Between Timid and Timbuktu
I searched the thread for horchata but I didn't find an answer, so here's my Q. I ordered TFA Horchata from RTSVapes...now I'm wondering which one I got. So I went to the TFA website, and they only had one(?). I wondered whether I got base or smooth, and I was stumped. The thing makes both juices I've tried to make (mixed with various creams) taste like Big Red Gum. Which is nice, but I really, really want to make ... horchata. The first juice was about 5%, then my next juice I dropped to 4%. I used about 10-12% or creams and vanillas, under 20% for total flavor. Should I order what I know is Horchata Smooth from somewhere else? Or should I try a different brand?

I might try that, to have something other than the 'Smocha' to give me a rest from the very sweet fruity stuff I like. :thumb:

But I don't understand your notation; do you not have it as percentages? So it can be scaled for quantity?

Andria

89% of the time percentages make my head sore.

The RY4 is 2%, the drops I have no idea of percentage.
(QuantityMade/10)x2 = number of drops of Type M
Not that accurate but close enough I imagine.

Strange situation here, I downloaded and tried to install then my Norton I.S marked it as unsafe and removed it.
Anyone else have this problem?
Burnie

Never had a problem did you download from googledrive or dropbox?

I downloaded the googledrive one.
Scanned the .zip folder with AVG anti-virus.
Unzipped. Scanned the .exe with AVG.
All good. Installed no problems.
What kind of warning did you get?

Googledrive! it downloaded ok problem, only on install Norton did its usual scan and marked it unsafe then blocked it.
Think I will download again and try again.
Can't remember the message I got other than the red text, possibly asked (are you sure you want to install) and I hit No.:unsure:

I looked at the thread to see if anyone reported that issue and a long time back someone did. Hotrod responded asking what message they had received but they never responded back. Hotrod checked the file with his Norton's and nothing was found. I do know that a new release will be out in the near future.

Bill as normal your right :toast: One thing I haven't mentioned yet is the calculator I use http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/480587-new-calculator-try.html It has a really neat feature; when you review your ingredients it will show you how many recipes that ingredient is used in as well as the average amount used. Now when I get a new flavor I check for it's single use percentage then check my main recipe file which contains about 200 or so recipes from ECF and other sites to get my starting points. I then move the flavor over to my working recipe file and using those points I now can tweak it to my needs.

Anyone who hasn't tried that calculator needs to as it will do more than any other I've tried. :)

I ran across this calculator about a year ago and it is the only one I have used. The guy who developed it has been constantly upgrading it since he first released it as users found problems or features they wanted added. He has really put a lot of time into this project and it keeps getting better and better. I mix my juices by weight and the scale I use was purchased based on his recommendation. Between using this calculator and the helpful posters on this thread, I now can mix juice for myself that is as good or better than the expensive juice I used to buy.

Thanks for the replies guys re: calculator :vapor:

Have just tried again with same result file removed. Message from Norton (WS.Reputation.1) with further reading seems as if the program has not had a lot of hits, there is No mention or suggestion of it being bad or anything just Norton playing safe I guess.

I've tried both,it's been a while, but what your describing sounds like the horchata base.To me,it just tasted like straight cinnamon,so i could see it tasting like big red when added with creams.I only tried it on it's own to see how it was,i haven't mixed it into anything else though.

I can't tell what flavors those are,but definitely looks like your off to a good start.Actually alot better start than i had haha,i didn't really know what to get or what i was doing when i started,so i got a bottle of pg,some nic in vg,5 flavors, and 2 syringes. It worked though,so what you have to start with should definitely work out well.Just be warned, buying new flavors is just as addictive as the nicotine haha.I started with just the 5,and in less than a year i am up close to 100 or so haha.

I tried going with mostly complementry flavors and focus only on a couple recipes at first... These are the flavors all are TFA expect the Menthol and Vanilla Custard

  • Vanillin
  • Black Honey Tobbaco
  • Sweet Cream
  • Cinnamon
  • Menthol (Wizard Labs)
  • Banana Cream
  • Vanilla Custard V2 (CAP)
  • DX Banana Cream
  • Toasted Marshmello
  • Sweetner
  • Bavarian Cream

I'm thinking about trying these combinations not sure about %'s yet as I haven't stared...

Cinnamon Gum
Max VG

Cinnamon
Menthol
Sweetner

Black Honey Vanilla Tobacco
65/35 VG/PG

Black Honey Tobacco
Vanillin
Sweet Cream/sweetener ?

Banana Cinnamon Roll
50/50

Banana Cream
Bavarian Cream
Toasted Marshmallow
DX Banana Cream
Cinnamon

I think you may be very disappointed with the CAP Vanilla Custard v2; it's so artificial, it tastes like it's MADE of plastic.

The TFA Vanilla Swirl is a MUCH better choice, if you want a vanilla custard but you're trying to avoid diketones. On the other hand, I see you have the regular Bavarian Cream instead of the DX, so I'm not sure why you're avoiding the regular vanilla custard -- the regular bavarian does have diketones; the DX Bavarian is pretty good.

hey guys anybody tried any of these by them selves?:
Rootbeer (not root beer float just normal one)
Blue Rasberry
Citrus punch

they are all tfa i dont plan on mixing any of them do you think they will be any good

Citrus punch from TFA used to be named "mountain dew".......if your search for recipes......older threads will refer to it as mountain dew....same stuff......
they just changed the name.
Hope that helps :)

Yeah, the out of stock thing can be a huge problem, and all the vendors have their spells -- I always check all the ones I normally buy from; bullcityvapor.com, ecigexpress.com, and for the TH nicotine and sometimes the INW shisha strawberry (when no one else has it in stock!), vaperstek.com.

I've started buying my DX Bavarian Cream directly from TPA/TFA; ECX doesn't carry it, and BCV is *usually* out of stock when I want to buy it. I need to get one of those accts at TPA/TFA that will allow me to buy bigger bottles, because $3.25 for 15ml is NOT a good price (when it's $1.75 for 10ml at BCV!), and I seem to use that DX Bavarian in nearly all my recipes. I don't think it would be too good as a standalone, but as part of the creamy background, it's outstanding.

Order from TFA. Avoid in-stock problems. Get bulk account. It's free. Shipping is reasonable. Pricing is excellent. I have never ordered from anyone other than TFA/TPA and have never had a problem in this regard. The smallest I have ever ordered is one ounce. It takes more than a few mils to work with these flavorings, and 30 mils is a pretty small amount, but enough to work with initially. Since the 4 oz size is only about a buck more, I invariably order the 4 ounce sizes, and though I don't need that much, it's really too good of a deal to pass up. :2c: :toast: :D
