Makes perfect sense to me, and quite apropos!

I feel like I need a shower.....Whisky Tango Foxtrot? I suppose I am not everyone's cup of tea! :toast: :D

:) I got annoyed in this thread at first, and felt completely unwelcome. But then I decided that I needed whatever I could learn here, and unless SJ or his minions banned me from the forum, I had as much right here as anyone. ;) I may still be unwelcome here.. but I sure have learned a lot. :D

I'm very glad you are on this thread Andria. I know I've learned a lot from you, and I enjoy your posts, and your prolific writing style.

Also, I thank you and the others for the kind words of support. Believe me, I've gotten attacked on this thread many times, but because of your well-wishes, I continue to return. I have zero interest in being controversial, and abhor conflict, where it can be easily avoided (like by not posting here). However, there are those that take serious exception to the HFM method, and can be quite unkind in their remarks. I think we need to let bygones be bygones, to respect our differences, listen to all, and appreciate this community that is trying to help others, particularly the new folks. So, I'd like to stay, and will redouble my efforts to get along with others. I'm hoping this is the last of it. Many thanks! :toast: :D

That HFM method is really HOW I learned to make good ejuice -- I was advised in the INW thread to try 4%-8% of the shisha strawberry, tasted it, and all it tasted like, to me, was "thin." So I looked at a bunch of your recipes for different fruit flavors, and put together my recipe for strawberry & cream based entirely on your method of "half main flavor, half supporting flavors", and BANG! Finally an ejuice I could taste!! It did take a few more tweaks to get the flavors balanced, but it's really excellent -- my main ADV since mid-December!

Of course, tobacco flavors really don't benefit from the HFM technique; about the only way is to use a modified version of it -- use 2-3 different tobacco flavors together, so you don't need to go too heavy on any one and risk the whole thing going sideways. Example, my cherry pipe tobacco mix:

INW Vanilla for Pipe 6%
INW Deluxe TDM 5%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 4%
TFA Cherry Extract 4%
TFA Sweetener 2%

By using the two different sweet tobaccos, it strengthens the tobacco taste so that the sweet flavors don't overwhelm it *too* much -- that recipe is pretty sweet, not terribly "tobacco-y", but it does have a good "tingle" -- I feel it more in the mouth, than the throat -- so it's really excellent after meals, for those of us who might yearn for tobacco more after meals than at any other time. I plan to keep working on it; substituting the INW Gold Ducat for the Deluxe TDM, since I can't really taste cocoa/chocolate flavors in a vape at all. But I have to get motivated, since I know it will require at least a month's steep, to really taste good.

Bottom line, there really are a lot of diff ways to do DIY -- it depends on the flavors involved, and one's patience for waiting (I don't have much of that!), and one's preference for high/low flavor percentages. I guess that's why there's so many different ejuice flavors and brands. :D :thumb:

hang around we enjoy you wisdom in DIY and your generosity with recipes for us fledgling DIY types.
Even those of us who cannot tolerate some of the flavorings you (and most) use still get ideas on how to use the flavorings we can use.

LOL! Sounds like a decent build. Until recently my usual builds were 2.4mm (still are for my tank 'cause 3mm won't fit). I've found lately that I prefer the 3mm spaced for my rdas. You're right, the Hobo doesn't quite match the Derringer for flavor, but has way more capacity.
Ahhh... yeah, I've got the older version. More often than not, though, I close off the top air holes anyway. Nice to have the BF pin. I don't have any squonkers yet, but I keep looking in that direction.

On another note, but still related... I usually tone down my flavor percentages to about 20-25% for the Derringer over my other attys. For most of my mixes I use 30% flavor (depending... I always add an extra 5% to whatever I'm making if I plan on using it in my tank, so that's usually 35%).
Once you try squonking,it will ruin you for all other mods haha. You can try it out really cheap now.My first was the smokeless owl, pretty nice, but it's plastic, but it was only $25 shipped.A better option is the Reo clone, you can find it for $20-$25 shipped,it just needs to be cut down a bit to use standard 22mm atty's,as the way it comes the cup only fits 14mm atty's,but it's a very nice affordable sqounker. After trying my first one, that's all i have used for several months now,i have 3 mech and 2 vw bottom feeders,i'm hooked haha.
On the derringer,i can definitely see cutting back on the flavor, one of my adv is 13% and the other is 20% and i could cut both of those back and still have great flavor. My newest squonker that i got today has temp control,so i'm going to throw a nickel build in the Hobo and see what i can come up with.

@AndriaD I'm not sure why you would think you're not welcome on this thread but you have been on here before me. I enjoy your posts and try to learn as much as I can from everyone here. Like Bill said, everyone should feel welcome to post here and I think we all have things we can learn from each other. Maybe some day I'll know enough to help someone else.

I just try to share what *I*'ve learned; if it helps someone else, TERRIFIC! I have a bit more time to spend perusing the forum than a lot of folks do. :D

Well, I'm glad y'all are here. Especially since I know jack about mixing, & I wouldn't learn much if I were here by myself. I'd be reduced to hijacking The Front Porch & hounding Robert & clnair!

Well now that we have all decided that we are glad we are here...........
In the two years I have been on this forum, I can only think of 1, maybe 2 people that I sort of wished would take a hike. Only due to being obnoxious or attacking others. I really hope I never made anyone feel unwanted in any thread.
The bottom line is be nice, don't go looking for a fight, be respectful of others opinions and ways and I guess be a little more careful because in texting/messages/foruming you do not have the benefit of sending tone and inflection.
