This is what I tried to tell her, but instead of taking my advice she decided to call me Debbie :( LOL
Well, DEBBIE (lol) I "did" agree with you [emoji12]

All joking aside, I actually didn't mix anything after the last post. Too tired, too distracted... House was empty so I decided to enjoy the quiet lol (I have hubby, FIL, son and roommate - the house is NEVER empty!) I did however get a chance to mix up Bill's Cinnamon Danish (10%). I do like it! I'd want a lil sweeter and tad more cinnamon for an ADV-but THAT is my ADV today at the fundraiser! Wooooooooohooooooooooo!

Ya know Debbie... I'm not feeling like I'll ever let you live this Debbie thing down [emoji56]

haha I forgot all about that line "Do you know how long this took to get here?" "its been like a month"

I use that mostly for mods, tanks and whatever else I can get my hands on for no good reason :p
I'll be playing on this one again here soon.I made an "executive decision" haha,to put in a few more orders today, these are all going to be from "a month ago and one free sample thrown in for the wait" haha.I went ahead and ordered the orchid v4,then decided i might as well put in another tfa order so i picked up 4oz. cinnamon,4oz. juicy peach, and a 15ml of the regular ry4 since they changed the ry4 double it just isn't right now,so gotta try the regular. Then since i started some tobacco extracts now,i decided no extract collection is complete without some good cigars thrown in there,so had to pick up a few of those as well.I just hope it doesn't all show up the same day haha.

Ok, officially caught up.

Just for Danish input (thank goodness I've another week, this weekend was impossible):

I put together a straight danish juice. No "extra" flavorings-just a base. It looks like this:

Belgian Waffle - 3%
Brown Sugar Extra - 2%
Butter - 1%
Sweet Cream - 2% (this seemed to bring everything together)
Sweetener - 3%
Vanilla Custard - 4%

I did not originally have the Sweet Cream, nor the Vanilla Custard in there. There needed to be something to round things out IMO, before, I added a filling. I'm blasted determined to make this base RIGHT before I add anything to it. It's steeping tonight, because the VC tasted like it needed a bit of a sit. I'm mixing this base at 50/50. Why? Beats me! I just like the BW flavor better that way. Just my taste buds I'm sure lol I did like 8 drops in the bridgeless atty and it "seemed" right beside the VC needing a wee break. So tomorrow morning, I will see. PLEASE-input is both wanted and needed ;)

I think I'm going to go watch movies on the inside of my eyelids for as long as I'm able, it's been a hellacious weekend. I'll check in! Happy creating!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:vapor:

About to mix this base up as provided by Reni. Anybody: ? IS THIS THE FINAL BASE THAT RENI COMPLETED? Anyone????

I'll give this a couple of hours, then start to add it to some known Danish fruit mixes that I've done before. That'll give me a good jumping off point and lead me, hopefully in the right direction. So, please let me know if this was Reni's "Final." :toast: :D

Try mixing the vanilla Custard with the Bavarian cream with the sweetener, until you find a good base cream flavoring. Something like:

Vanilla Custard - 4%
Bavarian Cream - 4%
Sweetener - 4%

Play with these three maybe changing percentages up or down by 1% until you find the sweet spot in the mix. Then add that to maybe 5-10% of any other flavoring, and you will be very pleasantly surprised with the flavoring. Should be particularly good with the raspberry or the caramel. :toast: :vapor: :2c:

A little bump for Vapbamafay, and anyone else new-ish to the party :)

I'm still learning to mix, and this is golden advice I "liked" a month ago, but didn't take to heart. I'm trying it now, and mmm... cream bases... I have yet to add anything to the base, because I just finished testing the above, as well as with Sweet Cream instead of Bavarian Cream. Both mixes great at the above percents, the Sweet Cream is a little more subdued and allows the custard to come though.

Heck, I'm tempted to mix the two 50/50 and see what happens! Then it'll be time to add in all those lovely primary flavors. Will definitely be trying with Caramel (original), as well as with some fruits - namely Raspberry, Blackberry, and Strawberry (individually). Heck, maybe this will get me most of the way to that lemon sherbet I've been dying to attempt!

