I suspected caramel since I had some NF a while back and knew that organic flavorings, esp creamy ones like caramel had some naturally occurring diacetyl, so I figured others would?did anyone know Carmel was risky?
I bet it's much more common for vendors to trust the flavoring companies that claim a flavoring is diacetyl free than actually test them.
Well it's a about time to try a new RY4. I've been wanting to order the Indigo varieties, but Mr E's comes highly recommended around the boards lately also. Decisions, decisions.
I'm really looking forward to trying Indigo.
Also, will be watching this thread for reactions to the reformulated Full Virginia Flake RY4 from MOV that recently became available. For the people who loved the original version, I hope it's pretty much the same. For my own selfish reasons, I hope it's quite different.

Me too. I have no plans to order the new version, but---knowing Steve at MOV a little---I'll bet it's nearly a dead ringer for the original FVFRY4. Given your sophisticated palate, though, Jerms---and I mean that sincerely with not a hint of sarcasm---I wouldn't be surprised if you notice that the buttery quality you weren't thrilled with in the original diminishes some in the reformulated version.
I'm personally more interested in the reformulation of Gambler, although I can't say for sure that I'll buy that either. Fool that I am, I'll probably continue to vape the "toxic diacetyl" version, since I like it.
Lomb,
Another good classic RY4 you might like to try is Volt RY4. It is almost in between Mr Vapes and Butterfly. Volt has more flavor than Butterfly's RY4, but is still gentle on coils. Mr. Vapes is slightly harsher on coils (cartomizers last about a week in my tank), but Mr Vapes has a richer flavor. I like how Volt behaves and tastes. It would be a good addition, in line with the flavors you like.
And at $13.95 for 30ml, it won't break the budget.

specs: The 15ml glass dropper-topped bottle of Indigo RY that IndigoVapor sent me free for review contains a golden-colored transparent liquid at 18mg nic strength in a 50/50 PG/VG base blend. The scent is very faint, almost non-existent. I let the juice steep for a week before testing and review. Testing was done using a 2.5 ohm Smoktech dual-coil carto powered by a variable-wattage VAMO set to 8.5 watts RMS.
The IndigoVapor web-page description states:
RY4 done the Indigo Vapor way! Indulge in this perfect melding of caramel, vanilla and a rich complex tobacco.
Pick this up and put down your other RY4's.
Indulgent indeed. IndigoVapor Indigo RY is a Custom RY4 with very rich flavors. The tobacco doesnt dominate, but it makes its ample presence felt with a throat hit of unusually solid impact for 18mg nic. I like that, by the way. The initial flavor on inhale is a very strong vanilla that dances with (and leads) a somewhat lighter caramel. As I draw the vapor into my lungs, I sense the tobacco base wrapper, which persists through the exhale. I like this tobacco very much. It has bite and depth of flavor with no errant notes. The juice has no nuttiness and no sourness. Its not a dessert RY4, because its rich rather than sweet.
Somewhere in all this flavor is another taste I cant quite identify. It may be part of the complex vanilla ingredient, or perhaps a by-product of the interaction of all three flavor elements. Whatever that flavor is, it complements the overall profile nicely and does not distract from enjoyment, adding a slight mystery to the experience.
The ingredient flavors are not totally melded, but not distinctly separate, either. If this were a vegetable soup, we might say that the liquid is a puree made from some of the cooked vegetables, but the rest are added as individual pieces. This way, we taste all the vegetables in every bite through the pureed base, but any individual bite is likely to contain discrete vegetable chunks. In a vaping liquid, this means that the flavors harmonize well, but dont meld or dissolve into each other.
I wrote recently that the future of RY4 belongs almost completely to the Custom variant. The Classics are still very good juices and maintain a lineage that we can now call "traditional," but Customs are where all the new creativity is expressed. Indigo RY is a prime example of this evolution. It is an excellent and delicious Custom RY4---simply superb. Indigo RY earns my highest recommendation. My thanks to the folks at IndigoVapor for sending me such a terrific juice for review. I hope they're flooded with orders from RY4 lovers.

Bill,
Just popped this one open fresh out of vapemail and is that mystery flavor a little cinnamon?
This is certainly a distinct RY4. I get the vanilla pretty strong, the caramel is a little more subdued but it's there as well. If I had to describe this RY4 in one word, I think it would be "brisk." It's a winner though, and why wouldn't it be as a B+ on the big list?
I'm letting the Indigo Classic and Eastwood breathe some, but I'm particularly looking forward to those two.
What are your favorite tweaks and such for RY4 - Double?

I also am looking forward to any reviews of the new FVFRY4 formulation. With 40+ ml of the original there will not be a re-order anytime soon.
If the new reviews declare it remarkably different, then I will put my original on a v e r y s l o w vaping routine to make it last.
Unless of course it is remarkably better, whatever that means, 'cause I don't know how it could be better.![]()
I really am impressed with MOV's totally re-formulated synthetic tobaccos. I don't know if "Gambler" is considered an RY4 by our terms but it sure does strike me as a great Custom RY4. Right now, Gambler is getting more of my vape time than any other RY4.
