me a waaahmbulance.
[Insert another very sad panda here too]

Good thing I also ordered 2 drip attys. They seem to work fine but the only juice I have left is Halo juice I got the other day that all tastes HORRIBLE on the newly-primed, didn't-ship-with-primer-on-them attys. They've "steeped" for 24 hours now but still taste most craptacular on an atty no matter what voltage so that junk is going on a high shelf until I eather forget about it, it disappears, or the shack burns down rendering it all moot.
Had to use mouthwash, 2 cans of Red Bull, a Mountain Dew, and almost two whole cartos to get that horrible taste out of my mouth. [Insert very sad panda here]
I've got other, well-tested 555 juice on the way though. Too bad my stupid @$$ didn't remember to get the 510-to-808 carto adapter or I'd slap my remaining cartos on it and dial it down a bit. Next order after I get my Darwin issues squared away.
For now I've boxed the Darwin back up in the "I think it's off, at the least the screen is off" position until I hear back from Drew.
But man, the Darwin is so frickin' cool. It's one of the most SOLID mods I've ever seen. In a pinch I could probably beat an insurgent to death with it.
From now on, any juice review that says "let it steep a bit" I'm tossing on the "kick them in the junk" pile.

iball sorry to hear about your issues and rest assured both Drew and the folks at Evolv will make it right. I assume you are military and stationed somewhere in that huge kitty litter box in the middle east. If I can help with the juice issue just let me know. I can pretty much mix anything and if you let me know what you like I will ship some juice to you. All I need is your prefered PG/VG ratio, nic level and flavors and an address. Feel free to PM me and we can get you set up pretty quick. This really is not a big deal since I am sitting on 2.5 liters of 100mg/ml nic and have over 185 flavors at my disposal.

Thanks for the very kind and very generous offer but I already have some 555 in the mail and have 10ml of RY4 left.

I had a similar issue and emailed drew and then brandon and they explained that the way the new ones work, you have to lower the arm very slowly. I will sometimes have to rock it back and forth at the end to get it to shut off. If there are issues, I know brandon wants to make things right. I am used to looking at it as I shut if off to make sure it goes off. I also increasingly leave it on.......

No, I close it slowly and it shuts off and then when it finally, SLOWLY clicks into place it turns on again. No amount of "rocking" turns it off.

Well, tonight (it's night here now) I used the 510 jumbo carto that came with it. Filled it up with my regular RY4 juice I've been using in another PV, adjusted voltage to match the other PV and....cough, gag. Tasted horrible with more chemical taste/smell to it.
Took a long time to fill up that carto and make sure the filler was wet end to end due to the long vertical coil in it.

Right now I just don't think this is for me at the moment so I'm going to put it all away for a while, maybe a week or two, and try again some day.

dont give up, it really is simple once you get it down... try using a carto that you know works on another PV... Darwin is just a power source... sounds like you're having a carto issue. Dial the wattage down and move up slowly...
