Jeff, Don't forget to use a little Vanilla and or Cream as well 1-2%

To make Fruit pop I have used Citric Acid, Sour, and Lemon juice (out of the yellow bottle) all one drop per 5mls to start with. Some one posted that they use one drop of popcorn for Strawberry.

Thanks for the advice!

Bill's recipe already contains vanilla and cream:

Strawberry - 8%
Sweet Cream - 4%
Vanilla Swirl - 4%
Cotton Candy - 2%
Sweet and Tart - 2%

I have some TFA Sour and lemon juice, I'll give them a try.

I've been reading through this thread for days now, and have ordered quite a few flavors from TFA. I have made a number of juices so far that are quite tasty (Flamingo, Hot Fuzz, Watermelon Surprise, Frozen Fruit, etc) and my wife and I quite like them. She has asked me to make a strong strawberry flavor, like a Jolly Rancher type. Bingo! Bill already has a recipe, Pink Starburst, for that! I mix it up and we have a vape under similar conditions to Bill's preferred vaping (KFL+, 1.5ohm, 12W). The strawberry barely comes through. I even tried upping the strawberry, two drops, in the 5ml test batch without much change.

Is there a secret to get the strawberry flavor to really "pop"? I have both the regular version and ripe strawberry on hand and have tried both in the recipe.

Any help would be appreciated since I'm trying to get my wife off bought juice.

Jeff
What strawberry did you use Jeff? I use the sweet strawberry, and you can probably go as high as 12%.

Got my first 4-oz'ers from TFA yesterday {insert happy dance here}. Don't know what the hell I was thinking tho - ordered Mild and Dbl Choc (Clear) along with Cotton Candy and Juicy Peach. Few 15mL of some stuff I didn't have. Guess I'll be making a boatload of Bill's candy bars (and chocolate custards and chocolate cakes)!!!!!!!

:toast: :rickroll: :toast: to you all :)

Jeff, btw if that fails or if you want go ahead and up the Strawberry I use it in some recipes at 15%. That's what's great about diy you can adjust a recipe to fit you; no one size fits all.:D

I'm about to mix up a few different versions, one I was going to go the full 15% suggested in the "single flavors list". Dave, that is the reason I started DIY juice, customization. This habit is a lot cheaper than my car obsession was. :)

I have tried both the ripe and regular strawberry. I don't see a "sweet" version, or I would have ordered it. Serious sweet tooth here :p

On a side note, another kudos from me to all that help so selflessly in this thread *looks at Bill*

The Ripe is closer to the skin/rind/peel of the fruit. The sweet is the interior fruit part. Regular strawberry is the flavor of the sweet fruit interior part. Make sure and play around with wattage and airflow while testing the flavoring. Often times the lack of, or diminishing, flavoring comes with too much heat, and/or too much airflow, or the dreaded vapor's tongue. Good luck! :toast: :D

Blueberry Mix: Notes

-Blueberry Wild: a lighter, sweeter, smoother blueberry. Prefer as dominant.
-Blueberry Extra: bolder, harsher, tarter blueberry. Smaller % to boost the wild.

-Vanilla Swirl: 'drier', smaller, better vanilla
-French Vanilla Cream: a bit more vanilla, a tad bitter
-Dx Bavarian Cream: a bit 'dx'y
-Vanilla Bean Gelato: tastes 'plasticy'. Don't think I'll use this flavor anywhere.
Vanillin: boosts/smooths the vanilla

-Brown Sugar: not the sweetner for blueberry/fruit IMO
-Honey: never again - gone into garbage
-Sweetner: ~ 4%
-Cotton Candy: 1% smooths it out. Any more it kills the blueberry.
-Smooth: ha - kills it dead

Blueberry Mix: 10ml 60PG/40VG 12mg

Blueberry Wild: 8%
Blueberry Extra: 4%
Vanilla Swirl: 2%
French Vanilla Cream: 1%
Vanillin: 1%
Sweetner: 3%
Cotton Candy: 1%

Yum!

Love blueberry! Love to hear your notes/comments!

Love you post. However, honey is great in the right places. Impossible to get certain flavorings without it! Use infrequently and at 2% or less. On their own, 95% of TFA flavorings are unvapable to me. However, carefully mixing all these flavorings together can yield some surprising results. I cannot stand coffee, for example. However, certain chocolate flavoring are only possible by adding coffee to them. Go figure! Good luck! :toast: :D

Very true! In the Inawera thread, I received recommendations for the shisha strawberry at 4% or 8%, but I've ended up using 16%, and it's great! I use Bill's high flavor mix technique, but when I posted my recipe in there, all they could do was make fun of my frequent need to re-wick!

I'd rather re-wick every single day than sit around waiting on a juice for 2 or 3 wks! I'm vaping some of my strawberries and cream right now, that I mixed up around noon today, and it's GREAT!

I only re-wick when I need to.....every day, or so! Who cares. I'm vaping great juice today at 3 cents a mil......HOW YOU DOIN'!!!! :rickroll:

The truth is that, if I wanted to, I could create a new ADV, about five new ADV's every day, before noon, with my 190 TFA flavors, alone. The average long steeper makes three or four new juices a year. So, I understand why they are so proud and so protective of their labors of love, and perhaps, less is more sometimes, but vaping a great new juice any time I want is what works for me. To each their own, there's more than one way to do this, and whatever works, is the way one should make juice. HOOT, HOOT, HOOT!! :toast: :D

Exactly! Mine's a little more costly per ml, because of that expensive WTA, but still... 18 cents per ml beats anything commercial! The 30ml I mixed today came to $5.48 -- for juice this great, one could easily pay 5 or more times that! And I don't mind the re-wick either, it makes me keep practicing, so I keep getting better at it. :D

Hey Andria,i tried that smoky cappucino today, pretty good stuff.I made a 10ml bottle of it,so i'm using half now and leaving the other half for a week or so to let the tobacco really come through before i decide on a bigger batch.Right now,i'm thinking i may drop the chocolate down a tad,as that is the dominate flavor i'm getting, but it could change when the tobacco notes come through. All in all though, definitely a good vape, thanks for sharing the recipe, tommorow i will be trying your strawberries and cream too, since i got that shisha strawberry now.

Baseballmom, tried your butterscotch swirl recipe too, another good one.At first i wasn't sure if i liked it or not,but after playing around with the wattage a bit, turns out i do like it haha.I may try the next mix with just a bit more sweetener, but overall pretty good stuff just the way it is,thanks for sharing it.

That's really strange, but it kinda confirms something I've been suspecting for a while: I seem to be "blind" or "numb" to chocolate flavor in vapes -- every single chocolate-anything I've vaped, I can barely taste at all, and in the smoky cappucino, I really don't taste a lot of chocolate; for me it's mostly tobacco and coffee, but the other flavors kinda "smooth" it out. Really an odd quirk; guess it's a good thing that I'm not a fanatic chocoholic like my husband, or I'd really be peeved! :D

I could be mistasting it too haha.It seems like the chocolate that i'm getting the most, but it could very well be the cappucino and i'm thinking chocolate,my taste buds are still screwy after almost a year haha.Anyway it goes, still a very good juice,i will definitely be making more.

It might not be just vapes where I have this quirk; I drink a cup of cocoa every night before bed, and now and then, just to change it up, I also add a half-tsp of decaf instant coffee -- which then dominates the entire flavor -- really weird, right, 2 tbsp of cocoa, 1/2-tsp of coffee, and the coffee flavor dominates it completely. I guess it's just that coffee is a much more pungent and penetrating flavor -- at least, to MY tastebuds!
