@Bill's Magic Vapor,

I have a delima, I'm wanting to make up 90ml of sour flavor juice to add to my apple candy and grape candy juices.
Just sour. Nothing else added... I like to make a gummy flavor, just gummy flavor to add to my grape and apple from time to time.
I'm wondering if I just should mix 4% TFA sour flavor to my 50/50 6mg juice like I would do if I were making a normal 20% flavor...
I make 90 ml of apple & grape and 90 ml of gummy so if I want apple gummy candy 30ml or grape gummy candy 30 ml I can mix 15 of each to get what I'm looking for...

I could have a sour juice too... Hope you understand what I'm asking for.
Then I could have grape sour gummy, apple sour gummy... Or sour grape candy, sour apple candy...
Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Hey all...

Western Sweet
TFA Western Blend 4%
TFA Caramel Original 4%
TFA Sweet Cream 3%
TFA Bavarian Cream 3%
TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 2%
TFA Cotton Candy 2%

Look at the recipe and tell me why I taste Black Pepper...

I'm stumped. It's sure sweet and I can get the richness of the creams, but no tobacco. Just sweet Black Pepper.

(Banging my head on the table)

Interesting Felipe. Try increasing the Bavarian cream to say 7% and reducing the raspberry to 5%. Are you using TFA flavorings?

I may understand what you are asking, and the answer is that as long as you keep the nicotine level the same on each mix, you should be able to mix any two or three mixed juices together, to your taste, as you like. You'll still have to play with how much of each to mix together to get the right flavoring, but sure it can be done without a problem. You may end up mixing four parts of the grape/apple candy to one part sour, as an example, to get it to taste right. So, make some sour juice, then play with drops of each flavor combination until you find what you like So, 2 drops of sour to 8 drops of apple candy.....taste, and adjust from there. Make sense?

Maybe try more tobacco (6%?) and less creams/vanillas. Use 100 drops method until you can taste both the tobacco and the rich sweetness together. Somewhere the flavoring is not blending well. Trial and error, I'm afraid. Black pepper is a common result when the mix is wrong, just as is chemical or floral.

The only additive I have ever had any success with is salt. I have tried malic acid, tartaric acid & citric acid. I found they all mute the flavorings. As for salt (.9 saline) I never know what particular flavor in a mix it will react with so I don't even really use that too much either anymore.

I keep hearing about the saline route.... What's the scoop on this? Is it perhaps the same idea as adding a bit of salt to our sweets? In cooking/baking, that brings out the flavors and the sweet.....

From what i've read on here, you should not taste the salt from it.It is used to add moisture to keep from drying your mouth and throat out.Although i have seen some people say they tasted the salt,so i guess it just depends on how much is used and how sensitive your taste buds are.I used it once and did not notice any difference,so i figured it wasn't worth putting it in if it didn't change anything.

I've never tasted salt but then again I never used it higher than 2%.

Ok so from everything I read about it it's deionized salt at 9%, hence the name. Your also supposed to sterilize the water by boiling it. I found that it amplifies certain flavors. Can't tell you witch ones it's all about experimenting with it. I have read that it helps to keep the mouth from drying out. I've also read that bacteria like to grow in anything containing water like bill mentioned earlier. So I've pretty much abandoned saline. However I never thought to add citric acid to it. Maybe I'll try that and start using it again. Hope that helped

Thanks for that update, B. I think our taste sensibilities are very similar. Love the peach cobbler, dutch apple pie, monkey business (bananas foster), and Twinkies. That Twinkies is spot-on, so if you got something different, it's the FW cupcake. Of course, they also have the yellow cake, which I would use in a non-TFA recipe. Great report, my friend!

