It's not just you, my friend. Others have trouble with TFA strawberry. They work just fine for me, and you did mention that you copied one of my recipes that uses strawberry, so you may have to try another brand. I can say that most folks seem to like the mix you mentioned, so you may be in the minority, but it's all about individual preferences, and almost all recipes have to be adjusted for me to my personal likes. So, not too worry, just get what works for you and mix what works for you. All of us have to do this. Good luck! :toast: :D

:2cool: :vapor:

I have had the same problem, even with the pink starburst (which is prob the "best" strawberry vape I have atm) the strawberry tastes more like a dried strawberry or something. Next time around I am definitely switching to either Strawberry(Ripe) or possibly a completely different one. I have a number of decent recipes atm with strawberry, but without a decent strawberry flavoring I can't make them great.

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking around for quite some time and have learned a lot from this thread. I would like to add my contribution to this thread with MY take on the infamous Mother's Milk. This is a recipe that I have been working on for a long time and I think I've gotten really close to nailing it. Please share it if you'd like, however, please don't claim it as yours.

FriscoWeather's Moo juice:

All flavors are TFA with the exception of Cheesecake (LA)

Bavarian Cream 3%
Caramel Candy 1%
Cheesecake New York Style (LA) 6%
Cinnamon Danish 3%
French Vanilla Deluxe 3%
Graham Cracker Clear .5%
Marshmallow .5%
Strawberry (Ripe) 5% (sorry, Bill)
Sweet Cream 3%
Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 3%
Vanilla Custard 2%

Just shake and vape!

Enjoy :)

Just tried this and it is by far the best MM clone IMO. I prefer it to the authentic, which after a couple of months is tasting like old plastic.

Hey guys , I mixed a vanilla the other .. During the 100 dt test it was good .. But after I made a 30 ml batch and sitting for a few days it has a slight Pepper tang to it .. I've read where this might happen sometimes .. What's a good solition or is there one ? Or do I need to re test with something different ?

Van swirl 4%
French Van 4%
Bavarian cream 3%
Van custard 4%
Dulce's 2%
Cotton 2%
Sweetner 2%
Of coarse all TFA flavors ?

I also made a couple recipes I seen here

Lemon cup cake - excellent
Peaches and cream - very good
Twinkie - very good - light

And a friend wanted me to make him something with Hawaiian punch and orange .. He loved it , I personally wouldn't vape it cause it's not my taste but it was interesting , he described what he wanted .. So I made this below .. Said it was exactly what he was looking for

Hawaiian punch - 9%
Orange cream - 6%
Van swirl - 5%
baverian cream - 4%
Cotton candy - 4%
Sweetner - 2%

Thanks for everyone that has posted recipes and the ones I have tried .. Very helpful :)

How many watts are you vaping your vanilla recipe at? I worked on a vanilla recipe for a long time, and was experiencing the same problem. Because of the peppery taste, I finally quit trying and gave up on the recipe. I sent a friend a sample of it kind of early on, and he liked it, but in order for it to be good he had to lower his wattage considerably. We both vape Reos, and with the coil builds we both use, it equates to between 30-35 watts. I never thought that maybe that would cause the problem, but he did. Once he told me, I loaded up a tank and put it on my 134 mini at 10 watts and BAM! No pepper taste and was a decent juice. I used like 6 different vanilla flavorings from different manufacturers. I don't know which flavoring it was,but something in the mix just couldn't take that much heat. If that's not the problem, the only other times I've heard pepper taste mentioned is when talking about nic base

It's not very old , a few months .. It's not overpowering and seems to go away a little more as I use the tank .. The flavor is good .. It just has that slight peppery taste .. I don't know :) and thank you for the peaches and cream .. Very flavorful ..

