I posted on the Microsoft thread, the HP thread you linked was the one I got the info from.
I honestly don't anticipate a fix. My laptop has a known issue shutting down. The power to the button doesn't go off. The light stays lit.
I have to restart, and then shut down for the light to go off.
I researched that extensively, none of the fixes mentioned worked....I didn't do them, learned from reading the convos.
I don't think their's much effort put in "fixes" at HP....at least not at the "help yourself" level.
I think they want you to pay for a tech to help.
Updates=income generation.

I was up till 2am mixing juice so I think I'll be good for most of the summer

Yup and I steeped the 7.5% one in the sonic cleaner with real hot water,didn't try it yet

You might have the bad one the first guy was talking about

I ran a check on it from the control panel/device mgr/system devices/HP mobile data protection.
It says it's working and the correct (current) driver for that program.
I don't really know what else to do. I'll watch the convos and see if anything turns up...while not holding my breath.

I have not. Not sure what that is.
I uninstalled, and re-installed with the other link. THAT seems to have worked.
I'll give the guy a thumbs up after I'm sure.
I must have been on a different question/answer thread, I printed the original one I used, different set/range of #s.

Hi Oomee. You've (your countrymen, women, and their families) have been on my mind and in my prayers all week.
It is a very strange part of life. The "carrying on".
It was a VERY long time before I felt anything but numb after our 9/11 attack.
The sadness never really leaves.
And, there are just no words that can really comfort during times like this.
It sounds like they're making good strides in the investigation, and several arrests.
Hopefully there will at least be a few less in society.

Oh, the issue I have is my power button, on the actual laptop. The power to it doesn't cut off properly unless ou restart THEN shut down. If you just shut down, the light on the power button stays on. Almost like it's in sleep mode.
