The year I got married the tree stayed up til July

Mine almost made it that far one time

    Now they know I'm a weirdo. :D

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Maybe OBG can add to this, but I think they hold their value pretty well for resale.

They do and also for trade in on bigger ones :w00t:

They have permanent airlines where we're at, and he didn't want to chance getting any moisture in his air tools.

I put 10 drops of Mystery air tool oil in mine every time I use them 20+ years on some and they still work :2c:

They'll need that list for their insurance claim.

That and pics help also :)

Interesting...wonder if DH knows about that. When he started, a (life long) mechanic that just retired this year, helped him with what to get.
Oh yeah, forgot about trading in/up with those tools too!
Great idea regarding pics. I thought of photo copied receipts too, while I was in the tub.
You keep your originals for your taxes. DH never did that though. We never had enough to file long form.
DH would often use secondary/stable jacks as back up when he was working under things. He said he didn't trust people walking around in the shop in case someone bumped his jack accidentally.
Gosh...this convo brings back memories...we hemorrhaged $$ that first year in tools and assorted paraphernalia.

Evening Fran. I did catch you. :)

When my DH first started where we work, he started as a mechanic. He didn't have tools, well not much to speak of, for that type of work, so he needed a lot.
He got his tool boxes at Sears. Craftsman.
For the basic tools he needed, he bought Craftsman, then Snap On for specialty tools, and other misc. "cool" stuff.
He'd have loved to have gotten all Snap On, but at the time, he just couldn't justify it.
If you have any pneumatic tools, *do* get the thingie that protects your equip from moisture.
He did that right away. They have permanent airlines where we're at, and he didn't want to chance getting any moisture in his air tools.
The upside of Snap On tool boxes or tools is their resale value.
Maybe OBG can add to this, but I think they hold their value pretty well for resale.
Also, if you leave your tools there, make sure you have a list of everything in case there is ever a fire or other loss.
They'll need that list for their insurance claim.
We have to do that for our mechanics...and, one year we had a *near miss* with a tornado....it only ripped off the entire roof on half our building, and some guys did have some claims...if memory serves, it's been a number of years, like almost 15 years ago.

My toolbox will stay there if I need anything to take home I will get a carry box or bag. I am going to keep all my receipts and take pictures of everything I keep there. If I get any air tools/compressor I will keep them at home. They have air lines there, I would not trust them though with all the moisture that is in that plant. Pretty much going to go with cordless power tools, they have a full machine shop there also that I will have to learn how to use, some I already know others I will need training on. Thinking about this is making my head spin with all the money I am going to spend :shock::shock:

    Thanks for the advise :)

You'll be fine. Not sure what you'll be doing, maybe you won't need a lot of tools.
If so, you'll just accumulate as you go. Maybe check Craig's list too.
    Sweet dreams Joey.

Probably around $2000 - $3000 worth of tools if I buy new tools. Going to check Craig's list and pawn shops :)

Try the local Snap-on guy for repo's happens all the time some deals can be had, and they still have a life time warranty :2c:they also sell starter sets for most trades it's a better deal than buying them all separate :)

    Good morning Lynn
    In wake up mode ;)
Me too. I wanted to get up early because I have TONS to get done today so I set my alarm for 6:30. For some reason, I woke up at 5 and could not go back to sleep, so I just got up. I'm headed to the grocery store at 7 for milk.
