I've been pretty busy the last few days and come back to a vape meet going on!

I wish I could participate but we are going on a hiking trip in a few days. :( I'll be back on the 10th, but then my sister will be up visiting for the weekend (and I am going to a birthday party for one of my granddaughters on Saturday), so I wouldn't be able to do anything until the 13th. I also need to order more flavorings. I can't order them until next Friday. I don't want them delivered while we are gone. Booooooooooo

I am really excited about the hiking trip though. It's my first one since I started vaping! No more having to pack out cigarette butts and I can breath so much easier.

Debi, it goes through the 19th and no mixing is required, just posting participation. I'll count you in! :toast:

My daughter's friend, Pam, came by to stay the night and was amazed by the vape lab. Asked if we could make her a banana nut bread with chocolate chips. Three mixes for this one:

Banana Nut Bread with Chocolate Chips

Banana Nut Bread - 10%
Ripe Banana - 5%
Milk Chocolate - 5%
Vanilla Swirl - 4%
Sweet Cream - 3%
Sweetener - 3%
Double Chocolate - 1%
Butter - 1%

Good out of the can. May be really good with flavor bonding and steeping. We shall see. Pam was amazed! A fun, quick experiment. Commercial juice? I don't know how popular a banana nut bread with chocolate chips would be, but if you like that sort of flavoring, this may be a winner. :2c:

Sounds like something I may need to bake tomorrow. In fact, I think I will LOL Please thank Pam for me and my family-because THAT will be a hit when they get up in the morning and when David gets home from work :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I'm not at all sure if I'd vape it myself though. Just doesn't seem like a "me" thing. But, from all my reading-there is a plethora of folks out there that are MASSIVELY into the baked goods flavors!

On a different note-and not regarding our danish situation-how do you feel about the blueberry flavors. Kiddo wants something blueberry...

Love Blueberry Muffins (mix with vanilla cupcake and cinnamon Danish!). I use blueberry with menthols and cooler flavorings like raspberry and watermelon, and this adds depth, richness, expansion and subtle background flavoring and can give you a fifth or sixth flavoring in mixes.....amazing stuff. Love them in my nutriblast morning shakes, too. Mix all three TFA blueberries together and add lemon and sweetener.....wow! Great in licorice too (absinthe and red licorice...sweeten). They make a great pie too (graham cracker, pie crust, Bavarian cream/French vanilla cream, sweetener, and vanilla custard). They are good with waffles, can be mixed with other fruits like dragonfruit, raspberries, watermelon, passion fruit, or other berries. They make an excellent cotton candy, a great candy, or a sweet tart. I've even seen them in cheesecakes. So, I like all three TFA flavorings.....I NEED THEM! Great in Cream Fantastico!

Otherwise, not very useful....:p

Do I like to vape them?.....not so much as other flavorings, but many swear by them. Ciao! :toast:

HA! We LOVE our Nutriblast! Best thing since sliced bread as far as a quick meal goes.

Ok, maybe I will try it in Cream Fantastico when the rest of my stuff gets here. He may enjoy cream that way. That boy has the opposite taste (at least at this point) in that way...he's into the straight fruits, and not the terrific creams. I, on the other hand, don't care for the straight fruits all that much and love the creams.

So, once my blueberry gets here, I'll start working with that.

I may have settled on my danish flavor too. Maybe. I think making decisions at 0400 is silly-so I'll go back over my idea at a reasonable hour. Maybe one after I get sleep LOL Not that I see THAT happening anytime soon. UGH!

Good morning, ok last night I was planning my approach to this....glad I committed, it took my mind off things which was good....anyway this is what I came up with which may or may not work, either way, I'll learn something.