It is definitely the different cupcake,it's still a good tasting juice, and i will probably make it this way again, but i will be getting the tfa cupcake to try it the proper way.I got the bananas foster flavor in my last order a few days ago,but haven't got to try that one yet, that's one on the waiting list for an empty bottle, but i like anything banana so i'm looking forward to it.I agree though,i think the peach cobbler is my favorite so far,but i have to make up some peach danish before i can declare the cobbler as the winner haha, that peach danish sounds great too,so there may be a battle between those 2 for the top spot.
I mixed up the cinnamon danish the way you make it too, although i cheated a bit on that one.I had 20ml of cinnamon danish mixed as a standalone that had been sitting for a few weeks so it already had a good steep on it,i just added the bavarian cream and em to it.Not sure if this came out the same as yours, but i gotta say,it's really good this way.I'm getting a very light cd,with a very creamy taste. The cream is definitely standing out the most, which is now got me thinking of a bavarian cream juice,i've seen a few vendors selling it,and never really thought it would be good, but this one with the cream up front is really good.Once i finish off this bottle,i will mix it up all at the same time to get a proper mix to see if it is any different.

Got one question for though. As soon as my order of bottles comes in,i want to get started on several of these new recipes.I didn't realize until after i ordered, that the ones that use cherry was cherry extract,i seen cherry and all i could find was marichino cherry,so what % would you reccomend to use this in place of the cherry extract,as i've never used either one.

Both your answer and b's helped very much, thank you :) I just couldn't grasp if it was a flavor thing, or something else. Apparently not "so" much of a flavor thing, more of a mouth feel thing. Got it!

As far as bacterial growth-Ya.... I don't think I want that LOL At all!

Remove the caramel and retest. Well you know what I mean. Remix without the caramel lol

I have read from a few people that say the saline will make some flavors pop,but like i said i only used it once, didn't notice any difference, and gave up on it haha.I figured if it didn't do anything, then it was just an extra step that could be left out for now, maybe i will give it another try one day,not sure though.

Depends on which recipe, of course, your tastes, and the flavors are different too. In a recent recipe I tried the maraschino at 2% and then switched to the cherry sweet extract at 2% (but 1-2% would probably be fine), flavoring to your taste sensibilities. In a recipe like Fruit Loops, though, I've used the Cherry Extract as high as 9% with Raspberry and Orange Cream. The Cherries Jubilee also uses 2%, so I think the maraschino may be the same or a little less. My problem in that the maraschino cherry that I expect are the sugary ones that you buy in the jars for the top of my sundae or milkshake, and that's not the flavor I get here. Cherry can be tough. Sometimes the black cherry with Sweetener is closer to my mind's thinking about the taste of cherry, so it really does depend on your tastes so much. I love plain cherry flavoring myself, and it was really my first juice (made by others). I have never made a cherry yet that tasted like those bottles, and I've used FA, TFA, and LA's, and none of them worked too well for me. That was a long time ago, and I didn't know about complex mixes, so it may be different today. Not trying to dance here, I just don't really know the answer, and I do believe it will vary by recipe and by individual preferences. Good luck!

Quick update on the journey...

So I was looking for a little more depth out of recipes and I think it comes down to simple sweetening.

I've been using EM crystals as my primary sweetener (1/4 tsp in 10ml PG). Today I decided to put a few drops of TFA sweetener (which I believe is sucralose) in the remainder one I had already mixed... probably had about 15ml left.

BAM! instantly tastes a bit more moist and less thin...

edit: I think I still want to add some butterscotch to my green apple though.

Ditto on your journey enlightenments on sweetener.

I made a peach cobbler a few weeks ago.

Juicy Peach 8%
Graham Cracker 2%
Inawera (not TFA but thats all I found to use) Biscuit 3%

Peach flavor...great...but overall mix was harse and blah.....today I revisted the juice and added 3 drops TFA sweetener to the 4-mil I had left....BAM...not harsh and everthing was a smooth blend of flavors.

I never use sweetener and after reading Bill's elightening shared mixes my DIY journey will be making a hard right turn into the world of making "good" juice.

Thanks Bill....sharing your DIY knowledge has sparked me into "wanting" to make better juices now....

This is Mike's version of a popular, well-known Orange flavored e-liquid. 500 drops to nail (close enough for me). Mike? :pop:
