I premix my flavors (the ones that are ADVs) for the simple reason that it saves me time when I run out and have to mix up a new batch before heading off to work or for the next day. To me, that convenience it is worth it. But there are other advantages as well.

Once, you get the flavor ratios to where you like it, it is like a recipe where you can make smaller, or larger, recipes at will. Sometimes I make 15ml of finished liquid (for friends) ... sometimes I make 60ml bottles for travelling and sometimes I even make 120ml bottles to give away to friends. Four components every single time :)

Additionally, I don't always vape in the same percentages. It could be a different atomizer that I'm adjusting for or maybe I just want a bit extra nic (although I stay around the 5mg territory a lot).

While I generally vape at a 30/70 pg/vg ratio, different setups work better with different liquids. Some tanks and clearos just work better with thinner liquid. Then I move to a 50/50 liquid. If I use a dripper, I use a heavier one. If I go sub-ohm on a dual coil I halve the nic and raise the flavor percentage (from, say, 20% flavoring to 24%) for the different temps but preserving the desired flavor profiles.

And that's usually just for my own use. I also will make liquids for my friends who vape a variety of different nic levels and pg/vg ratios... all without changing the flavor profile/recipe.

YMMV but this works out nicely for me. This is why I premix flavors in 120ml bottles and never add in any additional pg, vg, or nic to the premix.
    Fantastic post Cliffy
When I originally posted, it was simply to point out how you could save time if you have a favorite recipe with a lot of different flavors.
You brought up all the other advantages to having it premixed.
I don't mix for other vapers, as I don't know any , but even when mixing for myself, I vary the base also, depending on which mod I'm going to vape it in .. the ProVari, or Reo, as the mod and tank can and will effect the flavor.
Thank you for pointing out all of the advantages of having a favorite flavor premixed, so elegantly.
    Kudos, good job

Yes. I see now who I think he's referring to. Definitely knows some things. Lol.
DIYing is very fun. Just took me a LOT of time and I still learn things daily...
On a related topic... TFA Greek Yogurt... I actually like it. Didn't think I would.

I've been thinking about trying that one. What other flavors are you mixing with the yogurt? Care to share a recipe?

They now have a yogurt flavor?!?!?! Good. I just ran out, and really don't want to run around to various vendors. When you eat yogurt, what flavors do you like with it? Fruits, honey, etc. I am really picky about honey, seems like European-made honey flavors are much better. I'm expecting some honey flavoring from Greece some time in the next month.

Haven't been on this thread awhile, guess I missed the Drama. Thanks to everyone involved here.
Since I am so new here (DIY) I decided to return to the basics, and try some single flavor mixing instead of chasing someone else's unicorn. Don't get me wrong, I do like some of the recipes I've found. But I prefer to make it a little less complicated.
Trying some TFA Banana Nut Bread @ 5% this morning and I like it. Very Tasty. Would it be to much to ask for the Mixing Ratios that were originally posted routinely on this thread to be updated ? Or at least on what page is the most recent update ? I think I'm using the list on page 50 of this thread for now...

Try bookmarking this one, it gets updated occasionally Papaw... Flavor Percentage Recommendations I don't know how it compares to the one in the dropbox Dropbox - ECF Recipes but you can bookmark it also, plus it may be kept updated...

I've yet to try real Greek yogurt. I usually get the raspberry cheesecake yogurt from yoplait. I'm really liking the strawberry cheesecake recipe so maybe add some of the yogurt flavor might be good.

There's one thing I wanted to point out about the High-Flavor Mixing technique that gets a lot of coverage in this thread. The main purpose of it is to enable one to make good ejuice that can be vaped RIGHT NOW, without having to wait weeks or months just to know if it's good or not. When one is first starting to learn DIY, or trying out a new recipe, this is crucial -- especially for those just starting, who may get discouraged and just give up, if forced to wait weeks or months to know if what they made is any good.

That does not mean that the HFM recipe you develop has to stay that way forever -- once you get a good recipe really down pat, then you can start working to reduce the flavoring, a little at a time, to keep it tasty but reduce the perhaps-risky high levels of flavoring.

That's the great thing about DIY (among all the other great things) -- nothing is set in stone -- customize it as you please! My Strawberry & Cream ADV started out at 31% flavoring -- and so far I've gotten it down to 29% -- in a little while, I'll do another small reduction, and get used to that -- I'm working toward trying to get it down to a far more reasonable 25%-ish.

    Andria

ETA: the HFM technique is also excellent for those of us whose tastebuds are taking their sweet time coming back to life -- and if you smoked for decades, it really might take a while; meanwhile, store-bought ejuice may not taste like much of anything -- it never has, to me -- HFM has enabled me to ACTUALLY TASTE my ejuice -- over time, obviously, I may not need nearly that much flavoring.

I've experimented with the high flavor percentage mixing and not had good results. But to note I am also a high PG vaper. (65pg/35vg, 1.5mg nic) I have however, used some high pg recipes and added more base to make a vape I really enjoy. Sometimes I will look at a recipe and start deducting to get it down to 20 or so before I try it.

Everybody is different. I'm no expert, but I do feel strongly that DIY is all about finding a recipe or technique each individual enjoys, so I am very open to high percentage mixes. My comfort zone when I play in my laboratory (ok, it's a large kitchen), is usually in the 15 to 20 percent range. My kitchen drain (and thank goodness it's close) knows a lot of my DIY creations. I've been reading for a few months in this thread, and have really enjoyed it.

A great amount of my success is because I have listened (and tried to remember) to the tips and suggestions each and every one of you have made. There's not a lot (if any) of info I can add to the thread (unless expressions of frustrations count) as I really am new at this. If I can find something to read rather than ask a question then thats what I prefer. If someone needs an answer that I've learned I have no issue trying to help.

Life changes. As quickly as I have appeared here I will also be gone at some point. Until then I'm going to continue reading, learning, and cussing my sink drain.

Bill's forgotten more than I'll probably ever learn. ::: waves :::

Sir, you've reminded me of several horrid mixes I made when first starting to try to make a menthol tobacco. Vicks would be an improvement over those early mixes. I've learned a lot here but still have more to learn.
