I am trying to get around a 80% vg ratio but most mixes are at 25-30%+ of flavor. should I just take away flavor respectively until I can hit a higher vg mix?

You can but it will also decrease the flavor profile. If you use the calculator I posted earlier it has a function that would allow to do so across the board so that the ratios between flavors remain the same but the overall flavor percentage will decrease.

For the sake of discussion, let's say we are making 100 ml of juice. Go ahead and make the PG portion at 30% or 30 mils. To the 30 mils, add VG and VG Nicotine like you are making 150 mils. Add the two together and your 30% mix suddenly becomes a 20% mix. Easy peasy, and you don't have to work with weird fractions on the percentages. 30 mils of PG is 30% of a 100 mil mix, but only 20% of a 150 mil mix. In this way, you can keep the original formulas/recipes and make juice at the lower percentage of PG while maintain the exact flavor ratios, but at a slightly diluted amount. It may not taste as good as the original flavorings as it is diluted, but it may work pretty well on many mixes. Now you don't really need much of a calculator to do this. Alternatively, do as Dave suggested. Good luck! :toast: :D

Thanks for the replies guys re: calculator :vapor:

Have just tried again with same result file removed. Message from Norton (WS.Reputation.1) with further reading seems as if the program has not had a lot of hits, there is No mention or suggestion of it being bad or anything just Norton playing safe I guess.

I used to have norton, and when ever that happened to me, there is a setting somewhere in norton called quarantine, look for the file and click restore file thingy. :)

I can't speak for Norton but I am guessing that the only reason that Norton would have flagged it is because of a low volume of installs. I can assure you that there is no virus, malware, spyware or anything else embedded in the application.

I've been using Hotrod's program since he first posted on the forum. Not only does it offer everything I need in a juice calc, it also is fully supported, and actively developed, want a feature added? Ask, have an issue, post in the thread, response is typically quite fast.

As for Norton, people still use that? I would take one of the fairly abundant freeware AV proggies before using that bloatware, it falses on many legit programs, especially if you have heuristics enabled.

Thanks for the application HotRod, the popup message said something along those lines. I will do as suggested by Kas and look into the quarantine files and restore.
Just needed a way around the security issue with Norton, in no way was I questioning the integrity of the application.

I was using norton for years, until this year, and it did this to me all several times, and I was always able to restore it. My new program will ask me to confirm that I want to install it, rather than just putting it into quarantine.

Bill as normal your right :toast: One thing I haven't mentioned yet is the calculator I use http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/480587-new-calculator-try.html It has a really neat feature; when you review your ingredients it will show you how many recipes that ingredient is used in as well as the average amount used. Now when I get a new flavor I check for it's single use percentage then check my main recipe file which contains about 200 or so recipes from ECF and other sites to get my starting points. I then move the flavor over to my working recipe file and using those points I now can tweak it to my needs.

Anyone who hasn't tried that calculator needs to as it will do more than any other I've tried. :)

Thanks for posting this calculator again. I had seen it before but never gave it a chance until now, I had just been using the juicemeup calc.
I really love that it tracks your inventory, I just wished I had started using it earlier as my flavor collection was growing. Now I have to get caught up. It was also really cool to see that the juice I was buying for $12/15ml is only costing me 50 cents to make. I think all the flavors and equipment I bought over the past month may have already paid for themselves.

I think see how it work for a few weeks and end up donating to the developer. I love selfless developers that create free programs like that, continue to support and develop it while only asking for donations. Besides, I have to do something with all the money I'm saving on juices! :p

Another great point, and well worth adopting....

DIY is expensive to get started in. Flavors, carrier bases, glasswares, nicotine, etc. You can easily spend $100 to $500 in the blink of an eye!

So, looking at savings from no longer smoking helps to understand how to spread out the cost of DIY gear and inventory over 6 - 12 months, or so, and make purchases that approximate your savings from not smoking each month. After a few months of NOT smoking, we often can be well on our way to building our little dream vape labs. For me, I thought about my monthly savings over about a year, as a reasonable investment for my new "Hobby." Then, I lost my mind, my compulsive nature kicked in, and I was down $500, didn't know what I was doing, but was committed to the process. Good thing too!

