    Good afternoon all.

KC, so glad you're on the road to recovery!!
Sounds like things are going okay for everyone else.
    Sara, hope you feel better!!

So, it's been a long week....and...I did a thing (well, we both went, but was mainly my idea to expedite)

    Link below...
    Adopt MiMi on Petfinder

We adopted a dog, and picked her up last night, from the same rescue where we got Rita from back in 2008.
She had a big vet appt. yesterday before we picked her up, shots, heart worm testing (was neg.), etc.
She was listed as a Dachshund, but the vet thinks she's a mix of Dachshund and Pocket Beagle, they're called Beaschund, or Doxle.
Doesn't matter to me, I wasn't looking for a pure breed anything, just a good dog.
She's a bit larger than Rita was, still small, and she weighs 12 lbs.
Should be full grown at 2 years old.

I'm not 100% sure about my feelings going forward with this so soon, but the house was just way too quiet.
DH is gone, usually one night a week, and has a couple near week long trips coming up, wasn't looking forward to the quiet house.

Anyway, her name is MiMi, and she's a two year old female, just a very sweet, good girl (so far).
We picked her up last night, things went pretty well, first nights/first few days are always a getting to know each other period.
Technically, we have two weeks to test drive her, we can take her back, no questions asked, and the adoption fee will be fully refunded, but I imagine she has found a forever home.

She is to be spayed and micro chipped on the 13th, so I take her back the night before and the woman from the rescue will take her (they pay for the procedures as well, basically a break even for the adoption fee. that includes all her up to date shots and vet check).
Then pick her back up on the 14th I think she said.

I am still fiercely missing Rita, it's been much worse that I ever imagined it would be.
This past Wed. was one week, and it's felt like an eternity.
I'm not sure adopting MiMi is really going to help with the grief process, but she is a distraction from it for sure.
I haven't been good company, so I haven't stopped by, but I hate for too many days to pass without popping in.

We're supposed to get snow tomorrow, I've seen 1-3 and 3-5, so who knows.
I think the low tomorrow night is supposed to be something like 4...ugh.

    That's about all from here...
Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. :)

Ohhhh I’m so glad you stopped in. (((hugs))) I’ve been thinking about you. MiMi is adorable!! Of course you are missing Rita. She has a piece of your heart and will be waiting until you are reunited. Hope you don’t get too much snow! Stay warm and safe and enjoy snuggling with that gorgeous girl.

Sara,I think my gd is in your neck of the woods. She's in Buffalo with her daughter for a cheerleading competition. She's traveling with friends.
Sweet!! Weather seems to be decent this weekend. Some snow but not too bad. Hope she has a good competition and brings home a trophy! How are you doing, you’re another one I think of often

Glad she's getting decent weather. I'm doing ok.I have my rough moments but that's to be expected for some time yet. I try to stay busy and that really helps. I've been spending most weekends with my daughter and that helps too.:)

Of course you still miss Rita but I don’t think you’ll regret getting Mimi, she’s cute :) Hope she makes a good companion for you.

So glad you have your daughter nearby and that you are ok. The hard times are the worst, but necessary I suppose to heal. Sending lots of hugs your way.
