we will be in the new house 3 years in Jan. Such an exciting and stressful time.
Sara, I work at an equipment company, there are three other women there, the rest are all men.
Men are soooooooooo much easier to work with than women.
I had worked there about 4 years when this job with the city was literally dropped in my lap.
I felt like I needed to go there because the retirement was better, everything else was about the same, basically a lateral move other than retirement.
I stayed there right at 6 months. They didn't want me to leave, I explained that I didn't fit the mold of the other women there, they agreed, and pretty much begged me to stay.
But I just couldn't.
I worked from home for about a year and a half after that, then the woman who had taken my position at the equipment company left there, and they wanted me to come back....I did, but at the time, DH only wanted me going back as part time.
I could work full time, but I don't want to if I don't have to.
(just a little background info so you don't have to wonder. )

Omgosh!! You are so right. We finally got a male supervisor and I thought yessss! We could use some testosterone. Unfortunately things are no better. I wish I could go part time. I begged and was told no, you are too important. Yeah right.

That's what I found.
They weren't strong enough to actually *do* anything to change the situation, just keep sweeping stuff under the rug and hiring new people.
The main problem was one woman, who basically *ran* the office (in her own mind), she was the main instigator of most everything, and it was a situation that she was in year 23 of her 25 years needed to retire.
They couldn't/wouldn't do anything to address the problem because it was easier to wait it out until she retired.
Sorry, I wasn't raised that way...if you're a
disturber, and cause problems in your work environment, you need to move along to another job.

That's why we have a hiring hall with about 140 contractors too work for
the way many of us see it is they created the monster so live with it,lot's of the co's don't see it that way 
Something like that except mine are made from one continuous strand about ten foot long
