He's eating his young! Sweet!

LOL rodents aren't cute. Neither are snakes and spiders.

Well, y'all know Lexi. :)

I also have a colony of five sugar gliders (Australian marsupials). They are Dizzy (a neutered male), his mate Squeezles, and their three daughters from before Dizzy was neutered - Blinkers, Bonkers, and Bitty. They all live in a six foot tall cage. And they're spoiled rotten.

My two ancient Lady Gouldian finches refused to be photographed together, but they both look pretty much the same anyhow. This is Dingo.

Now if we include pets that have adopted my home, this is Tom. Still MIA for the winter.

Gotta love Scrappy's rebelious attitude. The person who took this photo was standing outside on the deck and didn't use a zoom lens. She's absolutely fearless. Broad daylight, no less.

Clover the woodchuck/groundhog has lived here for years.

Dave also has two ferrets in his room named Munchies and QuarterPounderWithCheese.

Wow rave I love your zoo!!!!! How did you get sugar gliders?? Do they sell them as pets in USA?????

They do sell them in the US, but they shouldn't. There are unscrupulous mills that sell you a bill of goods about how easy they are to care for, when in reality, nothing could be further from the truth. They are very high maintenance. Appropriate housing is very expensive, as is an exotic vet, and their diet which needs to include fresh fruits, vegetables, and proteins such as insects. It's also very important that their diet is calcium and phosphorus balanced. They live as long as a dog or cat, and must not be kept singly or they can become depressed enough to self-mutilate. Not good pets.

The best place to research them is:

SugarGlider.com

Very interesting. Kinda sad though that people will impulse buy things like this without researching it first. Just the little that I have read..... they don't make the best pets. Especially with small kids. I admire you for having the patience and love for such a special creature.

Yes I must admit I was shocked you have them as pets!! Sugar glider in far north Queensland have reduced in numbers due to their habitat being cut down for humans building new estates. Also in FNQ a proposal for a hydro electric damn was refused based on the sugar gliders inhabiting that area in substantial numbers. They are sensitive and adorable and it's sad to see them sold as pets and kept in cages. But your Aussie mates look pretty happy in their digs :)

These things are sold like Ginsu knives at fairs and home shows and malls. My son bought me Dizzy as a gift. That's when I hopped on SugarGlider.com and found out what I was in for.

I'm a sucker for critters - and they all know it. But thank you.

I knew what it was. We've got otters in our lake from time to time. I was just sayin rodents snakes and spiders R2 cute. We've got a Golden Orb spider here that's absolutley beautiful. They're huge and sometimes spin a web on my porch. I love to sit and watch them while I drink coffee. And then there's the old expression "cute as a bug" lol. Sometimes the curious black snakes come up and sit beside me watching me work on equipment. Beauty truley is in the eye of the beholder.
Hey, Wuzz; I like the Golden Orb spiders as well, and I too leave them when they spin on the edge of my porch or deck. (I do draw the line at any home building across my walkways: spiders are cool, but spider webs cause me to do the "chick-dance", complete with the chant of "getitoff, getitoff"). We didn't have very many last summer; maybe because the landlord had to treat for carpenter bees, but I'm hoping for a better showing this year.

Aargh! I can't seem to download an image here. I followed Imagine's instructions on the old thread, post #19108, but it just doesn't work. I have pictures in Photobucket. I have a Mac, which might make a difference. I get to the point when I paste the URL into the box, and click OK, and then it says "invalid URL." What am I doing wrong? I used to be able to download images till ECF made these changes no one liked back in December, I think it was. Then I could only get really tiny thumbnails to post. Now, nothing. What am I doing wrong?
