I'm here, when I'm here
A question.. i saved bottles from covalvapes because they are glass.. is it better to use glass or plastic?
The only reason I ask is because I hear plastic sucks the flavor or of vape.. is that true?

I guess I am getting off topic.. sorry..

All I use is plastic bottles and have had no complaints

I think that's debatable but, I've not heard of flavorings "expiring".
I would agree, unless using organic or natural flavors, those may go bad since they are extracted from real foods, etc.,as far as most flavors,i have never seen any expiration dates on them.
Nicotine can oxidize and lose some potency over time, but keeping it in the freezer will slow it way down.My pg and vg both have a shelf life of around 2 years from the time i got then printed on the jugs, but i'm not even sure if they would actually be bad after that or if it's just a recommendation to use them before that.

Awesome b.m.
One last question my wife asked for now..

Is there an expire date on vape and or materials for vape?

As far as I know, flavorings do not expire unless they are extracted from natural ingredients.

Nicotine base can last for years if properly stored, and of course quality. If not in use, it's advised to transfer the contents into a glass bottle and put it into the freezer. Always keep your nicotine base in a dark cool area. I've also read around forums people having a nicotine base that tastes exactly the same after 4 years of storage in the freezer.

As far as normal VG, same deal. PG is a different story I believe, considering it's a preservative itself but the same storage procedures are the same.

Plastic bottles that are PP, LDPE or HDPE are fine to use with eliquids, if they're made to industry standards for those specific plastics. Ones manufactured in the US and/or the United Kingdom are the only ones I'll personally buy because of that. The PET bottles are not good to use though, as they're the ones that are more likely to leach plasticy smells and tastes into the contents. That's 1 reason you'll hardly ever find medicines & other chemicals packaged in PET bottles.

I am spamming this for my own reference for later..

I have have a question however.

Is there any make and vape recipes that I can try when I start making ejuice? I am researching right now and wanna buy things I will need instead of blindly going into things.. i was going to buy a kit but I see that might not be a good idea.. which is why I am here..

And to Bill.. you are an awesome guy helping people out like you have..

The best way to choose your initial flavor purchases is to find some recipes that sound good to you and then order flavors for those recipes instead of flavors that just sound good to you. As time goes by you will develop your favorites for basses etc. and you can order more on what flavors sound good based on what you have tried

Are you asking about re-using plastic? I wouldn't. If you are talking about using new plastic for your DIY, then that is fine.

No I am asking in general.. like for measuring and/or storing liquids.

2% Sweet Raspberry (this really makes strawberry "pop" - adds a bit more sweetness without overpowering the strawberry)
Good suggestion MsLoud. Tried it in a Strawberry Ripe recipe I'm dabbling with. The hint of raspberry bumped fruitiness in a good direction. Would not have thunk it. Thanks.

So a question popped in my head about nic..

What is the diffrence between say 48mg nic and 100mg nic that you can buy? As in straight nic...

Say I wanna make 30ml of bla and want 3mg of nic and I have both 48mg and 100mg nic on hand what is the diffrence between the 2?

Down load or open up one of the many e-juice calculators available and learn how they work, there are tutorials around. Once you understand how the percentages work and how the calculator works, you will have a much better understanding of how this all comes together. You should read some of the great blogs available on here (danny has some great stuff for the beginner and beyond). There are also several Utubes out there that will walk you through basic mixing.

Bill, in your opinion, is it a simple swap to Inawera ..... same percentages as TFA's sweet or ripe?
I always have to adjust percentages to taste. Every last dang recipe for me. Then again, that's half the fun of DIY...that is, getting it just the way I like it. I believe all recipes are suggestions anyway, and require adjustment to suit the individual tastes, heat, wick and coil, and equipment. It just is what it is! Good luck! :toast: :D

I wish I could help but I hate coconut. Maybe Bill or someone will jump in to answer.
I generally use only coconut extra. But, as always, we must flavor to taste, which can be done with either flavoring. Recipes are phenomenal starting places, but I've not met one that was exact for me, my vaping power, coil and wick and gear setup. All make a huge difference and require us in DIY to mix to how we're going to use the flavorings. Same is true of all the recipes I've ever made. They work great for me in my gear at my standard 11 watts, but they would all require adjustment if I changed my setups and heat settings. True for all of us. Good luck! :toast: :D

Regarding the use of plastics, there are many differences that have been pointed out previously. However, if you are using tank cracking flavorings, they will eventually cause the plastic to leach into the mixture. May take a long time, just depends on the plastics and the flavorings. Non-tank cracking flavorings are going to last a very long time in the approved plastic bottles, and probably will outlast the life of the juice. Also, how juices are stored will affect the leaching properties, as well.

While very expensive, I decided along the way to only use glass on everything, and, over time, moved completely away from all plastics. I still have hundreds of plastic "sampler" bottles, because I'm just giving away a small batch, but try to use glass with everything. One of those safety first issues, all dependent on how you use your gear, juices, timing, storage, heat, flavorings, etc. And, yes, refrigeration/freezer also changes the equation, as well. I think common sense will go along way in being ones guide. Would you drink liquid from a water bottle that has sat in the car for a day or two in the hot sun? I wouldn't, but again, it depends on the type of plastic, the temperature, the flavorings, etc. If in doubt, or if concerned, use glass.....easy peasy! Good luck! :toast: :D

@Bill's Magic Vapor - I made a batch of your Lemon Meringue Pie late Sunday night. Tasted the Lemon really strong right then, but I knew I would since it has EA in it. Been shaking it and leaving the cap off several hours at a time, to get rid of the EA and help it blend nicely. Knew it was gradually "doing its thing" as it should, 'cause I'd taste a drop from the bottle each AM & PM.

Decided to finally vape some late yesterday afternoon, and OMG...what a wonderful, absolutely "spot on" flavor! I couldn't put it down, and knew that 1 of my friends (a fairly new vaping convert) would love it, too. His reaction to it, about 30 minutes later, was the same! Immediately said, "Well...you know what you've got to make me at least 50mL of now, don't you?"

So thanks again Bill, for yet another really terrific recipe! You've nailed this one, too!

Oh, I wanted to add this - Because it's SO spot on...even with the vapor smell itself, I know there's no way this can be 1 of my stealth vaping juices! Everyone would be looking around for a hot-out-of-the-oven LMP somewhere nearby!
