She fought back. But I got it where it works.

I'm getting more vapor from my 50/50 juices. Flavor is slightly heightened. But that might be psychological. I haven't compared it with the same juice on Nichrome

Overall I'm happy. I'll vape it through the day and report baaaack

Everybody should buy (from now on) from Jacob's, and add a comment that you're vapin' it. Maybe we can nudge him towards investing in some other gauges. ;)

just a thought ↑ . . . his prices are same/better than what I've seen on E-bay and such.

Jacobs Online Nichrome & Rene 41 Wire

I let him know what I purchased it for and got a reply today.

He knows it is catching on here.
He is interested in feedback from anyone using it for vaping.
Several thousand dollars he has to order at once.
He tried flattening it into ribbon (mentioned trying this when mine arrives) but its fracture point is barely above its yield point so he could only barely flatten before it shattered.

Read this:

Grain growth will be encountered at temperatures above gamma prime solvus temperatures. If fine grain size and best tensile ductility are desired, the solution treatment should be executed in the range of 1900/1925°F (1038/1052°C), hold 4 hrs at temperature, then air cool.
Stress rupture properties may be improved if a temperature "above solvus" is employed - 1975°F (1080°C), hold 1 hour, then air cool.
In general, high temperature treatments should be avoided.
If the M6C carbide, normally present in this alloy, is solutioned by treating above 2100°F (1149°C), it will precipitate during cooling or aging as M23C6,a continuous grain boundary film which results in low ductility. Resolutioning - at least 1800°F (982°C) and preferably 1900°F (1038°C) - is required to restore ductility by reforming M6C.

Precipitation Hardening Treatment
Heat to 1400°F (760°C), hold at heat for 16 hrs, then air cool. Hardness will be in the Rockwell C 40/45 range.

These temps are within a kiln's range.
Going to have to find someone with a kiln.
Really want to try making ribbon out of it

Slight adjustments make a big difference. Tried "option B" on Xobe's crown of thorns suggestion. Tighter ID (#53), added 1/2 a wrap, and made a concerted effort to get those coils packed closer together (failed on the last wrap). I think its up a bit higher, maybe. Anyway, lots more flavor and more acidic + TH. Generally much more vibrant. We've all seen this with regular micros; its nice to see it reflected so clearly in a behemoth like this. Still @ 0.5Ω.

(the last pic is yesterday's version, just threw it back up for comparison)

did manage to twist it tighter too.

sheesh . . . . this atty is getting pretty beat up. ;>) . . . says the screw.

Lookin great Mr. Dibs!

Glad you like it Jerms! I'm going to need to order more soon. My desire to tinker outweighed the cost of the wire. I just keep building things!

But get this...

I had my first R41 coil pop tonight!

Coiled a standard 8/9 wrap, and it was firing a bit uneven. Squeezed it a bit, re-fired, and that Sommabinch lit up like a supernova and the coil split dead center. Never seen a short in the center of a coil before!

Not discouraged, and re-spun a new one w/ no issues... Startled me a bit though.

^ I remember when one of my RBA pix had a cat hair in it and I don't even have a cat :)

That is a rugged looking build pdib. I haven't had a chance to roll me a coil yet but look forward :)

Shot thru cyberspace with my iGun :)

actually, its not a cat hair. I had a bit of floss on to skew the air hole for the previous build. It is "air hole adjustment floss residue", to be quite precise. :p

(i had no idea you vaped your cat, Supe)

well, look here, Xo, ya frickin' monkey. I need to tell you that that there coil is rockin' some serious, serious ayss steam! Excellent flavor, clouds like when Mt. St. Helens blew it's wad, and great fire-up time. As I exhale, enjoying the terrific flavor, just when I figure the steam has got to stop billowing out of my lungs pretty dang soon now . . . any time . . . and I still get more steam . . . and I think, "that is a lot of steam" . . . .. . some more comes out. Anyway. That's a good coil there.

so, again, thanks for the idea :)

Get my order today, rippin a 9 wrap micro on the octopus. Cotton, of course. Mbv twilight, and you really can taste the whole thing! This is tough wire! Heat and squeeze just does nothing. I screw wrapped the first one, couldn't get much compression on it. Wrapped the second on a 1/16 bodkin very close, then just mounted it up. Looks great, vapes great, tastes great. I'm gonna say 10% better vape, 10% harder wrap.

Hmm, I didn't think it was that much harder to wrap. Granted I heated it briefly prior to wrapping like normal but I was expecting it to be a little more difficult. Definetly takes a little finesse to squeeze to coils together fire till glowing squeeze and hold numerous times but it is squezable, granted I do have 1 wrap slightly raised a touch.

This wire does blow crazy clouds though, makes my last little bit of a 50/50 juice vape like an all VG one. Weird but awesome all the same.

PS will post pics in the morning.