1) Danish recipe, I'm aiming 2/3 for Danish part, 1/3 for the fruit since fruit can be more stand alone, brighter in taste, and simpler I am hoping more or less if go single fruit, or fruit custard blend, I feel the complex part will be the dough, so I will start on dough part first since that will likely take more time for me, calculated my %'s for base recipes based on 20% final flavoring, know it could change, but trying to get ballpark idea.....so then Danish part, around 13% recipe, fruit aspect 7%, gives me plan to aim for and I can adjust as/if needed

2) looked at Bill's recipe, and think am going to use waffle as main component of dough part too, came up with trial blends to mix when supplies arrive, blindly have no idea how will turn out, live and learn right? Right before bed, thought of more pastry-ish minor flavors that tfa offers, wrote down in notes for consideration since did math for initial 3 dough attempts already, feel this part will take up more time initially.
3) fruits, decided will go with blueberry wild or lemon, with or without vanilla custard, this part looks easier for me, either 7% full fruit or 5%fruit/2% vc

These are just my basic plans how I'm going to approach, what I hope to learn....is dividing a complex recipe into fractions/flavor family sections a feasible way to approach it or should I look at it as whole from the get go for me? Am I underestimating fruits by always thinking they are "easy"? I've had luck with strawberry ripe, are blueberry wild and lemon going to be easy or more challenging? What portion of a recipe should I devote to first, the complex part or the presumed simpler? Working with main base and accent notes, how much % per flavor family should I give to my recipe?

Please remember, I'm newer to this so my plans may be silly or "off", but I need to do this, succeed or fail, I'll learn. I'll also have to see if 2/3 for dough/Danish/pastry is too much and if need to decrease to 1/2, if it comes out to being "hot mess" Danish, I'll have to rethink and reevaluate things. Really hope supplies come in soon, already 2 days too late, lol, so after these appts, I can get started, but again, this has become quite the welcomed mental distraction.

Just a reminder that our TFA Vape Meet starts today, right here, online and from "Vape Labs" across the globe. Just to rev up the engines, so to speak, I checked on some Danish pastries from the world of cooking for ideas, and there are plenty of them:

Danish Pastry Flavors Recipes | Yummly

So many! Wow, and delicious looking, right?!

2.jpg5.jpg3.jpg4.jpg

Looks to me that a Danish has two main parts:

1. Like other viennoiserie pastries, such as croissants, danishes are made of laminated yeast-leavened doughs, creating a layered texture similar to a puff pastry, and
2. The sweet filling and glazing

Composition (Wikipedia):

The ingredients include flour, yeast, milk, eggs, and copious amounts of butter or margarine.

Butter is the traditional fat used in Danish pastry. In industrial production, other fats are also commonly used, such as hydrogenated sunflower oil (known as "pastry fat" in the UK). A yeast dough is rolled out thinly, covered with thin slices of butter between the layers of dough, and then the dough is folded and rolled again and again into numerous layers. If necessary, the dough is chilled to ease handling. The process of rolling, buttering, folding and chilling is repeated multiple times to create a many-layered dough that, once baked, is fluffy, crispy on the outside, buttery and flaky. However, although this is the traditional method, not all Danishes are made this way. The dough is sometimes not even laminated.

Danish pastries as consumed in Denmark are usually topped with chocolate, caster (confectioner's) sugar, icing and/or slivered nuts and may be stuffed with a variety of ingredients such as jam or preserves (usually apple or prune), remonce, marzipan and/or custard. Shapes are numerous, including circles with filling in the middle (known as "Spandauer's"), figure-eights, spirals (known as snails), and the pretzel-like kringles.

In the UK, various ingredients such as jam, custard, apricots, raisins, flaked almonds, pecans or caramelized toffee are placed on or within sections of divided dough, which is then baked. Cardamom is often added to increase the aromatic sense of sweetness.

In the US, Danishes are typically given a variety of fruit toppings or sweet bakers' cheese topping prior to baking.[6] Danishes with nut fillings are also popular.

In Argentina, they are usually filled with dulce de leche or dulce de membrillo.

So Many Variations!

