It is a sad, sad day at the Lazy G Ranch. Being older than the Red Wood Forest I very much look forward to the holidays with family and loved ones gathered around... all wishing for a early inheritance.

This year the old homestead will be minus one of my most beloved babies and I am distraught beyond description or human comprehension. It was only a short time ago that she was gently placed in that padded container, the lid closed and sent on her journey to the other side. Words of farewell were spoken whilst tears of endearment rolled down quivering cheeks.

And the question that many will eventually ask themselves rang hollow in the knowledge that it, as many things are, was asked over and over;

WHY OH WHY DID THE BUTTON ON MY VVG HAVE TO DIE RIGHT BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS!!!

The anguish will be interminable as she makes her way to the other side... the dreaded flatlands.

Go peacefully my sweet, be brave in the face of the unknown and always know that daddy loves you.

Alas, it will be a hollow Thanksgiving... except for vaping on all my other mods, football, food, scotch and ladies... did I mention food?

Jack

Sending condolances Mr. Jack. I'm living dangerously and hoping, hoping, hoping that mine won't stop working and, if one does, I'll have the other two as back up. I usualy have good luck but I may be temping the REO doGs too much. They could always pull a fast one on me, to teach me a lesson, and have all three fizzle out at the same time.

Good Day Fine REO Folk. Just a quick drop in. Lots to do. Stay safe and find and give some happy.

Hugs and love, Feisty Alice

I'm going to wake up Thanksgiving morning and go to work. I'm calling it Happy Time and a Half Day. :D

One place I worked paid double time and a half for major holidays. I always volunteered to work holidays!!! I worked deep night shift so was able to be home during family/friend festivities.

Karen I have been stalking you on all the threads today. Hope everyone is having a great day! DW is going in for neck surgery Wed, then going home on Thanksgiving. Kinda a strange thanksgiving. But in the past I have just been brought a plate of thanksgiving dinner to eat while on the air, so I am used to it.

Beaming healing and no (or lessened) pain. Certainly hope it helps. It took several years of proceedures for my neck but the last one has been the closest to much less pain as any. Just took some time. Please encourage her to rest. Will be thinking about you and yours and will light a candle to help "beaming."

Hugs, Feisty Alice

You guys ever make a Thanksgiving leftover pie? They're all kinds of awesome. Check it -

1. use the stuffing to line a pie pan, you can press it into shape against the bottom and sides of the pan
2. fill it up with whatever's left - peas, turkey, ham, cranberry sauce, corn, etc - and pour gravy over the top
3. top the pie with mashed potatoes until it's all sealed up

You can then wrap and freeze it, or throw it in the oven for a half hour or so until the stuffing and potatoes start to crisp up. SERIOUS YUMS AHEAD.

in another time and another place, you are right, Dave. We could have ruled the world!

Good news, good news, I have my Thanksgiving turkey, a beautiful 24 pound, dressed out bird!

Shunning the wussie ways of flatlanders I choose to go the manly route and actually hunt the entree of my holiday repast. Since the canyon I travel through to get to my abode is named Turkey Creek Canyon it should be obvious to even the most naive is primitive survival that the tasty fowl can be found in abundance.

Early this morn I donned my Vietnam era camouflage that Uncle Sam was nice enough to let me keep, retrieved a 12 gauge Browning, over and under from the safe and set out on my expedition.

Arriving at a likely looking hunting spot I was rather surprised to see how many other hunters had left their vehicles and were already in search of our common prey. (Us high altitude folk are a hearty bunch.)

I entered my decided upon hunting area, making my way past scores of other hunters who had chosen to reject the normal camouflage attire and try their luck dressed in non-specialized clothing. (Obviously a bunch of Pilgrims when it comes to the ways of the wild.)

Stealthily making my way to an area that would suit a turkey congregation I was rewarded in my efforts by the sight of at least 100 of my quarry huddled in a tight flock. I can only assume that their primitive defense systems were engaged since they limited their movement to a level that they appeared frozen in fear.