It's the combination of flavors that does the trick, and in the right proportions. This takes experimentation, trial and error. Too much flavoring is often NOT the problem. Often times it is too little flavoring, or not having the right mix. Think about it this way. Sweet cream is cream and sweet flavor. Even if you use Sweet Cream, you may still have to add Sweetener or Cotton Candy (Ethyl Maltol). You need both to get sweet cream. I start with the fruit at recommended starting percentages and then add several creams and sweeteners in two, three or four steps to get it to work. Once you have a good fruit cream, you can use any fruit. Same with custards, meringues, etc. Here's a couple of examples:

Dutch Apple Pie ala mode:

Apple 12%
French Vanilla 4%
Sweetener 4%
Pie crust 4%
Graham cracker 3%
Brown sugar 2%
Butter 1%
Cinnamon .5%

Or, perhaps a custard - Mango Custard:

Mango 11%
Cotton Candy 7%
Vanilla Custard 6%
Bavarian Cream 6%

Or a Cream/Meringue Pie:

Lemon 12%
Marshmallow 6%
Bavarian Cream 4%
Cotton Candy 5%
Graham Cracker 3%

Or, how about a Peach Danish:

Peach 8%
Vanilla Custard 4%
Brown Sugar 2%
Butter 2%
Sweetener 2%
Waffle 1%
Sweet Cream 1%

Trust me, these are all very good, and you can sweeten and flavor to your taste. It's the combination of flavors that will get you where you're headed. Single flavors almost never get you what you want, so play around with them. Regards.

Back in August I posted the above to explain how the combination of flavorings is what is required to get juices to pop, to bring out the full potential of the flavorings, and showed several examples. I remember posting my Peach Danish Recipe at that time and wanted to revisit this as part of my Danish contributions to our Flavorthon! This Peach Danish was my third ADV recipe, and is still a family favorite....I'm vaping it now. :D

The juicy peach is my favorite TFA fruit flavoring and I made a Peach Cobbler ADV just before this Danish recipe. For me, close seconds for favorite fruits are lemon, cherry, banana, lime (key lime), grape, raspberry and strawberry. I also have a mango custard that I like a lot. I think when I suggested that we use fruits at 10 - 15% with the Danish bases, the fruit percentage was too high. The Peach at 8% is just right to me and falls into what I call the Goldilocks zone, not too little, not too much, but just right. :D

Since the base I use with the Peach is so similar to Reni Danish Stone, I made the Stone and added Peach at 8%, and it worked really well, I thought. Sure, I taste mostly filling, and a little base, but that's how danishes taste to me anyway, so I think it's a pretty good Danish, at least for my taste sensibilities. Reni uses the same ingredients and changed the percentages slightly to match her taste sensibilities, and this is what we all have to do to get the flavorings to work with our individual taste preferences. A one percent change in an ingredient or two is all it really takes for me to adjust some recipes to match my preferences.

Using my Peach Danish Recipe above, I made several danishes, all very similar to my Peach Danish, but adjusted the fruit percentages for each. For example, using the Danish base above I changed the peach for:

Strawberry (sweet) - 10% (started to lose overall flavoring at 11/12%)
Juicy Peach - 8% (Perfect for me, you may need another % or two)
Lemon - 12% (lemon is right, but I had to add 2% more sweetener to base above)
Raspberry - 8% (I liked this one a lot as well)
Banana Cream - 10% bananan cream/3% ripe banana)
Apple - 12% (One of my favorites too)

FROSTING/ICING

Had good luck with the Cream Cheese Icing (CCI), as well (LA). On the stronger fruit flavorings, I used CCI at 1-2% and it worked very well transforming fruit danishes to cream cheese danishes with fruit filling. Here's what worked for me:

Strawberry - 1%
Juicy Peach - 1%
Lemon - 1%-2%
Raspberry - 1%-2%
Banana Cream - 0% (did not work right for me)
Apple - 1%

You may need to adjust the fruits by a percentage or two to match your taste sensibilities. So, if the mix seems weak, add 1% or 2% of the fruit flavoring, and see if that does the trick. Conversely, if the fruit is too strong, back it off 1% or 2%, and check. The CCI is a very strong flavoring, and a little goes a long way. At percentages higher than 1%-2%, the CCI dominates for me, so I backed it down. Keep in mind, that these flavorings are going to strengthen over a day or two, so the mix might seem light out of the can, but they may be perfect for you after flavor bonding and a short steep (24-48 hours). All of these danishes are going to fall in the 20 - 25% flavoring range. That is my sweet spot on these. I liked the danishes both ways too, i.e., with and without the CCI.

I love lemon and the mix with the CCI was one of my favorites. That's something special. Just adjust flavoring to your taste, but it's in the ballpark with the guidelines above. There's absolutely nothing wrong with adjusting any and all of the ingredients above to suit your tastes. Also, perfectly ok to add additional flavorings....just be careful as we already have a pretty good taste explosion with the vanilla creams, the fruits, and the CCI. For me, just the right amount of separation, DIY's toughest, and, perhaps, most sought after goal. Separation is where the juice provides separate and distinct flavorings with two or more different nuances. These danishes have at least 3 nuances, and you may easily be able to taste more than three.

