Yeah that's my issue with nickel based wires, they taste off to me and then after a few hours of vaping it feels like I tried to deep throat a cactus. :(

would that be the giant spiney-type cactus? or the ones that look innocently fluffy until you touch it and have a zillion hair-needles stuck in you? (err... no! I never touched a cactus in such a way!)

Darn, leaves a big hole when that post is removed.....well maybe that was the whole intention.

Guess I could plug it for non bottom feed.

Although I think I would really like the Reo......wife maybe not so much me spending more on mods.

Maybe I should get a PO box.....darn she would recognize a different mod.

Better just get back to work now.

Posted this over in Reoland and figured I'd post it here too. Just because.

Well, my Rene 41 arrived in the mail today so I set out to make a coil...

From the way you guys was yakkin' I thought I'd be dealing with piano wire...melted my first coil torching it so I took the standard approach and just torched it regular like.

Wrapped it on an 18 gauge needle...you're right...it is difficult to work with but I found if I kept constant tension on it the coil would pretty much stay put (had a little straightening out one leg though). Did 10 wraps and mounted the coil (just a standard micro). Came out to .8 ohms so I cut the ends and wicked it (that's another thing...can't just cut it with my hobby snips...had to wiggle 'em off with my pliers...strong stuff).

And...the vape is pretty good. Good vapor and flavor. Liked it enough that I made another for my other Reo at around .89 ohms. I think I'll enjoy messing around with this stuff (I'd better for $.80 a foot).

Interesting how it turns black when dry burning...

I have one (bought it for the cap) and it's junk...lol. Rob does some serious modification to it to turn it into the Reomizer 2.0. The one I received had the positive connection pushed over and touching the negative connection on the 510 connector. It's designed for dual coils and there is very little room to work with. The middle portion has the airhole and it's in such a poor position you'd have to put long legs on your coil to get it anywhere near it.

It wasn't designed specifically for vaping. It was designed for...other things. As such, in it's original configuration it doesn't work very well as a vaping atomizer (yes...I tried it...). To be honest, I'm not even sure why Empire Mods is carrying it.

It would be possible to modify for vaping (duh...Rob does) but I don't think it would be worth the effort. The RM 2 is so much better.

So, unanswered questions . . . SLR, REO Grand v-drop and collapsing springs . . . . the spring collapses if/when your battery gets too hot. So, if you're using an appropriate battery (one with some hair on it's b-lls), no worries. I haven't gone below 0.4Ω; but that works fine. V-drop is typical. It's been measured at .62 and .66 volts on a .6Ω coil. I vape a 0.5Ω micro as my ADV on the Grand. (if the v-drop bothered me, I'd skip a wrap).

XObox answered the Silense/28g question. No need to buy another gauge.

Thank you Jeremy E. (2X 5 wraps of René 27 would put me at 0.25Ω . . .. . eek). I've done 2x 10 wraps (parallel dual, single wick) for .5Ω and it was just too crowded in there.

XObox . .. on your .7Ω crown of thorns, what ID did you wrap? I wanna try a .5Ω version.

BTW: Gary (Jacobs) and I have continued e-mailing. He is curious about what all we are doing down here. Gave him some links. I don't think he will change his mind on the René 41 multiple gauges thing (it really would be a massive investment/risk for him). But its very cool that he wants to know where things are at these days. He did say that, as he grows his business, he will consider this aspect, and the René thing.

I think the protective layer of polyfill/blue foam/triangle tea bag combined with MUCH LESS POWER meant it wasn't as much of an issue back then.
