Could not wait for winter on the green beans. They were delicious. heehee Next Perry wants to can some tomatoes. He sure does love to can.

Have not been to the $ Store in a good while. I went in there to get a birthday bag and came out with $30. Went to the grocery store because Perry was making meatloaf tonight and needed green peppers and onions. He makes a really good meatloaf. He said he fixed me supper for a treat. A real treat would have been if he had cleaned up the kitchen.

No big plans for the weekend. What's everyone doing?

Oh, it is not all that much of a mess. He has a huge canner, and he does it outside on the turkey fryer. I think what I like the most is going to his pantry with such a selection for dinner. Our only issue is that he thinks the microwave is only supposed to be used for heating coffee. Not me. I use it for everything.

It is just beautiful weather here, with nice temperatures, but we are starting to need some rain (even though it makes me feel bad).

The coffee tastes good to me this morning. I think I will go take it outside and enjoy the quiet.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Rain forecast for most of today which should keep the temps down a bit. Debating on whether to hit the range or not. Might wait until tomorrow as there tends to be fewer people first thing after they open. With the weather putting a damper on holiday weekend activities, I suspect there'll be more folks than usual today.

Football has kicked off in earnest for the district. One of the high schools had a pretty good night on Thursday with a 47-0 win. Apparently parents from the opposing team were starting to leave after the first quarter saying they'd seen enough.

Good morning Dale

I had to take Thursday off to drop my car at the dealership :) Can’t remember if I’d said. Middle of August we took it for its yearly inspection. The check engine light came on two days prior, turns out it wouldn’t pass and that gm had put out a special coverage in ‘23 for the evaporative emissions purge pump. It is all fixed and inspected now thank goodness.

How’s your daughter in law doing?

Sorry both you ladies took a spill. Hope you’re both ok!

Summer is officially over for us. Our traditional visit to the State Fair was yesterday. Perfect day for it but yeeesh, I need to get back on track. I am so out of shape and my muscles were cursing at me by the time we left  Kiddo goes back to school on Tuesday. His very last first day of high school. :( I’m feeling that big time too. Such a bittersweet time in life. Hormones are a mess. I’m a mess LMAO!

This too shall pass. Maybe I should make THAT my first tattoo

Hope you all are having a nice start to the day!

Sunday again! We will have to go back to my house because my second quote on fixing the ceiling in my garage says he will be there early Monday morning. The first quote was $975. The second one was $450 plus $100 for supplies. Not sure if I made the right decision. I'll have to get back to you on that one. Hopefully, all will be done right. After my experience with the washing machine pipe and the lawyer handling dad's estate, I'm a bit skeptical, to say the least.

Good afternoon Sara and Rat2.

DIL is doing good, already back at work, oh to be young again!

Good that your vehicle is taken care of. Last first of school huh, will he be going to college?

Wishing you the best with your repair work Rat2, it’s a crap shoot for sure.

    Good evening Dale

Glad you slept in! Need that every once in a while. lol Great news on your DIL!

Hope all goes well with the replacement, Rat2.

Yes, he's planning on applying to University of Buffalo. But not quite sure on what he wants to do. My advice to him was to start out at a community college to get his feet wet and try different things. He wants to commute so there are a few options.

I'm excited for him and sad too.

Aw believe it or not you will adjust and sounds like he’ll still be at home for a while.

    Have a good night!

You are right about that. On Monday morning, when they said they would be there, they failed to appear. I texted him and he said he would have to get back to me. At lunchtime, he texted me and said, "Tomorrow morning." No apologies. I was irritated because I had gotten up early to clean the garage out so they could work. Grrrr

So I decided to give them a second chance. They did show up on Tuesday, but they changed the specifications on my quote. (Instead of 5 seams, they were only going to do 3. After arguing nicely, he called his boss twice (the man who gave me the quote). Both conversations were done in front of me and in Spanish (which I think is disrespectful to a certain degree). Oh well, they decided they would do the five, but the supplies were going to be much more than they quoted.

By then, I had reached my BS maximum quota for the day, and I asked him to leave because I was going to get another quote and I would call them if I needed them.

My 3rd quote was the same as the first. I have not decided which one I will go with, but it is going to be $1000. Huge Grrrr

Oh, and my sort of new laptop did the same thing it did before, and would not turn on. I gave it a couple of days to rest, but today I went to BestBuy and bought a new one. It is the first time I have been disappointed in a refurbished product from Amazon. I decided that for me, a new one would do better. My electronics are very important to me.

I made the mistake of looking at the new TVs. Oh my.

I almost bought one but got out of there as fast as I could. Boy, have they really improved. The prices are almost as much as I paid for my first car. I am going to have to think about this purchase and do some research and comparison shopping.

Perry's friend gave him a Walmart bag full of already shelled blackeyed peas. We did the second and third canning today. We ended up with 8 quarts and 40-some pints. The pint jars are perfect for two people. We are running low on salsa, so I guess that will be our next project.

Hope everyone is having a great week.
