Good morning Joey, Lori, Dale and lurkers

How are you feeling today, Lori? Hospitals are not a good place for rest, that's for sure.
No, they sure aren't. I was on the surgical floor the whole time, and directly across from the nurses station, which is a busy spot.

Good morning, Dale, Lori, Sara, Joey and lurkers:wub:

Sorry for those who didn't sleep well. My alarm gets me up at 4:25, but I got up a few times last night and slept well past the alarm. Is it Friday yet? Ugh! Still 2 more to go after today.

Lori, hope you get to go home today where you can get some rest. Hospitals stink for sleeping. Also hope the pain of the surgery is minimal.
Doing okay so far, they did it laparoscopically, so I don't have a huge incision.
Any pain or discomfort has been what's generally to be expected and typical.

Well you just had surgery, plus the nurses probably did not help coming in every hour to check your vitals

You will sleep better when you get home to your own bed, glad you are doing better :)

I had my appendix taken out when I was 8, they got it out just in time it was ready to burst lol

    I ready took a nap :shock::lol::lol::lol::lol:
They did that, every hour at first for many hours, then it changed to 4 hours, but if it wasn't them, it was someone else coming in. Respiratory, Social Services, housekeeping, changing IV bags, etc., etc., etc.
All the typical hospital surgery stuff.
Plus, I had several family members come to visit, which was nice, and comforting, but yeah, a steady stream of people in and out.

I'd taken an overnight bag on Monday in case I was admitted, and thankfully I'd grabbed my new silicone ear plugs. The nurses said that was a really good idea, and perfectly fine to use.
I just asked them to be sure to get me up if there was a fire alarm.
They were great to muffle all the noise, especially the IV pump alarms that go off when the bags empty.

@LoriP1702 walk, walk, walk. Slowly for sure but it does help to get moving.

Sleep at a hospital is pretty non existent. I am the same way about pain meds. They had to talk me into taking something at night so I could sleep in the hospital. WRONG since I generally fight the feeling pain meds give me, I ended up staying awake until the meds wore off.

Didn't even take Tylenol when I finally got home. I actually was released 2 days sooner than normal after my resection. Totally due to not taking pain meds. Pain meds slow things down, when it comes to the colon, so it woke up a lot sooner. :)

Hope you get to escape today! Just take it easy but keep moving when you can.

    Love you girl!!
I did. Was up right away, as soon as it was save...walking, walking, walking...slowly for sure.
The nurses told me that I was doing really well with walking and getting myself in and out of bed, to the bathroom and all that.

The people in recovery made me choose a pain med for directly after the surgery. I asked for something non-narcotic, they said absolutely not. That I was to have something, even if it was just a very small dose.
I asked for the lowest dose to start with because I could surely get more if needed.
They gave me a very low dose perkoset ?? (spelling), which they said was a small amount of the OxyC, with acetaminophen.
I didn't take anything else after that.
When I'd ask at the nurses station late yesterday morning if I could have a Tylenol, one of the nurses laughed out loud, she said that you *never* hear of anyone asking for Tylenol anymore. I guess it's more that people see it as an opportunity to get a bunch of pain meds. Sad.
If someone needs it, fine, but the nurses talked like no one starts on the low end anymore, they patients seem to want stronger meds right away.
They also said that they used to be able to give it without a Dr. order, but now they can't even give that.

I took 2 Tylenol last night before bed.

That's awesome that you were able to get along with out anything!!
I know it helped because I was able to drive home yesterday, because I hadn't had anything.
    DH followed me. :)

Have a safe trip home Lori,Bet Rita will be glad to see you when you get there :)
Rita is still at the sitter. I can't lift over 10 pounds for a few more days.
They'd keep her forever, and they weren't ready to send her home, so we're going to leave her there for a couple days.

Afternoon PW,ate a bunch of that stew for a midnight snack last night :drool::drool:one of my best batches to date :Dsending 1/2 gal home with my daughter when she brings my pie today and freezing 1/2 a gal so that leaves 1 more good feed in the ice box :)
    Sounded wonderful!!
Whut???? Who doesn't love pudding, especially with a little rum in it ;) kidding, sorta.

Lori, so glad you are home safe and sound. Hopefully a good night sleep in your own bed will have you feeling a little more normal.

Awwww, OBG, what a nice dad you are sending some stew home with DD. :)

Sorry you guys are dealing with heat, more heat and heat on the way. Wish we could swap for a bit. I'm tired of the cool wet summer. Last July we had 19 days above 80, this year a measly 8. :?: There were at least 8 days above 90, we won't see that this year at all. :((That was as of 8/12/16 so I'm not sure if there were more)
Thanks, glad to be home too. :nun:
That sounds like a really cool summer, well...non-summer. :(

Glad your great adventure is over and your home safe :wub:See you tomorrow :)
Thanks, I sure am too. :)

My pie will be here by 8:30 can't wait, homemade key lime

Oh, and I miss Rita fiercely. I feel so lost without my little shadow. :(

Also, this hospital thinks vaping is poison.
It's also a tobacco free facility, including electronic cigarettes.
I vaped here and there in the bathroom, I exhaled into my gown, but not much at all.
They offered a nic patch, I declined.
I figured at the very least, if necessary, I could put a tiny drop on my tongue and drink a lot of water...but I didn't have to resort to that.

They did say that there was an incident where a CNA had plugged in their device to their computer to charge...at the nurses station, and...yep...it exploded.
    ...awkward....
Killed a computer, and started a small fire.
I think the employee was immediately dismissed...rightly so.
I mean seriously, that's a special sort of dumb to do that.
Tobacco free facility, no e-cigs allowed, etc.

I took my ProVari, no charger, extra batteries in a case, and I shut it off when not in use.
I figure in that configuration, it's no more of a threat than a cell phone, tablet, or laptop.
I'm also sure that the IV pumps that run on battery back up are surely powered by the same batteries that we use, but of course, *they* haven't quite figured that out.

Good morning, Dale, Sara, Joey, KC, Fran, Angel, Lori and any other Lurkers[emoji4].
Lori, so glad you seem to be doing alright now.

Someone turned the fire up around here. Back to the sweltering heat through this weekend and looks like all next week, too. I'm ready for a season change.
