Got home about 15 minutes ago.
Followed DH most of the way. We actually skirted Chicago. I did just fine. We weren't originally going to go that way but decided to after we'd left in an effort to get out of the rain, and we did.
Crappy weather from his mom's to just North of Chicago.
They'd gotten 4.5 inches from Friday overnight, to this morning when we were leaving, and it was still supposed to rain until 9 pm tonight. Not sure if that changed or not.
I'm pooped, and heading to the shower.
If I don't make it back tonight, I'll be back around tomorrow.
Ready to just veg out on the sofa.

His mom is doing okay. She has moments when she breaks down, but that will go on for awhile, understandably so.
Despite the circumstances DH and I had a good visit, and we'll be back there in about 4 weeks for our annual early Thanksgiving.
There will be a celebration of life luncheon then for family, then two other luncheons down the road with his ham radio friends, and his IBM friends. Those we won't be attending as far as I know.

Oh, and I only followed DH most of the way because when we got to Effingham, he went a different direction so he could stop by our house at the lake.
I went the other direction and came on home. Lol's.

    Welcome home Lori

It's been dreadfully quiet without you!
    Lol's.

Hey Lori, here is a link your DH may like.
    HAM RADIO VAPERS
    Oh thank you KC.
    FIL was the HAM.
Thursday night his chat group "The Teenagers" (I think that's what they called themselves) did an hour long round the table, so to speak, giving remembrances of him.
He'd had his license since he was 15, and would have been 80 in December.
He was also active with a group from the UP of Michigan.
His original call letters were NSH. I'd have to look for the rest, can't recall.
He was almost to the end of a huge new, fancy tower project.
The people were coming this coming week to finish it. :(

The rest of the tower wasn't up when he sent this, but it's huge now.
She called to tell the installer that he passed, and he told her if she decided to have it taken down just to let him know, he come take it down, no charge.

MIL is going to still keep in touch with the group, and will still go to the different get togethers. They were married for 49 years and has gone to everything with him all these years.

They got married on June 8th, 1968.
