OK, thanks XObox! It's a bit much, compared to 0.5Ω on a single coil (26 Nichrome). But its worth keeping in there for the work day tomorrow! Heavy & whatnot; but the airflow is good enough. It seems to heat up fast enough, too. A solid 6 wraps of twisted 27g René 41 on a 16 gauge needle (from Supe, = .066") is netting me 0.5Ω. Gonna vape it some more and see how it settles in!

I know its not twisted as hard as some I've seen. don't know if I care. pro'ly will care if I do more of them.

the tightness of the twist is personal preference really. tighter twist = more wire in a smaller area = more resist. May be counterproductive to your endstate to go any tighter unless you go tighter and drop a wrap.

Looks good man!

I dumped my crown of thorns for my wonky fingers in the crack coil ;)

Ok Monkey & Bee I'm taking the plunge.

"Confirmation of your order of Rene 41 resistance wire .014" 27ga, 20 ft, superalloy ultimate hot wire cutting..."

Will report after it is received and installed.

(Don't tell the wife --- she is out of town on business till Sunday night)

Thank you Jeremy E. (2X 5 wraps of René 27 would put me at 2.5Ω . . .. . eek). I've done 2x 10 wraps (parallel dual, single wick) for .5Ω and it was just too crowded in there.
.

Maybe try upping the ID closer to 2mm and go from there. I'm just spitballing bc my R41 hasn't arrived yet.

So, unanswered questions . . . SLR, REO Grand v-drop and collapsing springs . . . . the spring collapses if/when your battery gets too hot. So, if you're using an appropriate battery (one with some hair on it's b-lls), no worries. I haven't gone below 0.4Ω; but that works fine. V-drop is typical. It's been measured at .62 and .66 volts on a .6Ω coil. I vape a 0.5Ω micro as my ADV on the Grand. (if the v-drop bothered me, I'd skip a wrap).

XObox answered the Silense/28g question. No need to buy another gauge.

Thank you Jeremy E. (2X 5 wraps of René 27 would put me at 0.25Ω . . .. . eek). I've done 2x 10 wraps (parallel dual, single wick) for .5Ω and it was just too crowded in there.

XObox . .. on your .7Ω crown of thorns, what ID did you wrap? I wanna try a .5Ω version.

thanks so much for the answer. tells me im doing fine at .4v drop across 1ohm.

Also, don't forget that a good part of that voltage drop is from internal resistance of the battery.
People seem to neglect that when they talk about voltage drop this and voltage drop that.
