My first fruit dehydration experiment turned out well. I knew I would like the apples but I also liked the strawberries. The bananas were good and tasty but they were kind of sticky and they stuck a little bit on the grates. I may try them again and do the longer. I put some of the strawberries on our salads tonight and I liked them.

I cannot believe it was so beautiful today and they are calling for rain again tomorrow. I hate that because Perry was going to mow for me. I am glad he is not going to work tomorrow. He needs a break.

Hope everyone sleeps well and has a nice and pleasant Sunday.

Good evening, everyone

Aww thanks for your votes of confidence. :)

Hope your day (night) goes by fast, Joey.

Holy wow....a baby, Dale? Have I really been on here that long  That means kiddo was 2.

Rat2, I loved dehydrating mushrooms and apple slices. We have just a basic 5 tray Nesco (think that's what it's called)

Hmmm....when it rains here, it pours but we have a guardian angel watching over us. Thursday night one of the blades on our ceiling fan sheered right off at the metal piece. Somehow it flew to the left of our bed and landed on the floor between it and Lucy's crate. Thank goodness she wasn't laying there as she sometimes does. She was on my side on her fluffy bed. Needless to say, I was up the rest of the night. Scared the you know what out of us. After googling, I learned there was a recall on it. Here's the kicker...the fans were installed in 2013, but the recall only affected ones that were sold between 2014 and 2016. DH reached out to the company but as far as I know hasn't heard back. We have 3 of them in our home. 2 which were used every day. Then on Sunday our fridge bit the dust. We were able to save most of everything. Dh ran out and grabbed a mini fridge at Walmart. We figure that Kiddo can take it to college when he goes. Taking guesses on what will go next. I'm guessing the microwave since we already replaced the dishwasher  Or maybe the stove.

Hope you all have a great evening

    Good evening Sara
‘Oh no I’m sorry to hear about your house woes, bet that fan did scare you!
When I was a kid dad and I were eating at the table, he had just sat back in the chair and the light cover smashed into his plate! It was a very heavy cover and exploded into a jillion pieces, would have hurt him badly if he hadn’t moved his head at just the right moment.

Oh my gosh Sara, that would have scared the bejesus out of me too, and also make me scared of the other fans. Bless your heart. A fridge is a big purchase. I can't believe I have not had to replace my 30+ year old one. When the door messed up, I just knew I was going to get a new one but nope, the man told dad they didn't make em' like they used to and his was better than most of the new ones. grrrr

Hope you find a reasonable one. We have a couple of discount appliance stores here. Maybe y'all do too.

I love my dehydrating divorce-a-versary present! I was a little bit disappointed in my first attempt though. I tried frozen and canned peaches and the both just gummed up like sticky jerky. The raspberries have been going since yesterday at noon and they are still soft. I will save my money on the green beans and just go outside and chew on a couple of sticks.

I will still experiment more stuff. It came with a very nice recipe book and I will definitely try most of them. I am sure it will make good jerky. I just ordered a jerky gun from Amazon. A friend of Perry's made some turkey jerky using a gun. It had a different texture but I thought it was good.

It is pretty sad that the only exciting thing happening to me is a dehydrator.

    I know you’ll figure it out :)
I hope so because I hate throwing stuff out to the birds. I have 4 apples and some strawberries ready now. Those are my fav so far. This is just experimenting. The jerky is what I am looking forward to. When I see London Broil on sale, I'm in. I do think the fruit is a good snack. Better than potato chips.

Perry took his brother out for a belated birthday dinner. They were going to eat sushi. Sort of hurt my feeling because he did not invite me to go. The place they were going was here. If he had taken him to a place where they lived, I would not have been disappointed. Oh well. I get my feelings hurt too easily anyway. I was glad to stay home again and get my hair washed and enjoy a nice quiet evening.

I am going to take advantage of it and go get in bed and read til I get sleepy. Hope everyone sleeps well and has a great day tomorrow.

    Good morning lurkers :)

Aw Rat2 you shouldn’t be hurt, guys need bonding time just like girls they just don’t admit it so freely ;) DH goes camping with a bunch of guys twice a year and I definitely don’t want to go

I’m going to try working with Randy again for deer season starting around October 15th when muzzle load season starts. Also planning to introduce him to a couple of deaf people who might make good workers for him.

It is nice here too. I went out early and got my steps done.

My heart just breaks for what our people in the mountains are going through with the hurricane. A friend of Perry's was taking a load of donated stuff to them yesterday so Perry and I both bought a 5 gal. bucket of cleaning solution and a 5 gal. bucket of bleach to add to his load. I know it is not much but at least it is something. Made me feel good. The man that owns it remembered me from buying there before. I talked him into donating a bunch of empty plastic gallon jugs to go with my order. Sometimes, it's hard to say no to me.
