Morning Lurkers! Busy busy busy the last couple days.
So question for those that know the areas. I may be making a bit of a road trip in a few weeks and am looking my route options. Option A takes me through MO, 55 to St Louis then 44 out of St Louis. Likely late at night. Option B takes me further south and into AR 57 to 55 to 40, and from all appearance the biggest city I go through that way is Little Rock. A few extra miles, a few extra minutes. Is it worthwhile to avoid the St Louis route?

    Is two lane highway out?
Not sure where you're going, but US 51 runs N & S through IL. You could take that until you get S of St. Louis.
I think from Centralia, IL I64 is about 30 minutes or so, depending on traffic, and construction once you get on the interstate.

Where is your destination area? You don't have to be exact, for safety purposes, but it might help to know that.

I personally wouldn't want to be in the St. Louis area after dark, no matter what time of day.:2c:
Or Little Rock, or Memphis, etc....note the trend.
    Daytime is iffy enough, anymore.
That said, in the St. Louis area, it seems there are daily happenings, not unlike any major city, and your odds of something happening are prob slim, DH is all over St. Louis (daytime), and doesn't have any issues.

I also tend to be overly careful, so let OBG, or Dale weigh in, and don't just go by me.

    Good morning HM. :)
I missed getting to speak to you yesterday when I was lurking from work.
Sometimes I have time to post when I'm at work, some days I don't.

I think you're getting some of this rain too, or will be.

Right. I understood that. But good to clarify anyway.
They're planning to go through 2018. I didn't meant to mislead.
I just meant sad in the sense that these well loved vendors are even having to form, and discuss their exit plans with their customers.

Sure is sad that some of our favorite venders even have to consider that they may have to go under if it comes to that. [emoji53] Before DIY, NT was one of my main juice sources. Keep fighting the fight is the best thing that we can all do.

So, no complaints here. Just kind of a pain in the you know where...pun intended.
I don't envy your day today, hope your tummy doesn't give you too many fits. (((HUGS)))

Aww thanks it's ok. I deal with it. Did get me some jello, tummy is happier now [emoji23]

I know zilch about MO or St Louis ...
interstate 40 is fine if you don't mind being bored out of your mind, not a whole lot out there.

    Good morning all!

I found MBV early on, the went to DIY pretty fast. Cheapskate dontcha know.
But yes, it is sure sad that it's heading that direction.
Hopefully something will stop it, I haven't totally given up hope on that yet.

Oh good, glad the jello is helping. :)

Speaking of, I need to eat some lunch myself. I won't elaborate though, nothing like not being able to eat and others talking about what they're eating.

Eventually, near Dallas. First 6 or so hours will be one night, the rest the following day. That means likely crashing points would be near St Louis, or near Carbondale. I'm thinking St Louis is not the best place to be, but my knowledge is limited to what I hear on the news.

There is virtually NOTHING between Mt. Vernon and Carbondale, not that comes to mind. If you even need gas, get it at Mt. Vernon.
Get S of St. Louis if possible, morning traffic will be awful.
There are places around Fairview Heights, there are LOADS of places to eat there too.

Yuck. I just looked at google maps, there isn't a great way to go.
I'd almost go straight down to Nashville thru Indiana, then cut over, but that adds about 2 hours. :(
    Construction through IL is MISERABLE.

Lots of good places to stop after you get past 270 on 44 in St louis county or before you get to it going east :)