So, the sky's the limit here. Could be anything in flavor trove, and certainly butter, a sweetener, and a topping/filling flavor(s). At first, one might be thinking about how we get the breading flavor. Do we even need to? Often Danish pastries are more butter than dough, and that is the flavor that is tried to be imparted to us by chefs around the world. So, the pastry does not necessarily even need a bread, or dough, in many mixes. Seems to me that a good dose of butter flavoring may be all that is required, but some other ideas come to mind as well:

1. Vanilla Cupcake
2. Waffle
3. Belgian Waffle
4. Acetyl Pyrazine
5. Graham Cracker
6. Cheesecake with Graham
7. Cinnamon Sugar Cookie
8. Rice Crunchies
9. Toasted Marshmallow
10. Gingerbread
11. Gingerbread Cookie
12. Pie Crust
13. Apple Pie
14. Berry Crunch
15. Banana Nut Bread
16. Frosted Donut Flavoring, and
17. Others including Butter

So, there appears to be plenty of flavorings, many of which can be mixed together to get new flavors that you may identify with YOUR Danish recipe flavoring. Lots of options, and certainly many combinations can produce astounding results. Sometimes when I think of pastry dough, I think that TFA doesn't have "that' flavoring, but clearly we are not very limited with the many options above. Someone, or several someones are going to figure this out, and this may lead to a new Danish breakthrough. TASTE TEST, BABY!

Fillings, Toppings and Glazes:

Well, the sky IS the limit on this one. Given the earlier explanation of the composition, practically all the other flavorings might work here. Certainly sweet fruits, vanillas, custards, nuts, caramels, and creams would fit the bill, and many others.

Anyway, thinking about the potential possible ingredients is where all mixes start, and evolve from, and then lotsa targeted taste testing! Let the vape meet BEGIN! :rickroll:

Edit: I see Reni and Mom beat me too it!

I think you're on the gold here, Mom! I would not limit this to a 20% mix, but that's a great place to start. Also, I wouldn't worry about the basic dough so much, because it can be a secondary flavoring in many pastries, but it IS there, certainly. I like your thought process. Thank you for this! :toast:

Yeah 20% is just my starting point following the "traditional" and possibly limiting flavor % standard......, I didn't even think of frosted donut at all for dough base, THANKyou Bill!!! I was planning Danish base with waffle, pie crust, and van. cupcake variations (they're all baked goods)with sweet cream, Brown sugar, sweetener(I don't have butter, nor on order) then thought Graham cracker clear...May have to revisit initial plans afterall for the Danish base, waffle-donut may be something, my mind can work on that tonight after work, more mental distraction, my husband will be appreciative my thoughts are on something else and I'm not driving him up the wall with worries, thank you too for encouraging me to do this

Bill let me say you are a true inspiration and that I plan to participate as the meet progresses. As a beginner into the DIY journey it will be geared more towards questions but I'm sure a few trials and errors also. Thank you sir for pulling the curtain back and not simply throwing some recipes out.

I know Domo quite well. I used to buy my carto tanks from them. Their GP SnP Tank is the best carto tank on the market, imho. The glass is a bit thin, so buy extra tanks, You'll need 'em if you drop your gear, like I do:

https://domovaporco.com/product/gp-salt-pepper-tank-v2/

Very nice stuff! Your vape just improved rather dramatically, my friend. I have nine GT's now, just about the only thing I use anymore:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10009199/1632903-taifun-gt-style-rebuildable-atomizer-5-0ml

Make sure and get the Taifun GT "B" models. They have A's and B's. The B's have slightly wider wick slots. Makes a difference. I use KGD in these, and it's really hard to beat, compared with anything, short of a good dripper. Speaking of that, I did get an original dripper, but FT has these as well:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10006709/1766602-taifun-gt-nano-kit. Only $6.00. Changes the Taifun GT to a dripper, which is not bad, imho, and quite easy to change in and out

BTW, I have two originals and the rest clones, mostly from Fasttech. The Fasttech ones are really good. I can't tell them apart anymore. I have no idea which are the originals....  :D :vapor:

:2cool:

Edit, you can get the replacement mini tanks in all plastic for about a buck a piece. Fantastic for taste testing. 100 drops, new tank. 100 drops, new tank. Works great!

I bought ten of these: https://www.fasttech.com/p/1699501. The plastic caps will break so I got half a dozen of these:

https://www.fasttech.com/p/1815401

I bought 20 additional colored and clear tanks, 10 in the short, another 10 in the tall 5 ml tanks. Doesn't matter if I drop 'em, kill them with the wrong juice, or anything else, I've got plenty and again, you simply cannot beat their pricing. I just love their hardware pricing. I used to buy a lot of mods from them too, but I think eVic is their top of the line, or perhaps Sigelei, both pretty good regulated China mods.

