I'm sorry Kay  that didn't come out right. I'm not surprised at all by what happened, though I sure wish it had gone a different way. Maybe it's time to have your place inspected...by the professionals.

lol, I called a professional days ago...no return call!

I purchased some cheap, but good, bubbly yesterday to get in mood for making the two cranberry relishes. Bottle was empty before I knew it and it was 0300 when I put yummy concoctions in fridge to steep. Kitchen is a mess but, for a change, Bubs aren't interested in pulling things off counters. Guess they don't like cranberry, ginger, citrus chunks, bits, and smears. (We had one Mastiff who would knock drinks over (outside) to get to oranges, limes, and lemons.) I'm doing roasted radishes. Bubs haven't gone after them yet. Which reminds me.... they need to go in fridge. (I wash most veggies and give them a dip in bleach water when I bring them home; even lettuce. Cold/flu hopples are always on the lookout to pounce on me.)

Hugs, Feisty Alice

I've ca:laugh:lmed down a bit now... Jack's story helped..

The man was here to take care of the mold issue, but not till about an hour ago. All he did was caulk around the toilet, said the sub floor wasn't damaged, maybe the landlord would put in an exhaust fan, but someone else would have to do that and someone else would have to replace the subfloor ( contradicting himself which he did all the time he was here) because he's not qualified, tho he's a licensed contractor/carpenter. Then he tried to say there was no mold, just condensation. oh, and the landlord said to tell me to just open the bathroom window ( which is a regular sized window right over the tub ( with wood trim!) whenever i took a shower or a bath.......in the middle of winter! So I'd be standing there buck naked with hot water raining down on me and cold, or really cold air blowing on my naked body!!!!!
Oh, and somebody licensed would come put in an exhaust fan.( but he's a licensed contractor/carpenter), or maybe someone would, or maybe the lanlords boyfriend would, maybe this summer ( they live in Missouri)

. :grr:

I think I might be calling the States Attorney!

Okay...I have to git...I got errands to run and should have left hours ago. Been waiting.... giving my 11:30am appointment the benefit of the doubt, but they obviously stood me up. :glare: Need to move on to other things. On the bright side, I got my dad's phone bill taken care of, restaurant reservations for Friday made, phone call to ecigexpress made, arrangements made with my designer for live files, issuu files and split billing. *sigh* Now on to the second half of my to-do list. Be back later. :)

You guys ever make a Thanksgiving leftover pie? They're all kinds of awesome. Check it -

1. use the stuffing to line a pie pan, you can press it into shape against the bottom and sides of the pan
2. fill it up with whatever's left - peas, turkey, ham, cranberry sauce, corn, etc - and pour gravy over the top
3. top the pie with mashed potatoes until it's all sealed up

You can then wrap and freeze it, or throw it in the oven for a half hour or so until the stuffing and potatoes start to crisp up. SERIOUS YUMS AHEAD.

That sounds YUMMS for sure. Thanks. Maybe Bubs won't get leftover stuffing, mashed taters, and sides after all. I'm getting precooked Pick-up dinners from two different places; both have stuffing and mashed potatoes included. Peas/carrots from one place; fresh green beans from another. Green beans is not one of DH's favorite veggies (I know; wierd!) but I think he'll like them better in leftover pie. We'll have plenty of cranberry relish as I got one, fresh made "natural ingredients" from Sprouts and I made up about 2 quarts last night. (I did use agave nectar for both instead of refined sugar. Worked great.) I was going to use organic fresh whole cranberries until I saw the price. BTW... sorting thru washed cranberries to cull soft ones is very time consuming!!!!!

Sending condolances Mr. Jack. I'm living dangerously and hoping, hoping, hoping that mine won't stop working and, if one does, I'll have the other two as back up. I usualy have good luck but I may be temping the REO doGs too much. They could always pull a fast one on me, to teach me a lesson, and have all three fizzle out at the same time.

Good Day Fine REO Folk. Just a quick drop in. Lots to do. Stay safe and find and give some happy.

Hugs and love, Feisty Alice

I'm really, really tempting fate here. 1 of my VV woodvilles has completely stopped firing and another one only fires if it feels like it. That leaves me with one functioning VV Woodville at the moment. I went to the post office last week to send the 2 woods back and the freaking post office had NO boxes! I haven't been able to go back yet. I'm going to try again tomorrow and hope they have gotten some flat rate boxes in. Damn government operation.

I called just a bit ago, Lisa, got his voicemail again...

I feel for ya. A couple of years ago it took me from April until SEPTEMBER to get someone to come in and put in a new AC and heating unit in my house. I couldn't wave a stack of bills under anybody's nose and get them to come replace it. Crazy!!

my neighbor just gave me some bacon for the green beans mmmmmmmm!!!!

Howdy Dearest Sonny. So glad you are wrangling up T-day feast for you and Mr. O. If you were closer I'd pick you up to feast all day, snooze in recliner, and watch FOOBALL with us.

I just remembered the only way DH likes green beans. Old time southern cooks and taste buds dictate green beans be cooked down to almost mush with salty pork back the whole time. (That goes for most veggies.) Beans have to be fresh and not canned, too. Funny that that's the only veggie he has to have so way over cooked. One of his favorite veggies is brussle sprouts (Jen :toast:). Couple weeks ago we discovered a new to us way of cooking them and they definitely aren't over cooked and mushy.

Slice b.sprouts thinly, top to bottom.
Heat butter or oil on low-medium (we prefer olive oil but I added a sprinkle of ButterBuds powder last few minutes)
Brown b.sprouts lightly, flipping each, individually, over a few times until just softened. (That's time consuming.)
Salt and pepper when still hot.

Pretty yummy if one likes brussel sprouts.

Hugs, Alice mom

Of course fresh veggies and not over cooked is best for us but due to time issues we frequently do frozen veggies. One of the best brands I've found is PicSweet; good prices. And many PicSweet frozen veggies have less sodium than others. Our Walmart has the best selection, especially the "individual" boxes (they really are two servings, though). Their Brussel Sprouts are better than most brands and don't get mushy/over cooked. B.sprouts are best not over cooked and get more bitter the more they are cooked. I like them a lot but unlike other veggies similar to them, like cabbage, cauliflower, etc. I can only eat a few before I get nauseated. The cooking smell doesn't bother me. Don't know why it happens. DH doesn't mind as there are more for him.

Brussel Sprouts were banned by the Geneva Convention, along with torture and chemical warfare... they forgot to include Broccoli.