Hmmmm... well, unless you've been storing it in an open container out in the garage, it should be fine. Maybe it is as Stacy suggests and it has something to do with the amount of power applied to the vape... You're most welcome for the recipe. I'm glad that you liked it... I don't have very many test subjects around me, so feedback from you guys means a lot to me. :)

That's a very interesting thought, and I've never really considered it when testing my juices... I typically vape with a mech mod on low sub-ohm coil set-ups with rayon wicks. I've tasted things in juices that I never tasted before. Like SB's Derailed... in my carto-tanks, I loved it... very much a spiced cake flavor. In my sub-ohm dripper, it was horrid... spicy bananas is all I could taste, and I absolutely hate anything banana... LOL... now, I know that Derailed is a banana nut bread flavor, but it never tasted that way in my cartos at 15W... but 80-100W in a dripper?!? Blech!!

Watts, wicks, coils and also airflow and even the diameter of your driptip opening have an major effect on the taste of e-juice for sure.

Before I started playing with flavors I vaped unflavored and occasionally a menthol crystal infused unflavored as my only vapes...I didn't notice a lot of change in flavor when changing the things I mentioned but with flavored liquids it's a whole new ballgame for sure.

This is so important. Since I make juice to work with my Taifun's at about 11 watts using a 1.4 ohm coil, my juices are tailor made for that vaping setup. Other setups, particularly high wattage vaping, will inevitably lead to poorer vaping experience, flavor-wise, in my experience, and for me. Many TFA flavorings are delicate little juices that won't work that great with high wattage sub-ohms. I found this out myself when I used to make juices for sale on the Strip. While they all tasted great to me, some tasted great to my low ohm dripping friends, some not so much. Some recipes that I thought were good, they thought were fantastic. Some that I thought were very good, they thought were way to weak. I began to make the juices with even more flavorings. In some cases that worked, in others.....nothing....no improvement. I believe the best vapes for flavor start with 1 - 1.5 ohm coils at about 10 - 12 watts. That is true for ME, maybe not for you, and is the sweet spot for my HARDWARE. 8 wraps of 29 gauge at 1/16" makes the coil for my RTA, 11 watts from my P3 (or Semo, or Eye), or calculated with voltage/ohms using my 2.5. But, since I mix for my own vaping pleasure, and not yours :)tongue:), they work great for me. All mixologists have to take this into consideration. I have mentioned many times that I never met a juice that I didn't have to change to suit my preferences. Sure many of the juices and recipes were great, but unless they were made specifically for my gear and my vaping parameters, there's no way they could be optimal. So, keep this thought in mind when mixing juices. Seems to me that more heat tends to reduce the flavoring toward the less than optimal, but that's just me. For you, it might be Nirvana. So, again, just remember that we have to tweak our juices for our own vaping needs, tastes, gear, etc. Since I vape while travelling, working, in the home, pretty much everywhere, I don't want massive clouds, and need a large tank (5 mls). I want vapor that if I hold it for 10 seconds, it's almost entirely dissipated. Plus I prefer great flavor, not more vapor. But that's just me, it could be just the opposite, or entirely different for you. YMMV! We must take all of these variables into consideration, and customize our recipes and our juice to work with our preferences. That simple. Case closed! :toast: :D

1.2 ohm coil @ 14 watts ( 4.0 volts) lemo tank on a DNA 30 vapor shark . I have to admit .. It's getting better throughout the day . I bumped up the watts and lowered the watts but as far as that "spice" peppery taste really didn't make a difference .. I have noticed sometimes when I re wick that it takes a little while for the flavor to hit that sweet spot .. I will play around with the next recipe and see what I can do :) thanks guys for all the help :)

All very good points. I don't know why I haven't really considered gear when mixing. I pretty much always sub-ohm above the 80W mark... it works for me. Then I just mix a juice and throw it in a dripper. I either like it, or I don't, and I adjust it. Now, I'm just kicking myself for not really putting any thought into the above mentioned variables....

Every day, a new lesson...

