This one is spendy but its thickness is .5mm
Damn I just payed $29 for 4ft shipped.
Yeah, I ordered stuff from an "industrial supplier" (can't recall which one it was at the moment) a while ago and they did the same thing. Their shipping wasn't very expensive (wasn't very cheap either, IIRC).
I guess if shipping is $60.00 the jokes on us.
Just checked email.
Whew I feel better now.
Subtotal $4.80 Shipping & Handling $0.00 Grand Total $4.80
This is the diamond cut off wheel I use to manually polish the ends of the tubes.
I do not flame polish any more, and do not attach the wheel to a dremel. I hand sand the ends with the flat side of the wheel until it is flat and no cracks or chips are visable.

Didn't charge me anything... yet. UPS ground too.
so we do not know the shipping cost of the second company correct?
btw, in the ihybrid thread, the maker is discussing a anodized aluminum tube that he is making currently that would take the place of the glass/quartz that we are using. It might heat up faster and not be prone to breaking.
thoughts?
good find TB!
here's the details on shipping -- maybe we can request USPS
"All orders will ship via UPS Ground (unless specified different by you) shipping cost will be calculated at time of shipment and added to invoice. The detailed invoice will be attached to the box along with the packing slip."
I hope they are talking about bulk orders. Oh well LOL we'll see. Sounds like a good case for a 'bait and switch'.
Yo! Snap me off a couple pieces when you get itoh well, order placed![]()
Now I have a use for those burned out twinkle Christmas light bulbs. Which leads to this thought. Suppose the coil were placed inside of the tubing, with some number of mesh layers wrapped outside of the glass tube? Seems to me this could be more efficient since less heat would be lost to the air. Downsides off the top of my head would be increased diameter and a more complicated coil particularly if one end of the tube were sealed off as in my light bulb example.
Think I'll hang the lights this weekend!
And don't use any beads!!
Their made with soft glass which will shock much easier than boro glass.
