Thanks everyone, I go back to the ENT 10/18. I'm ready to put this to bed. It's been ongoing for over two years and I'm really getting frustrated. I went to my primary for voice problems (I was worried about cancer from smoking which led me to try vaping and quitting the stinkies) He referred me to the ENT and since then I've had my tonsils removed (atypical and could be cancerous - was not), discovered a benign cyst in my nasal cavity(I was not aware of it ) put on acid reflux/gerd med, ct scan and MRA done, sonogram on thyroid (oh hey, we found another potential problem) and then a repeat sonogram on thyroid (yep, still there) ugggg! In the mean time voice problems still there :grr: sorry for venting. I am very thankful that none of it has been serious but just tell me what's wrong with my voice or tell me it can't be fixed.

So glad you are having good weather, Paul. Yay!! For saving money with the tv and that's great news the car repairs weren't outrageous.

Glued to the tv with the hurricane coverage as I was with Harvey. Prayers going out to all affected.
:nun: Good grief, what a journey.
Prayers they get it all figured out soon, that's HAS to be maddening!!

Yes, I'm glued to the reports too.
AND, I started watching/following Satellite Beach on FB.
It's a favorite area of FL of mine, very nice community.
WELL, a gal posted that she was at a gas station/convenience store yesterday around noon, and her little dog jumped from the car and ran down a dirt road, bordered by a wooded area...well, immediately people reposted it, and there is quite a few still looking for the little dog.
So, I'm watching that conversation as well. *sigh* WHY do I do this stuff to myself, I just DO NOT know.
UGH, if I was close, I'd be out there looking too.

Good morning, Dale, Lori, Sara and Lurkers:wub:

Sara, hope you have good test results :)

Another beautiful day! Wish it could stay like this all year. I'm going out to try to find an HDMI splitter. We bought a new Roku that handles HD so I can load up the Direct Now. Looking to get rid of Direct TV satellite at over $100/month in favor of Direct Now streaming that is only 35. Gotta cut corners where you can these days. Got DW's car back and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Only a couple hundred. Bad enough, but not break the bank bad. Enjoy the lovely weather!
Good move Paul! We haven't had cable for years! We have Roku and Firesticks in all our rooms and just stream! I love not being tied down to any contracts! Good luck and glad the car repair didn't break the bank

...and, it appears that it's highly likely now that my nephew is going to end up homeless.
It sucks, but he will take it in stride, I imagine.
Course, he won't be alone in it. I fear a good many will be losing everything as well. :(
He always says that this is just what people already know if they live near the water in FL.

He's been through all the major storms.
Charlie, Wilma, Andrew, etc. that have gone though Florida in the last 25 years.
He rode out Sandy in a 3 room block home in The Bahamas with only a sand dune between him and the ocean.

I've still not heard back from him, (emails and texting) not sure why, he just may not want to talk about any of it. I've seen him in the daily fishing pics, so I know he's still there.

Where he lives, when he's not in Alaska, is Chokoloskee Island, it's S of Naples.
They just said, they're looking at a possible 10-15 ft. storm surge S of Ft. Myers...that would be his area.
There will be nothing left on Chokoloskee, or Everglade City, I suppose if they get that much.
Everything was under 8 ft. of water after Wilma there, and only a handful of homes are on stilts.
Many are park model homes or pull type trailers.

I'm very thankful that he's in Alaska right now, and I don't have to worry about him being safe. :nun:
My heart is heavy for all those in areas that have been and will be impacted by these storms.

I'm sure he has insurance. Just not sure if any of it covers all this, and I've seen many posting that you have to pretty much have video of all your belongings.
    No telling.
Don't get me wrong, it wouldn't be great to lose most everything you have, but it's just stuff.

They zoomed in on the satellite of Ft. Myers., unbelievable the concentration of population...and that's just one area.
It's really hard to even wrap my head around all of this. :(

I saw a woman interviewed last night. She said they were part of the group that were told to get off (the ship in the posted link) in Miami.
She said the cruise line just dumped them, and made them get off the ship.
I really find that hard to believe.
Then she said they couldn't get a flight, there were no rental cars, and the roads were clogged anyway.
I don't disbelieve the part about the flights, rental cars, or roads, but getting dumped off a ship when others didn't sounds more like you were asked to leave...as in there were other issues.
Like say getting kicked off a flight.

I'm definitely kicking myself for booking this vacation during hurricane season, but I'm really not concerned about it. We'll salvage what we can of it, and what we can't, we can't.
I'm *really* just hurting for those who are having to live through all this.

I won't lie, I'm sad I won't get to go feed the tarpons...but all that will get rebuilt eventually.

I've been following Royal Caribbean on social media, and if they can safely get people to port, if ports, and airports are open, they sail.
You may end up with alternate ports of call, but they'll take you somewhere.
Honestly, even just being on a ship is kind of a destination.

If you sail during hurricane season, you better learn to be flexible, and not just for where you go, you better be flexible on when you might return too, cuz it just might not be on time.
I'd seen a whole lot of people .....ing (first world problems) regarding what the cruise lines did or didn't do, and it really kind of just turned my stomach that people can be so shallow.
If your life/job/etc. is THAT important, don't take vacations where you're not the one in charge of making decisions...don't put yourself on a ship that you can't get off of...and especially don't go during hurricane season when a lot could be iffy.

One person was complaining because they couldn't get to Port Galveston and were going to have to stay on the boat longer...because their NANNY who was watching their kids couldn't stay the extra days, and a family member was going to have to go stay with the children....I mean, CAN YOU IMAGINE what an inconvenience THAT would be (being sarcastic ;) )....give me a break people get over yourselves, if you have kids you don't take with you, you need back up plans for back up plans...just my opinion.

Then, one person who had gone early (the day before Harvey hit) ended up with their car submerged in a parking lot at a hotel.
I still say...you have to think about what's going on and if you have to bail on your vacation due to circumstances, you just do. Life isn't perfect, and sometimes plans have to be changed.
I understand, missed or changed flights are expensive, and...we may find out some of that all first hand, but it's a vacation, it's not a necessity of life, and in the bigger picture as to what's going on, it's really not even on my mind at this point.

hahaha, I'm not sure I'd want to be stranded at sea even with unlimited booze. Thankfully, they will be safe though.

I saw a lady on the news, stuck in an airport, separated from her luggage which has her chemo meds, sobbing. My heart just broke. :(

I saw that lady too and was thinking, seriously?? Then to see the article that OBG just posted, there HAD to be more to her story.

If you can afford a nanny, you should be smart enough to have a back up plan, wow!! Then again.... No common sense.

    When was your trip again?

Copied from FB...this is just WILD!!

Fascinating video from Long Island, Bahamas. For several hours after Hurricane Irma passed through the ocean disappeared - there was no ocean visible for miles!. Apparently the sea is gradually returning. I wonder if this was the back side of the storm surge created by the Hurricane? It's certainly intriguing, and I couldn't help noticing all the conch shells

Long Island, Bahamas ! There is no more ocean ! As far as the eye can see . And they don't know where it went ! Wow .... Irma is more powerful than people think ! Be safe guys .

Update: Long Island has the all clear .. The sea is gradually coming back! Praise God....