I tried the danishes with 2% CCI and no fruits. That was very good as well. I did provide a pecan Danish recipe earlier, so you can use nuts, fruits, etc. to make these delicious eJuices. Good luck and happy vaping! :D :toast:

Anyway, that's my contribution to the Danish question(s) we've been talking about for the last two weeks. :D

Reni is referring to her "Danish Stone" recipe. Some bases are made with multiple TFA flavorings and after they sit for a while, they meld into a new flavor, and this new "base" is often referred to as "Stone." Does it make any sense? Not to me, but the Neanderthals used this term long before we were born. Go figure? :toast: :D
Great thanks! I figured when she said "my base" she was talking about the base she had been working on (and on and on) I just got thrown with the DS.

Wish I had the Waffle cuz I would try and put together her base right now! Ugh always 1 flavor away....

It's funny you say that.A long time ago,i bought a bottle from wizard,it was my first time trying it and it became one of my favorite flavors. When that one got low,i ordered a bottle from bull city,it was almost clear and the taste was very lite,so i figured maybe just a bad batch, ordered another from wizard, same thing with that one, that's when i thought maybe it was really just a bad batch that went out,and figured tfa probably moves alot of this flavor so there should be a new batch by now,so i bought some direct from them, and it is the worst of all of them, this one is crystal clear, looks like water, and barely any smell.Someone posted in another thread a while back that Linda said there was no change to the formula, but it has to be,it's not even close to what it used to be.I'll try rts, hopefully they will still have some old stock,if they do i'm stocking up haha.

You also have to remember B.M. that flavor concentrates have to steep also, if Linda is making them fresh or its a real new batch it needs to steep. I have some TFA stuff that came in clear, and 6 months later its gotten dark and I haven't even opened them or had them in light.

Yeah, hopefully that's the case with the one i got direct, the other 2 sat several months with no change though.Plus the fact that my original bottle is long gone,i want that taste now haha.Like i said though,i just ordered the regular ry4 too,i've been curious to try it for a while now,so that worked out good anyway,i've tried the ry4 double and the asian, but never did try the regular version, that asian version is not good at all haha.I also found a few recipes for ry4 made with real tobacco extracts,so i'm going to try a few of those as well.Ry4 has been my favorite tobacco based flavor so far,so i plan on experimenting with every variation of it that i can.

Began tweaking the Danish recipes (for the missus). Here's her mix:

Raspberry Frosted Danish

Raspberry - 8-9%
Vanilla Custard - 4%
Brown Sugar - 3%
Sweetener - 3%
Waffle/Belgian Waffle - 3%
Sweet Cream - 2-3%
Butter - 2-3%
Cream Cheese Icing (LA) - 2%

This is delicious right out of the can. Jo loves it. New ADV for her. This is a full 30% mix now. Just a wonderful explosion of sweet delicious flavoring with nice separations. Can be used without the CCI, but it adds a lot with the Raspberry. Good luck! :toast: :D :rickroll:

I will be on that cream cheese icing very soon, given all this darn hype!

I had a good mixing day today, finally. Busy all week means no time to mix, so I spent pretty much all day tinkering around.

The final result was 4x10ml + 1x15ml juices for my mom, to be delivered tomorrow (in addition to many hundreds of drops dropped, some vaped at the moment). Strawberry cream, caramel cream, raspberry custard, peanut butter cup, and what's left of some key lime pie I made last week.

This is all possible because I learned just how easy Bill has made it for new DIYers like me to make very good juice. All the the creams/custards (save the strawberry hybrid) came from his list of custard, cream, chocolate, etc, bases. They could all benefit from a bit of flavoring to taste, but they're all extremely vapable right out of the can with a reasonable amount of primaries added.

And then today comes his dissertation on Danishes! I'm pretty sure that in the future, undergraduate students in mixology (flavor apprentices?) will be required to read that post as homework.

I know I personally praise Bill (at least mentally) several times daily, but I swear there's a reason! Very good DIY is obtainable with minimal effort; it's absolutely crazy.

I really don't mean to be gratuitous, but I would absolutely still be groping in the pitch black without the guidance. A sincere "thank you" is definitely in order.

Oh boy if you could post that raspberry custard recipe I would be forever grateful. I'm putting together my order list for all the stuff I'm going to get to start my diy journey and I intend to make every fruit/custard combo right out of the gate. Have many index cards with recipes written on them I can't wait to brew. Most from this very thread. Hopefully someday I can repay you by posting some creation of mine lol.

Also, thanks to everyone here, big shout out to bill, for inspiring me to start diy'ing. I never even considered it because I honestly thought making juice as good, or better, than what I buy would be an impossibility.

You...guys...are amazing for taking the time to share all this information and for being so generous with the fruits of your labor

I should add, my girlfriend is thankful I have been paying her more attention after work these last few nights, because many nights prior were spent reading every post in this thread lol
