When kiddo is old enough we will definitely get him a basic cellphone. When we were younger there were pay phones everywhere, these days not so much. So that will be nice for emergencies and such.

We still have a landline, but mostly because he is still young. It's rarely used, except for those darn telemarketing calls

I didn't have a cell phone until I was 28 or 29. Lol and I had to save up enough money to buy a car AND be able to pay for my own insurance.
Yep, had to buy my own first car too...I was able to do that at 17 though because I grew up on a working farm and we earned money raising the cows...we were each responsible for raising a calf when it was born and tending to it until it went to slaughter and we got a portion of the money that it sold it for...so by the time it was time to get a car, we each had a nice little nest egg there for it.

What an awesome experience. Were you sad when it was time to sell, I would have been so attached. Baby cows are the cutest ever.

I rode my 10 speed to work every day to save up, with the exception of bad weather.

Nah, not sad...it was life on the farm...did love the baby calves...and feeding them with a bottle when their mama wouldn't or couldn't do it herself was a neat experience...but then they grow up and they're not so cute anymore...we used to go with our dad to drop them off before school...kind of weird to load up the cows, head to the slaughterhouse and then off to school.

    Oh, that sounds cool! :thumb:

Wow, I'm definitely feeling old right now. Talking about pay phones and 10 speeds. Now it's cell phones and mountain bikes. The other day at work I waited on a girl, now adult and taller than me, that I used to babysit. :(
    Oh puleezze
The kids I babysat have kids who have kids

 Slaughterhouse. I completely missed that in your first post. My brain must have purposely skipped that word. So then you raised beef cattle? Here I'm all tra la la-ing, thinking dairy cows being sold to other farms. Oyvey!

Yeah, beef cattle...we did sell some at auction and some of those were usually bought by other farms...we always had plenty of steaks and hamburger in the freezer though! ;)