Couldn't make anything at all, worth a hoot for six months. Then It began to click, and within three months (after the first six), I had about four ADV's. Three months later I had a dozen ADV's, and the juice was most definitely improving. As my juice improved, so too did my investment increase in DIY. Had I not been "all-in," at first, I probably would have quit. Had I listened to the old timers with long steep-time mindsets, I would not be blogging about it today. Without HFM (high flavor mixes - 20 - 30% +/-) and good juice ATM (at the time of mix), I wouldn't have ever developed any skills in DIY. But, luckily, I had that all-in investment, time on my hands, a lucky HFM and ADV, my Cinnamon Danish, encouragement from my friends on ECF, as well as family and friends, as well as my refusal to enrich my 800% profit margin juice-making friends more than I already had, plus my refusal to let this DIY thing beat me, and, so.......I didn't quit. By using my smoking savings and focusing on my new hobby, I clawed my way out of the hole. :nun: :nun: :nun:

Of course, today, it's much different. There's thousands of good recipes, many ways to make juice, many more flavorings, and most importantly......GUIDANCE! Yes, there's more information on this thread today, than existed in the entire world of DIY before! So, please, jump in, ask questions, spend those savings on this wonderful DIY hobby, try some of the recipes, read, read, read, learn that DIY is not intuitive....at first. Just go for it. Focus on using those savings to build up your inventory, your hardware, and gear. Pretty soon, everyone will be asking you about recipes and juice, and it cascades into Nirvana. Give it a go! What have you got to lose? And please don't fret over 6 mil sample bottles! :p  :toast: :D

YOU CAN DO IT!!! :rickroll:

Good luck! :toast:

We'll be watching! :pop: :pop: :pop: :pop:

I worked on my fruit and cream experiment some more this evening. The total amount of flavoring in that last recipe I posted was so godawful, I went over it very carefully, brought the main fruit flavors down just slightly, and eliminated the coconut and the ethyl maltol; neither really seemed to bring that much to the recipe, other than increasing the flavor percentage and therefore probably also the gunk-factor.

Here's the revised recipe:

TFA Blueberry Extra 6.50%
TFA Juicy Peach 5%
INW Shisha Strawberry 5%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 5%
TFA DX Bavarian Cream 4%
TFA Sweetener 5%

Which brings the total flavoring down to a far more reasonable 30.5%. I guess it's essentially Cream Fantastico plus peach, minus cotton candy or ethyl maltol. Again, the 5% sweetener is just 'cuz I love sweet; most would probably be happier with it around 2%-3%. And I still think banana would be a great addition to this, but I don't currently have any. Maybe banana cream, to add more to the creaminess factor.

BTW, it's terrific -- I was afraid that cutting down the main fruit flavors would make it weaker, but it's not, not at all, and I think leaving out the coconut also improves the TH. Of course I just mixed it a couple hrs ago, gave it a ferocious shaking and let it sit for a couple hrs; it should be even better tomorrow.

Great job Andria! A wonderful contribution. Thank you for sharing your hard work with us!

You already know this, but since you keep referring to Cream Fantastico, I'll share this with those that don't know. Cream Fantastico is a juice/flavoring that was always intended to be used as its own base flavoring, and not necessarily its own juice....alone. While it is good as a creamy flavored juice, I developed it to quickly add to fruits, pretty much any fruits, to make a finished flavoring, at around a 1/3 fruit and 2/3 CF blend. And this is pretty much how you have done it, with your own special modifications, all of which make it YOUR juice. An excellent example of how you can take a flavoring, tweak it to suit your preferences, and make it your own. I believe the credit goes to you, for recognizing all of these subtleties and mixing it to your own tastes, and thank you for sharing "your experiment" with all of us! :toast: :D

hey guys anybody tried any of these by them selves?:
Rootbeer (not root beer float just normal one)
Blue Rasberry
Citrus punch

they are all tfa i dont plan on mixing any of them do you think they will be any good
Blue Raspberry is a royal pain. Up to 12% it just doesn't taste right to me, and at 13% its like vaping grandmas perfume. I still have to try it with some sweeteners, and maybe a little strawberry, but I just kinda gave up on the flavor after I found a couple of Bills recipes that are now my ADVs.

So I have this 4 oz bottle of TPA Elderberry and got this idea to make "peanut butter and jelly" So here is my ingredients.
10% TPA peanutbutter
2.5% TPA elderberry (powerful stuff)
3.3% TPA cotton candy
3.3% TPA sweetner
3.3% TPA sweet cream

Well the end result is no peanut butter and jelly, I taste no peanut butter at all. What I got is a very smooth berry.
Not too bad at all, been using it off and on for a couple of days.

Now you are making my life much harder, I'm chasing you all over this thread to catch your recipes, and now you mention the Cream Fantastico!!!!!,
Do you have your recipes collected anywhere ( your blog maybe), as I'm just a newbie DIY and appreciate any help.
