o yeahh, good stuff! Really can't wait to give it a try. challenge for me will be to see if a 3/4 wrap of 30 AWG will create enough heat to get the glass hot enough....
I'm wondering about mechanical mods too. I just setup a 9 wrap 28awg Nichrome 1.6Ohm coil on my DID for the Zmax to run in dual battery mode at an indicated 8-9Watts, which is closer to 15Watts, a lot of the lower ohms wire heating transfer to the wick is wasted due to it's "round" nature. was just thinking about compression rolling the 28awg to a flatter "tape" or all least oval form to optimize heat transfer to the Pyrex on a low ohm mechanical mod setup,
5/6 coil of nichrome on a 3.4mm wick or Pyrex tube is around 0.9 Ohms, and with the wire rolled/compressed flat it should work great with a variety of resistance wire gauges used for high watts on 3.7v mods.

Man that is a great idea, a flattened coil like a stove heating element, very good.

You friendly local Jewellery designer/maker (I have one friend who fits the bill) can hook you up with a bit of wire squashing and rolling. Flat wire tight against the tube should also be less affected by cooling from airflow.
Dear Santa,

......thinwall Pyrex tubing..............glass cutting tools.................some kind of "wire roller machine" studiovap mentioned on ECF....,...

Sincerely,

VaporMizer :D

Small clear device fuses ( the thin gauge slow blow or fast blow ones) are often pyrex or ceramic, and should be available at leading edge or other local electronics suppliers, don't know what sizes until tomorrow, but should be an option to have a play with this concept before ordering online.

from what I've seen on the website the glass is fast heating and fast cooling! Thats a plus...

That looks as though vapor production is occuring from the top and bottom of the wick. I am assuming none of the glass from the fuse housing is extending into the tank sinse you said it was 4.5mm? that is what I want to achieve, just isolate the coil only without the tubing running into the tank. Awesome idea MCU. When the world wakes up it's time to go to the auto parts store!!!:D

It is a short length that covers the exposed wick and does NOT go into the tank. The 4.5mm is the width which is a bit wide and is difficult to screw on the metal top cap without shorting the coils to the cap and center post. It's just a test. better to use what Dan is using, 3mm tubing.
