The way he looks at it is that there are hundreds of thousands of dogs/cats that need good homes.
You enjoy your pet while they're here, knowing from the get go that you will most likely outlive your pet.
When they pass, if so inclined, get another. The new one will love you as much as this one did.
...and, he's right. Just hard to be so cut and dry about it sometimes.
It didn't help that a woman was there with an old dog wrapped up in a towel, she was having it put down.
It was an old (13, same as Rita) Chihuahua, that didn't look like it was in that bad a shape. She said it had started dragging her hind legs this a.m.
...I wanted to snatch that baby out of her hands and bring her home with me...I truly contemplated it too.
So, I left thankful, but with a pit in my stomach.
That's what DH said...well, it's not like you didn't know she's old.
