What I did wasn't that involved.
The fix I found said to uninstall my HP 3D DriveGuard, and reinstall the current one.
It was at an HP message board. It seems to have fixed it, but we'll see.
Bookmarking that just in case what I did doesn't end up being the fix.
So far, so good though.