Hi all! Been reading this thread and learning what I can for several months and finally came up with something I feel is good enough to share. I really want to give thanks to Bill for all he has contributed! He is the reason I picked DIY back up after losing hope on my first try about six months ago. So THANK YOU BILL!! And thank you to everyone else that contributes to this thread and makes it such a great place!!

So here is my first "keeper"! It's not entirely my creation but it's my version of a sweet cereal flavor that I pieced together from here!

FYI- I'm vaping it on my goto tank which is an Aspire Atlantis that I rebuild the heads with a single horizontal 5 wrap 26g spaced coil .8 ohm using rayon at 25-30 watts. I mix it to 70/30 VG/PG at 2mg nic and for ME its totally awesome flavor and vapor! :)

All TFA flavorings..

Fruity COPYRIGHTDMCA:

Fruit Circles 8%
Berry Crunch 5%
Cotton Candy 4%
Sweetener 4%
Vanilla Swirl 3%
Bavarian Cream 3%
Dulce de Leche 3% (Bill's "milk at the bottom of the bowl" so true!)

If anyone gives it a shot I'd love to hear some feedback!
Thanks again to all and keep on mixin!

God, yes. That's really the main problem with my Strawberries and Cream; it's a huge pain to the hardware, gunking a wick and coil completely in 12-24 hrs. So, got a magma to make all the re-wicking and dry-burning chores easier, and so I didn't waste so much good juice. But I still have to wait for the new wicks to really settle in and behave and taste good -- unfortunately, when it gets all gunked like that, to me it tastes fine, no burnt taste, just good vapin' -- but my husband objects to the burnt *smell* so I have to either go to another room, vape something else, or go fix it -- dry-burn and re-wick.

But I hear so many unfavorable things about so many other strawberry flavors, I'm reluctant to replace the organic Shisha Strawberry, it's so darn tasty. I might try the Capella, it seems to get good reviews, and maybe FlavourArt.

Orange Cream recipe ideas anyone? Craving some Orange...

Dream Cycle

Orange - 6%
Cherry - 6%
Raspberry - 6%
Cotton Candy - 5%
Dulce de Leche - 2%

I prefer this mix to any of my mixes with the orange cream. I do use the orange cream with other juices, when I need a hint or orange, but it's not strong enough for me for an orange cycle. You can play with the fruit percentages to get this one exactly as you want it. A wide flavor range depending on your preferences. Generally, I don't use any of the fruit creams as primary flavorings, only as secondary flavorings, and use the fruits and creams/vanillas separately for this type of mix. A lot more control of the flavoring, imho, and my experience. Good luck! :toast: :D

I learned the hard way as well and even wrote a blog about it. I had tried several of Bill's juices and enjoyed them but when I tried Cinnamon Danish it tasted like clay flower pot. Long story short, I was using a Mutation x at 0.4 - 0.5 ohms and anywhere from 25-50 watts but when I tried it in a Magma at 1.0 ohms and 17 or so watts it tasted fine.

Thats funny. I have vaped bills adv (and now its my adv too btw) everywhere from 7watts to 140watts on every build i could think of. I mostly use it in my tanks though and vape it between 20-30 watts depending on the tank. I love it. The only time it has a bad taste is vaping it while eating rolo's lol. I dont know why but something happens there. Other than that i would brush my teeth with it if i thought it would get the job done

Yes, all my recipes are in my DIY calculator. Many of my TFA recipes are posted on this thread and many of those are in my blogs. It will take some time to post them all, and I do intend to, some day, but today's not that day. Even so, there's at least 50 or more posted here. Also, I have refrained from posting most of them, as they do use other brand flavorings. TFA is outstanding in many ways. The best in some ways. However, they do have some flavor gaps, as all brands do seem to have, so there are many flavorings that one must look elsewhere to make certain juices. :2c: :toast: :D

:2cool: :vapor:
Thanks Bill for all your great recipes, I couldn't find your DIY calculator, can you please post a link to it to browse your recipes freely :vapor:, as I just on my baby steps in DIY.
