Currently I'm working on a Passion Fruit Star Burst!

It was one of my favorite flavors in Tropical Star Burst and of course they discontinued the flavor..guess it was too good?!

When I get it tweaked, naturally a post will follow...:thumb:

Bill..I didn't forget about you mentioning I write a blog regarding mixology...been working on it in Word...forthcoming soon!

I'm about to place my second order for more flavors. What are the "must get" fruit flavors?

So, subjective a question/answer, right?

For me, my favorite fruits include Juicy Peach, lemon, orange, grape, watermelon, lemon lime, key lime, apple, banana cream, bananas foster, orange cream, blueberry wild, blueberry extra, pineapple, cherry extract, dragonfruit, raspberry, grape juice, strawberries and cream, strawberry, and strawberry ripe. I use all of these in my recipes for flavorings in my rotation. This is about 20 out of about 70 fruit flavors. Also, I use coconut a lot, but don't consider it a fruit, though it may be. So, seems like all of them, but actually less than a third of them. I use some of the candies in a couple of recipes, but very sparingly. I don't use strawberries and cream to make that flavoring, or bananas and cream to make that flavoring, but use those type of mixes for subtle, nuanced fruit flavorings in other primary mixes. Also, I frequently will use banana and banana ripe mixed, rather than individually, as neither is as good as both combined, imho. Same with strawberries. Because these are the most common flavorings in the pies, Danish, candies, etc. mixes that I make and like, I select these largely citrus fruits to suit my preferences. But, many people like the melons, and more exotic fruits. So, it's a to each their own kinda thing, largely based on personal preferences. You just have to figure out your own preferences and what kind of juices you want to make, and then go in that direction. Wish you good luck! :toast: :D

Rookie mixer here. Been fooling around for a few weeks and have a few decent recipes so far.

Just mixed up a batch of Bills Vanilla Custard and its a home run! Def a shake and vape.

Question-if I wanted to turn it into a banana or strawberry or something can I just add say 3% pineapple and leave the rest of recipe intact??

Thanks

You'll have to do some taste tests, but I think you'll be more like 8 - 15% flavoring, depending on the fruit you plan to add. Should work fine. Glad you liked the Vanilla Custard. Good luck and welcome aboard! :toast: :D

On a side note to Bill's recommendations if you use TFA Passion Fruit, it's a sort of weak flavor...so you will want to start upwards of 15%......IMHO... :thumb:

Hi Bill you have Egg Nog in your Vanilla Custard. The only egg nog I found is CAP not TFA. Is that correct?

No, TFA has egg nog in their bulk sizes. Search for "Egg" and it'll appear. They may have a glitch. I use TFA's egg nog and detest the Cap Egg Nog. YMMV. Good luck! :toast:

Thanks Bill - though I am not american and am placing an order with a supplier in the UK (CheffVapour) who might not carry all items. Will certainly write to them.

I believe TFA ships internationally....

It is much more cost effective to purchase 4 ounce sizes of the flavors! IMHO...

Yes they do but the cost of shipping to Malta is prohibitive to start with. Added to that I would have to pay customs duty of 37% since these would be products originating outside the EU. As for buying large bottles, yes of course, I would consider that once I am more or less aware of what I might need most. I am only just starting DIY, have only been vaping for three weeks so I really am only starting to find my feet. I have already made a huge investment as it is but I don't regret that. I am enjoying vaping and having spent the money I am more likely to stick with it. My hope is to convince someone of my family to switch to vaping as well - it would be so much fun to make juice for them the same way I have cooked for them all my life. :)

The vanilla custard is quite good with or without the egg nog. The egg nog provides a kick that is quite nice, but this will vape great without it as well. So, you can wait before investing so much money into this seldom used flavoring. The vanilla custard is the only recipe that I use it in, myself. I was so disgusted by the cap vanilla, that I kinda have an aversion to the flavoring. That being said, it does work quite well in this one juice for me. So, wait it out, see if you like DIY, see if you like this flavoring, and then, perhaps someday, get it in the vape lab. Good luck to you! :toast: :D

WOW!

I had no idea the customs / duty was soooo high!

I guess even if you had friends or family in U.S. you would still have the customs to deal with I would imagine....

Good luck with your family and friends!

I used to work with someone whose family was from Malta....

I did order a bunch of TFAs from ChefsVapours this morning. They are a UK site offering a variety of flavours not just TFA. They even have their own brand because the company is owned by two chefs who themselves create flavours. It's by no means a cheap site but other sites I found that were cheaper were all missing some very basic and essential flavours. ChefsVapours do carry 100ml bottles in some of the more popular TFA flavours, not all. But like I said, I am just starting so I want to be sure what I'm more likely to use most of. Once I now what's what I know where I can go for bigger sizes.

This side of the pond it seems companies don't hold large amounts of stock. I filled my basket last night and thought I would sleep over it before I made the investment. Overnight I lost the butterscotch!! - by morning it was sold out. :?:

You can always request Chef' to order something for you if they do not stock it, or show it on their site....just as a suggestion...

BTW: Have you seen Bill's recommendations for flavors to buy when starting out?

:thumb:

I do that a lot....bad part is I haven't learned to sleep on it yet! smileyslaughing_lol_hehe_100-102.gif

LOL Well sleeping over it didn't do me much good - I ordered everything anyway! Cha Ching!! :D

Yes, mostly I followed Bill's recommendations plus some things I saw on recipes here and there that I thought I might like. By the time all my orders come in I'll have quite a collection. If the EU weren't so intent on outlawing us I would consider opening a business :) .... look I've even created my own brand.

It's not just the EU....we're about to be in it up to our necks in the U.S. as well.....There are just too many big money interests that want to control it and make money off of it!

Between the pharmaceutical companies, the tobacco industry, and all the corrupt politicians we are all pretty assured it will be messed up pretty soon everywhere!

So.....STOCK UP! :thumb:
