Ohhh and the vacation schedule was finally passed out, there is a good possibility we won’t be able to go on vacation this year because my :censored: supervisor has blocked off at least 10 weeks of time where only one person can ask for time off....May-Sept which is pretty much has NEVER been done the entire time I’ve worked there (15 years) it will be my turn, hopefully tomorrow so I will know more then

But they appreciate us and want to retain the quality workers they have (that came directly from their mouths)

Ha! Gubberment never does anything good for anyone other than themselves

They are taking one small step towards getting rid of our comp time. My guess, next year it will be completely gone. Big deal? Depends.

We don’t get overtime because it’s a 35 hr work week. We are scheduled to work late on Thursdays on a rotating schedule (I use “rotating” loosely  because essentially it’s never been done fairly) When you work late, you can either get paid for those 2 hours or bank them to use as comp time for another day (work late 4 Thursdays get a day off) They don’t like that and have been wanting to get rid of it for forever.

So now....instead of working 9-7 on a Thursday you will work 11-7. Some will still work 9-7 and earn comp, some won’t. Think it will be scheduled fairly?? I don’t. In exchange they’ve given us a “raise” DH says in the long run it will benefit us but in the meantime we lose those extra days to use. That means sometimes you need a “sanity” day, gone. Or something comes up in the middle of the year for kiddo and I can’t take a day kind of thing.

There’s more but it’s complicated so I will spare you. But I’m angry! Just one more reason to hate my job and wish I could just say seeya. Dh tells me every week to just quit but I feel like that is the wrong thing to do, if that makes sense. Always the what if scenario.

    This too shall pass.......

Oh Sara! I don’t know what to say, none of that sounds good for you :(

Blocking off May - September is a dig against moms with school age children :glare: That’s just wrong! :nah:

Yeah, it stinks. I hope I overreacted about the vacation. There are 5 people ahead of me to schedule theirs, so I felt very doom and gloom yesterday when I saw all the time he blocked off. Fingers crossed. ;)

I do believe there is a silver lining in every dark cloud, just take me a day or two to see it  Hope everyone has a good day!! :)

    Good morning lurkers

Sadly it looks like no Virginia vacation this year. I was still able to get some long weekends in the summer so fingers crossed the weather is decent.

@JoeyC after 10 you are vested into the retirement. 20, you get the health insurance from your current contract. Obviously it would be better to stay to 30 but I can always leave and get a job somewhere else.

Yum, Dale. Best of both worlds pizza and spaghetti  sounds like Kirk had a good long life. Still sad though.

    Sorry :(

Yeah that’s a little over load
Awww, it’s ok. The silver lining is they haven’t taken my vacation away. I still get it, just have to take it at a different time. I took those 6 days and split it up, long weekend in July and long weekend in August.

Dh is talking maybe going for a shorter stay around Easter. I dunno if I really want to do that.

We’ve gotten some snow today but there’s nothing sticking :thumb: Was pretty in town but out here it’s just a fine mist like snow, makes you squint

Well I noticed you read but didn’t post

We see snow every once in a while but it’s not something we get a lot of, we’re much more likely to have an ice storm. Cold this morning at 26 but warming up quite a bit today, I think about 50.

Ick! I would rather snow than ice. Sure do wish it would be 50 here. :thumb: We are supposed to get quite a bit of snow today. 5-9 inches. It didn’t start as early as predicted so I’m leaning closer to 5.

Agreed, snow is better than ice and usually less damaging.

5 inches would be a lot for us! You be careful out there.