I carefully surveyed the flock, identified the plumpest bird, took careful aim and let loose a round of number 6 shot. My suspicions that the other hunters were inexperienced Pilgrims were confirmed when they scattered like little school girls at the sound of the shot, screaming and trampling each other as if the doors were opening at Walmart on Black Friday.

My joy in a successful hunt was somewhat diminished when the police issued me a summons for discharging a firearm in a public place and confiscated my gun. I am more displeased with Safeway for denying me my Constitutional rights of due process by immediately making me pay for the damaged freezer and banishing me from the store for eternity... plus three days.

All in all it was still a good hunting foray into the wilds of the Colorado mountains... I have my turkey.

Bon Appétit.

Evening everyone. :)

With all this talk of TG, I'm so ready for turkey and the fixings!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased some cheap, but good, bubbly yesterday to get in mood for making the two cranberry relishes. Bottle was empty before I knew it and it was 0300 when I put yummy concoctions in fridge to steep. Kitchen is a mess but, for a change, Bubs aren't interested in pulling things off counters. Guess they don't like cranberry, ginger, citrus chunks, bits, and smears. (We had one Mastiff who would knock drinks over (outside) to get to oranges, limes, and lemons.) I'm doing roasted radishes. Bubs haven't gone after them yet. Which reminds me.... they need to go in fridge. (I wash most veggies and give them a dip in bleach water when I bring them home; even lettuce. Cold/flu hooples are always on the lookout to pounce on me.)

I've ca:laugh:lmed down a bit now... Jack's story helped..

The man was here to take care of the mold issue, but not till about an hour ago. All he did was caulk around the toilet, said the sub floor wasn't damaged, maybe the landlord would put in an exhaust fan, but someone else would have to do that and someone else would have to replace the subfloor ( contradicting himself which he did all the time he was here) because he's not qualified, tho he's a licensed contractor/carpenter. Then he tried to say there was no mold, just condensation. oh, and the landlord said to tell me to just open the bathroom window ( which is a regular sized window right over the tub ( with wood trim!) whenever i took a shower or a bath.......in the middle of winter! So I'd be standing there buck naked with hot water raining down on me and cold, or really cold air blowing on my naked body!!!!!
Oh, and somebody licensed would come put in an exhaust fan.( but he's a licensed contractor/carpenter), or maybe someone would, or maybe the lanlords boyfriend would, maybe this summer ( they live in Missouri)

Up your way is making the news. Your area is only place where weather isn't nice. So sorry. Take care.

I basically kicked him out and told him to tell the landlord that if I got ill again from MOLD, first I'd go back to the DR. , then I'd go to a lawyer.

I am really ......!and hurt by her treatment of me. I just learned from this that you cannot be friends with a landlord, which I thought we were and I'm taking her off my FB.

rant done

for awhile

Bravo! Bravo! Who needs Safeway anyways? It's a free country and you don't "have" to shop there.

I can sympathize Jack. My silver vein vv grand will be traveling home over the holidays. At least it has my vv woodvil for company. I expect to see them interviewed on the news laid up somewhere at an airport along with some other poor schmucks who have had their flight cancelled/delayed like we see every year. Luckily the woodie's tears won't damage the finish since Rob put a nice new tung oil finish on it.

We're crossing all crossables that DH's flight home Wed night isn't delayed or cancelled. It gets delayed all the time and sometimes cancelled on Friday and Sat nights. The hotel keeps his room as was, every week, for several hours, because he has to return to hotel so frequently. His flights back are usually on a plane that has just arrived and then turns around less than an hour later to head back to Dallas. Airport is so small they don't have other planes to send out instead. (He doesn't like them to mess with or clean hotel room when he's there. It's kind of like strangers coming into your home and messing with your things. He has the same room every week and they bring him a special coffee pot and used to have his guitar in room, that he stored there. He gave the guitar to a muscian/security guard where he works.)

Hugs, Feisty Alice
