Is the instapot better than an air fryer or crockpot?? I don’t have any counter space left in my kitchen to buy another appliance lol

Dr gave me a different antibiotic and a refill on a pain med ugh no other plan of action right now man this sucks!!!
    Hi Joey

Lols, I have no idea if it’s better or not yet. I got it to replace my crockpot in all honesty. Yes it’s large but that’s why I wanted that one, that and the shape.

Hopefully this antibiotic will get the job done:)

    Good morning lurkers

Makes sense, Dale. :thumb: We use ours every day to toast English muffin/bagels, for dinner maybe once a week and it came in handy last Thanksgiving to make the green bean casserole.

My co worker loves her instant pot. She uses it a lot. For me, it’s an expensive (got it a few years ago) hard boiled egg and rice maker. I tried a couple things in it: beef roast, chicken tenders and chili. The meat was tough but the chili was good.

IMO it’s only better than an air fryer or crockpot if you get the ninja foodi which supposedly can take the place of all those appliances and even grill indoors. Checked their website and they have a few models which do different things. But I’m sure more companies are heading towards the multipurpose small appliances.

Joey :nun::nun::nun: that these new antibiotics work.
    Good morning Sara :)

I’ve heard it’s a love or hate thing, hope I don’t start to hate it

yeah that's the one thing that the air fryer i bought doesn't say that it does is grill...whereas my toaster oven does....but meh I've got a george foreman type indoor grill in one of the cabinets if I ever need to grill anything...the only thing that we used the grill setting for was hot dogs for ruqaya but found that the toast setting worked just the same

I love my crockpot but haven't used it in a long while because there's just no counter space left...
I may retire the toaster to the cabinets, a lot easier to drag out when needed....also the ninja blender, I wish I used it more than I do...but there again, a lot easier to drag out when needed and all of its parts are in the cabinets anyways, just the base is out and one of the single serve cups....if I move those 2 away, I might be able to get the crockpot out....now I do have a large crockpot, I cooked a turkey in it once :pervy: just had to use foil to seal the gap between the lid and the crockpot....that turkey fell off the bones, though I probably used more liquid then I should have and I don't remember how long I let it cook but it was a loooong time
I don't mess with turkey often though because none of us really like it, I don't mind it but it's not something that I care too much for...but I currently have 2 taking up half of my freezer that were donated to me and eventually I do need to fix them...
I just hate wasting food, the last one I fixed I ended up throwing away almost half of it because I was the only one eating it, the kids wanted nothing to do with it.
I may end up trying to give them to my neighbors but they always act funny when I try to give them things...but I'd rather give it away than waste it....

I think the people who don’t love the IP are the ones, like me, who don’t take the time to utilize it to its fullest potential. I love the eggs in it because they peel so much easier than boiling on the stove and I’ve tried so many different stove top techniques. IP it’s 5-5-5. 5 min pressure cook, 5 min natural release and 5 min ice bath. Very rarely do I have a difficult peel. The rice is super easy, 1:1, 3 min pressure cook, 10 min natural release and comes out perfectly every time.

Also my limited knowledge of it was....you can make meals quicker...no, not really. You have to wait for it to come up to pressure and some recipes require full natural release, both of which can take a bit of time. That being said, I do have a collection of recipes I would like to try with it. Having this extra time at home I will have to make it a point to do so. One downfall....I’m not creative with food fails. If something doesn’t turn out right, we’re stuck eating it that way

As far as the air fryer, in addition to the frozen app foods/fries/tots, we’ve used it to cook fresh chicken breasts cut into nuggets or tenders and hand breaded, roasted veggies/cubed potatoes both white and sweet and homemade calzones. Reheated foods that the micro would leave soggy.

I have seen people do just about anything in it from burgers/steaks/chops to baked pastas to breads/desserts and even fish. We haven’t ventured into that just yet.

    Good morning Shad
You sound like me with the turkey, I don’t care for it either. I eat it best as turkey salad.
I used to give our free ones away too but after going hungry I’ve learned to eat what we have

oh yeah, i eat what I gots...it's just turkey is such a hassle and as I'm really the only one that will eat it, it's really not worth the hassle...I mean I will eat them (or give them away) eventually...
I'm not really that picky of an eater, same there I've gone without food many of times, so yeah, I don't mind eating whatever so long as it's not seafood or tomatoes (mild allergies)
it's just...stupid turkeys  .... not really worth all that effort if it's just for me and I can't really eat on it fast enough before it goes bad, I'm not a big meat eater....
hoping that if I can air fry some of it the kids might be interested

Guess you could coat it and try to convince them it’s chicken

I take it you don’t have any way to freeze it? :(

Next time I think I'll freeze it after cooking so it doesn't go bad

hahahaha I have a thing with meat with bones :p
I can not stand gristle and fat...
I don't mind turkey, actually I prefer lunch meat turkey over lunch meat chicken....and where possible turkey substitutes for pork products, lately I've been trying meatless substitute products (lightlife hot dogs are pretty spot on, if you like hot dogs)

but there again, I'm really not much of a meat eater so I mean....I can take it or leave it...
I think also, I need to season it better somehow when cooking
which is why I think when I cooked it in the crockpot/slow cooker it turned out better than in the oven, helped trap the flavors better and didn't need to baste it, just rotate it...