Got the missus this one: https://www.fasttech.com/p/1814501. She loves it, and it works perfectly. Another on order now.

You're not going to believe this, but I received 51 drip tips yesterday. Yes, I have a sickness. I like the wide bore ones (more airflow), and I like my bling. All different ones. Eleven more on order that haven't shipped yet. What can I say?

I got six of these: https://www.fasttech.com/p/1632903.

Nothing fast about Fasttech, but phenomenal pricing that can't be beat! :rickroll: I like your VapeQuest very much, Mike!!! :toast:

:2c:
Thank you Bill!
Like you were, I've been happy with my collection of Kayfuns and got them dialed in to my liking but nothing ventured, nothing gained. I ordered a Hcigar from EVCigs then saw the post with Domo on it and grabbed one since they were discounted and in my state. Can't wait to try them out! Not a big fan of SlowTech. But might get some of there spair parts, tanks and stuff later.

I'll give the Danish some thought! I'm still on my first cup of Joe this morning and the brains not firing on all cylinders yet! Maybe something in the strawberry cream cheese aria???

I wondered how ppl were using that stuff. It's silly sweet! I pondered adding it to another flavor I had here from candy making-because its inherently un-sweet (when it should be). However, it seems to have run away from home!

I can't WAIT to get some darn cream cheese icing-READ ----- Jealous, Jealous, Jealous  lol
Haha, yes it is very potent, but for a long time i used it straight,i used it from 1-3% and it made most mixes just a bit sweeter than when not using it,but i would have to change my wicks after maybe 10-15ml and my coils would make it to maybe 20ml before they were so black and gunked up that not even dry burning would help them.Since starting to dilute it,it's much better now.
As for the cream cheese, don't feel bad,i was the same way,and i had already spent my budget for this week,so if i had not gotten my ebay bucks which made it free,i would have had to wait probably another 3 weeks,as i still have alot of tfa stuff i need to pick up.

I have done a number of home extractions of pipe tobaccos. The hardest part for me was learning the different nuances of the different types of tobacco - Virginia, Burley, Cavendish, Latakia, Perique, etc. I think I have it now. I have done a number of "flavored" tobaccos and find they don't always come out as you expect. Sometimes after a good steep they shine! But synthetic tobacco flavors do nothing for me so far. A good NET hits the spot for those urge times.

Sorry, back to TFA...
I'm right there with you,the synthetic tobacco's have done absolutely nothing for me,like i mentioned, the only one i even like the taste of is ry4 double, but like you say it does nothing for those cravings.I am definitely going to start experimenting with the extractions,i made those 2 to start with,so i will play around with them straight, starting at low %'s to get them where i want,i have more hope in the black & mild, since when i was smoking, they were my go to every chance i got,but the straight tobacco i think will make a good mixer to try and come up with some flavored tobacco stuff.I tried the tfa mild black a few months back, and to me it was nothing like the taste of the real thing, not even close,so i figure if this gets me even remotely close,i'll be happy.

LorAnn.com has it, as does Amazon. Direct was less shipping and cost overall, though. Came quick too.
You can find it on ebay also, mine was $7.30 after shipping, and yeah mine is the super strength also.Just make sure it says flavor and not emulsion.

My daughter's friend, Pam, came by to stay the night and was amazed by the vape lab. Asked if we could make her a banana nut bread with chocolate chips. Three mixes for this one:

Banana Nut Bread with Chocolate Chips

Banana Nut Bread - 10%
Ripe Banana - 5%
Milk Chocolate - 5%
Vanilla Swirl - 4%
Sweet Cream - 3%
Sweetener - 3%
Double Chocolate - 1%
Butter - 1%

Good out of the can. May be really good with flavor bonding and steeping. We shall see. Pam was amazed! A fun, quick experiment. Commercial juice? I don't know how popular a banana nut bread with chocolate chips would be, but if you like that sort of flavoring, this may be a winner. :2c:

I think the world may come to an end today,or something else bad will happen, because you posted a recipe that sounds good,AND i actually have all the flavors,so i dont have to order anything to try it haha, that is a first for me haha.
