So, the village where I work, the sales tax is now 8.85%.
The county is trying to pass an addt'l 2%, and the state (IL) is trying to get another 1%.

    11.85%

Jan 31, 2017 - Local sales taxes are collected in 38 states. The five states with the highest average combined state and local sales tax rates are Louisiana (9.98 percent), Tennessee (9.46 percent), Arkansas (9.30 percent), Alabama (9.01 percent), and Washington (8.92 percent).

If you shop at the WW in Sullivan Mo. always check out at the east end of the store, the taxes are lower at that end because the city line runs through the middle of the place

Sorry about your pump, Paul. Hope you get it all fixed up and the repairs aren't super costly.

The wind is here, uggg! Went to work, explained what was happening on the homefront and got a long weekend out of it. Have to use my comp time, but that is ok, for peace of mind.

Decided to skip Wally World tonight because I ended up having to work an extra 30 minutes to make up for taking an extra 30 at lunch...all because my son tried to go register the truck that my bf just sold him and the place was packed. I ended up telling him to come take me back to work and then go back...and then it was all for nothing because they wouldn't even issue him the tag, even though he had a notarized title signed over to him, the bill of sale, and the odometer disclosure statement...this is all we've ever had to have in the past, and even online it's says that's all you have to have, but now they insist that he has to have the actual registration of the vehicle, even though that was in LA and it's being registered here in MS...problem is the bf didn't have it registered for over a year now...so now he has to sign some stupid affidavit about it and the kid has to go back up there tomorrow and go through all this again (after spending over 2 hours there today:glare:)...UGH! I hate freaking bureaucrats!

Yep, that's why whenever we can, we buy stuff here in MS instead of there in LA...our sales tax is 7%...and of course I get caught with the AL one too anytime I go back to visit family. :glare:

    Make another one
I have Shepard's Pie to work on now.

Holy cow! We have 7.25% here in Texas, in my town. Outside of town, it's 6.75%. We have no state income tax, but pretty high property taxes. I can't believe that they want to jack up the sales tax to over 11%!!! If I lived there, and wanted to buy something expensive, I'd buy it in another state.

Well, anything with a title (vehicles, boats, motorcycles) they're taxed at a different rate.
The JD Compact Utility tractors we sell at work, lawn equipment, misc. other large ticket items, nope not exempt....right now, 8.85%
Makes it really hard to compete with JD dealers in nearby counties.
They're saying it's "for the children", and "for safety", so if you try to protest it, it will come back to bite ya.
    "For the children"...isn't it always.
The thing that ticks me off so much is that there's no real proposed spending reform.

Guess I need to start packing IL can kma lol
Oh yeah...and it's going to get a lot worse as time goes on.

    That's funny!!
Centralia, where I used to live, parts of it sit across 3 counties.

Yeah, I had a wind advisory come through on my FEMA phone app.
    Gusts of 40-45 mph.
Glad you get a long weekend. I'm sure you're about frazzled.

    @oldbikeguy - In Centralia, there's a street, Clin-Mar Blvd.
One side of the street is in Clinton Co., the other side is in Marion Co..
You could only go to one liquor store on Sunday, they sat in Clinton County, on the edge of town, the rest of the county couldn't sell liquor on Sunday. You could get beer or wine, but no hard liquor.

Bwahahahaha, you better git in that tub girl!

The wind is really bad out there. Waiting for the french doors to blow in (cheap builder's grade). They are at the top of the list of things to fix this year.

Frazzled, I am. Another trip to the dr's today. I was coming home for lunch to check in and he was coming back. Grrr! I really wish he would just relax like he's supposed to. I'm gonna be cracking the whip the next 4 days. ;)

Oh sorry, I fell off the wagon and I think there are only crumbs left of the brownies.
