5 to 10 ml daily and 80vg/20pg
Never really thought about it but I am guessing around 35ml per month at most.
Something here doesn't add up.
  • If you're vaping 10 ml a day, that's 300 ml per month, and a gallon of PG/VG will last you a year.
  • If you're vaping 5 ml a day, that's 150 ml per month and a gallon of PG/VG will last you two years.
  • If you're only vaping 35 ml per month, then a gallon of PG/VG will last you over eight years.
If I were you, I would buy 1 liter of PG, a couple of liters of VG, and see how things go.

That is in fact how I started.

Again, I'll repeat myself. I don't think it's necessary to stockpile big quantities of PG or VG at this time.

Do your tests with small batches, say 10 ml. Doesn't take much of any of the supplies, and will be enough to know if you're on the right track for your taste buds or not.
Let me propose something else: Make test batches without nicotine and only add nic of you decided you like the mix. That way, if you don't like the mix and decide to pour it down the drain, you're not wasting nicotine.

The 2 number dont jive. 35ml a month is only a tick over 1ml a day, I suspect you vape more than that.

OK, lets take your high end of 10ml per day.

10ml x 30 days = 300ml
300ml x 80% = 240ml of VG
300ml x 20% = 60ml of PG

Actually it will be a little less because part of your juice is nic and flavorings, but that gives you the high end of your monthly consumption.

Hooray! I stocked up on a liter of high-strength nic.
10mL/day, 300mL/mo, 3.6L/yr, @ 5% => 180mL nic/yr => 5.5 years

Now I need to find some good glass bottles to hold it all.

I wonder if Canada is going to follow the example of the EU or the US?

I have approx 2 and a half gallons of vg/pg so I am good for now. Just planning for the future. Like I said, not too concerned about not being able to get it but I am not convinced that prices won't go up as more people start diy and buying vg and pg.

I don't think it will have a big effect. Demand from DIY people will go up, but demand from commercial juice vendors will go down. Moreover, I don't think the vaping market generally is all that big a factor for either of these compounds. They are used in all manner of things from soap to skin care products, to animal feed, to processed foods.

Just seems you got to hit these vendors at the right time (and with coupons) to get good pricing. In the end, they are probably all close in pricing to one another. And for what little amounts we use it's hardly a budget buster.
    Yes, I have a separate e-mail just for e-cig related spam/newsletters.

    This.

I vape about 5 ml / day, meaning I go through about 2 liters of VG/PG per year. Cost: Under $10 if bought in bulk, maybe $25 if bought a single liter at a time, and that's per year.

FWIW, I used to spend $12 per day on on cigs.

Batteries are not under the purview of the FDA. That would be the CPSC (Consumer Products Safety Commission) who would be unlikely to want to endure the wrath of tens of millions of users of LED flashlights.

I'm surprised that lithium cells for flashlights don't come with a red letter warning about safety. Some of mine have had a printed warning in the box, but generally it's just a manual
I wish there was a simple way to calculate how much pg/vg one goes through in a month, including ones tossed and without keeping careful records.

Guess it doesn't really matter, I was just thinking about if there is a big price increase with all the crazy stuff coming up. Maybe I will start tracking.

Vaping only out of one bottle for a month makes it easier to track usage by volume. You can at least start with a full bottle and calculate a rough percentage of the total after 30 days. I vape mostly unflavored, so that makes it easy to track.

    I vape about two 4.5ml tanks a day. 9ml times 30 that's 270ml.

Couldn't nicotine just be sold as garden insecticide? I recall I was buying cigaret tobacco in 1lb bags because it was exempt from the extra tax, but then when the state legislature decided it would have the tax as well tobacco shops switched to selling bags of tobacco cut in slightly wider strips labeled as pipe tobacco which was still exempt.

Maybe they could start making non-vaping attachments for mods as well such as a moustache curling iron - I know I've been wanting one of those.

Although posted a few pages ago - I'm still trying to catch-up and wanted to reply anyway . . .

I also worry here if the act of vaping is ever outlawed (and enforced)

I can spot even a tootle puffer a mile away, and tell they are not smoking, but vaping. So I'm sure the constabulary could too

Same was said about a few items banned in the past - however, thankfully for those who choose to use these items - they found a way to either get these and/or make these same items to use back then . . . And - Today, what is humorous to "me", the same items are no longer banned in many areas of the USA . . . SO - Don't Ya' think there are many people who want/need to "Vape" will still be able to find a way too . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)
