Although I tend to be slightly opinionated and a bit set in my ways I always have an open mind when it comes to constructive suggestions. In this vein I seriously considered all of the discussion concerning vegetables and their beneficiary effect they have on one's health so I am both proud, and pleased to announce that for dinner I had the following;

Tomatoes

Lettuce

Onion

Pickles

Cheese

Beef

and Grains

To make them an even more appetizing evening repast they were cleverly combined into a Sonic Double Cheeseburger. HEY, the kids brought it to me, it would have been impolite not to eat it.

By jove, I do believe I feel healthier already! You people are life savers.

Renegade T-rex that is eating our house has been quiet for past few days. It just started up; just now. We think it must be a mouse inside wall and not a rat as it moved the whole length of a 30 ft wall and to another with no holes in wall or chewed furniture after looking closely. It has to be pretty small as it has to go through holes in studs just big enough for the wiring to go through. But on second thought, I have seen rats get through tiny openings. It sure is loud!!!!!! It can't come from outside as all brick and concrete so must have come down from attic, through second story walls. Not sure what to do other than make sure fire/smoke alarms are functioning propery in case it eats wiring that could set fire. Oh dear me.

On a positive note.... I have some of the Ionic Breezes going near recliners (to help with mold spores) and I think it's helping. Need to replace the UV lamps in them.

DH and I have always considered a lot of the "black mold" scare to be hysteria. But after I told him about Kay and pointed out about the water that comes down on me from flat roof when it rains hard, and his sneezing fits, he was pleased that I put "those damn black things that get in the way" back in place. We have so much dust that they buzz and need cleaning so often. But I haven't had them set up since we quit analogs so maybe I won't need to clean them as often. It was amazing how much analog goo had to be cleaned off of metal collectors. And a simple wipe wouldn't buge it. Imagine what our lungs looked like.

If it makes you feel any better......... past few weeks DH makes a morning trip to McDonalds, on Sat or Sun mornings, and brings home 10 McMuffins (and an OJ and coffee for me) that we have for breakfast during week. (A certain first lady doesn't consider them to be a healthy food.) Most mornings we have them with milk and V-8 so we are being sorta good.

All this food talk........... I'm going to order some Kentucky Cured Country Ham from my home county and some beaten biscuits, for Christmas holidays. My folks used to send us a whole ham for Christmas in time for me to hang it in the kitchen for a month or more as decore and aroma before cutting and/or boiling. It and beatin bisquits were a required part of Christmas holidays and parties when I was growing up. As I don't "have" a butcher any more I'm going to get some smaller cuts. Kentucky cured hams are very different from any other curing process. They are very salty. Don't confuse Virginia Cured hams with Kentucky Cured hams. Best Red-eye gravy is made from Kentucky Cured Ham drippings.

Gonna order some of these, too. We used to stop by the little shop in Frankfort to get these. How I fell in love with dark chocolate. Rebecca Ruth bourbon balls.

One of the recipes, in readers comments mentions gathering black walnuts in fall and layering them on drive way for car to go over and over to break the green husk away. I thought all walnuts tasted like those native walnuts we ate and cooked with. I have yet to have any as good. They tasted like they had been soaked in bourbon right out of shell. Imagine my surprise when I had my first non-black walnut. It had practically no taste.

We have black walnut trees here but they don't produce like the ones in Kentucky. Hardly enough meat to warrant the trouble. The squirrels certainly love them.

Alice, I love Country Ham but haven't had it in years. It reminds me of Scotch Ham that we use to have when I was growing up.

So thanks for the link. My x use to bring back a whole country ham when he would visit family in TN. We use to hang it in the garage.

They are really ugly to those who don't "know" them aren't they? E YEW ........ covered in mold!!! I always thought they were beautiful and proudly displayed our ham, open, in the kitchen. Pulling it down, and scrubbing it was sort of sad but the rewards far outweighed that. The closest thing I've had, in years, is Prosciutto but something is missing. What we put on beatin biscuits was almost as thinly sliced though. Just last week I picked up some Prosciutto at Whole Foods just to peel pieces off, every once in a while to savor while feeling warm and fuzzy.

Here's a place to get black walnuts. Reviews are good. Hope so. They are going to have to be great to meet my expectations. I think I've ordered some nuts from this place in past.

@jack, if you have a photobucket acct you can search for smilies there. just right click and save them to your album. same if you see one you like here
I said that
BIG_SM117.gif

sorry they changed it you dont right click anymore you click on the gear at the top right of the smilie and choose copy and then copy to your library. you still right click here and choose upload to photobucket
I didn't like the new photobucket so I switched back

Pietro told me how to do that but I didn't believe him, he's always lying to me just to make me look worse than I already do. I'll take your word for it though, unlike him, you're trustworthy... but I still wouldn't let you near my daughter. (Where the hell is a great smily when I need it!!!)
Jack
See I told you so

Take an outlet cover off of the wall you hear him on. Dump a box of Dcon pellets in. Replace outlet cover. Scratching will stop in a day or so.
