Hello everyone. Blame it on Larry, he told me to come here.....:D

Still reading blogs and stickys, probably a week or two from first order. Mostly interested in simple single or dual flavors for now, just to find what I like and don't like in DIY. Like the idea of 8ml bottles, if it sucks I'm out maybe $1.49 or something like that.
Anyways, I like flavored tobaccos- RY4, Vanilla Tobaccos, Caramel Tobaccos, etc.. I was wondering if TFA provides a good mild to mild- medium tobacco flavor that might work well with other flavors, such as DX Caramel or DX Hazelnut. Any assistance would be appreciated, thanks

Back to researching for now....

Have you found the Rwhy4 and Scutch recipes posted by Tc1... Might be a starting recipe...:toast:

It was me that posted the recipe but I really have to tip my hat to Bill for the whole Starburst inspiration. ;)

Key Lime is a GREAT TFA flavor. The recipe was very good. Having said that, I do have to agree that it is one that I would probably not want to be my regular ADV. Not because it isn't good - it really is good - but it's also strong and vaping 50ml of it was a little tough on my taste buds and the back of my throat.

I'll definitely be mixing this up at least semi-regularly, but most likely keeping it in a rotation with other flavors rather than vaping a bottle of it exclusively from start to finish.

Thx Nic.....credit where credit is due...:thumb:

This is a GREAT recipe....no limits to the variations possible!

Do you (or anyone else) have any thoughts on Nic being good after the exp date? I have several bottles that are expired. Some by only a couple months and one by close to a year
Yes and no!

This is by all accounts VERY alarming that 29 states (2 of which are only trying to ban vaping where smoking is banned), meaning over 1/2 the US is being pumped full of monies from big tobacco and big pharma to regulate or ban something without ANY true scientific data!

All I can say is VOTE, VOTE, and DON'T Re-ELECT! :thumb:

And I will be more aggressively buying Nic!

I have a quick question. A cousin asked for a melt-your-teeth vanilla flavoured juice :) and I was thinking of Bill's Milkshake Base Flavoring.

Milkshake Base Flavoring at 25%

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - 10%
Marshmallow - 5%
French Vanilla Deluxe - 4%
Sweetener - 3%
Dulce de Leche - 2%
Koolada - 1%

My problem is that I don't have Koolada. Would you say if I add a few drops of Fresh Mint instead of the 1% Koolada it would be ok too? Thanks.

You could just skip the Koolada...it doesn't really add to flavor--just the cool feeling you get from it.

Since mint does have both a cooling effect AND a flavor, it would make a vanilla mint flavoring juice, which may be pretty good, but is not plain vanilla, and may not work for you. As Sarge suggests, try it without the koolada, and get an order in to TFA. You will use koolada on many mixes. In bulk, 4 ounces will last a long, long time. Good luck! :toast: :D

I tried out Unicorn Milk today (not my recipe - I picked it up somewhere) and it seems to be very good. I also tried out a new experiment. Usually when attempting something new I take a little bit of water and add drops of flavour according to the percentages (i.e 6% = 6 drops etc.), swirl it round my mouth and spit out. That already gives me a general idea of whether I would like it or not. Today I attempted a further step - finding out what the vapour might smell like. So I put my testing water in a s/steel jug and heated it until I had some vapour coming off. It more or less worked so now I also know what the Unicorn Milk will smell like when I actually vape it.

I did test a little of the finished mix in a small clearo and it already tastes pretty good but I'm still going to give it a little rest.

I am ordering diy stuff in a few days and would absolutely love to find a good unicorn milk recipe. This will be my first attempt at diy and unicorn milk is me and my wife's favorite flavor. Premium prices just aren't doable anymore for me.

Today's mixing frenzy was 40mL each (30 for me; 10 for a friend) of Blueberry Custard, Pink Starburst, Key Lime Pie, Lemon Merengue Pie, Orange Creamsicle, and Peaches & Cream (tips hat to Bill and Kaeziel :) )

I'd emptied some of my 8mL bottles and started making a list of replacements. Have my cart loaded with some 4oz bottles, but then I came across the 140 pack sampler of 15mL bottles, and my curiosity was piqued. Has anyone jumped on that? Less than $1.25 per bottle..... I have a hefty number of the flavorings already in my stash, but there are a lot which I don't have and have toyed with getting....

Many thanks, Dinger. :thumb:

I have the pretty much all the sampler packs. Good to get a sense of the flavorings, but in such small sizes, can't make a whole lot with it. For me, I have since purchased most of the flavorings in the 4 oz sizes and the ones I use most often (ADV's) in the 16 oz sizes. Of course, these were all purchased separately and over time. Your journey, like mine, is unique to our tastes, likes and dislikes, budgets, vaping preferences, etc. Hard to recommend one over another, or to recommend a path, generally speaking. There are probably 30 flavorings that will make maybe 40% of the juices I have made, and that's a good place to start with the 4 oz bottles. Really can't go wrong with either choice, but I'm glad I did buy the sampler flavors. I've also purchased samplers from other makers, as well. These have come in handy for those recipes where you may be missing a single ingredient in a mix, and the samplers can save you the time and delay, and allow you to make a mix NOW, so it's not a bad way to go. Good luck! :2c: :toast: :D

Thanks Bill :toast:

To give you an idea of how frequently I mix, the 8mL bottles I'd just emptied were purchased as far back as September. I did score a few 4oz bottles of my chocolates, peach, and cotton candy. I caught TFA before they stopped selling the 1oz flavors around the end of January, and I grabbed vanillas and creams to bolster my supply at that time.

I really only mix for myself (and I'm just starting to make some for my buddy and his wife whom I'm trying to nudge into vaping and away from smoking.....) So the 6 bottles I just mixed today could easily last me at least a month. I usually only mix when I have about 25% left in the majority of my flavor bottles....

Buuuuuuuut, having a full pantry from which to choose might get me to make some otherwise untried juices :D

I got my tax refund last week, and all my upcoming bills are paid (and then some ;) ) so I think I'm going to go for it. If I come across some choices that are "less than desirable" to me, I'll just see if some of you fine folks would take them off my hands....

I love you guys!!!! (but, I love vaping more!)

Nic stays good for a really long time, the exp. date is more of a best by type date.As long as it's stored correctly, out of the light, etc. it will be good for years. There are people on here, which they store it in the freezer, but there are some who have nic stored and still using from 5 years ago.It may lose some strength over time, but as long as it doesn't get a bad smell or taste funky,it is still very much usable.

My advice is not my own, but from one of the veterans here who also is a professional chemist. Kurt has several other posts here dating back a good ways (the link I'm sharing here is 3+ years old).

Lots of good reading in this thread and others along the same topic lines from Kurt:
