To reiterate what has already been said, Ed ... take 'er easy and get some rest! Sounds like there are a few hard days ahead for a whole lot of folks. :( Especially ugly that so many are without power at this time of year. To all the good men and women out there driving themselves to exhaustion to get roads cleared so that emergency vehicles and hydro people can get out there and do their jobs ... our thoughts and prayers are with you all!

I needed to post this separately because this is a bit of a rant. Hope you all don't mind but I need to get it off my chest and ... well ... this seemed like the safest place to do it.

Our 14 mth old, 65 lb pup got spayed on Thursday. She was doing absolutely fantastic with her recovery. I couldn't believe how well she was bouncing back. Too well actually. Much too energetic and knew that hardest part was going to be keeping her quiet for the next week or so. Anyway, I had to leave this afternoon and spend a good portion of the rest of the day with the MIL doing stuff for and with her. I get home tonight and Cleo (the dog) is unusually subdued meeting me. Then my DH tells me that he was out in the yard doing stuff and not paying enough attention to her and he heard her yelp a couple of times. He checked her over and noticed there was a small drop of watery blood at the end of her incision. When I came home and he rolled her over to show me and touched the side of the incision there, a couple more drops of watery blood came out. It stopped again and there hasn't been any since but she is very obviously not herself and in pain again. I'm afraid that some internal stitch or two has popped. We'll definitely be watching her closely tomorrow but I am so choked with DH!! I can't be too mad at him to his face because he feels bad enough but ... for crying out loud!!! We could barely afford the spaying fee much less any complications to say nothing of how this is affecting our poor girl. Will just keep all fingers and toes crossed that this resolves itself, I guess.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Geez, Penny....I'm so sorry. She just may need some more down time. You can call any vet or emergency vet and explain the situation, including the not having enough money to pay for another vet bill. Someone is bound to tell you over the phone what you can do. That's what I did recently.

I used quartered tabs of tramadol for pain for Jas....but she's a 5lb dog. Be sure to ask the bet what household meds may be useful.

Good morning, Reoville! Off to Clinton today to tend to my mother in the assisted living center (3 hour round trip).

Sigh.

Your a good son!

Morning REOville. I hope everyone who might be ill gets better soon and the storm is well over for you who might have been in its path.

Well I need more coffee and to get ready for another day of the marathon. In case of zombie breakout just call Sashie a gal who knows her way around a gun......now thats a turn on.

Happy Sunday, Reoville! Wish I didn't keep these vampire hours, shoving off to bed when the rest of world's waking up -- I'd chat more with my fellow squonkers. Makes me feel a bit creepy reading about you all while you're fast asleep:p (never been on any forum/message board before, but guess that's par for the course). I do want to wish all my best to those of you digging out after the Big Snowfall. I haven't seen a snowflake since college, 10 years ago, and miss it so. Spent those 4 years right in the middle of Iowa, Grinnell, and totally adored the snow. The buggy summers were loads tougher to takes than the coldest of winters. Hope my nostalgic snow-love's not obnoxious as all get out to those of you up to your ears in it:blush:! For any of you fellow dog fanatics, the Westminster Dog Show's on tomorrow. Although I volunteer with rescue dog adoption, all the dog shows are just about my only must-see tv. I got to meet 2004's Newfoundland winner, Josh, and it was like meeting a movie star:oops:! Well, time to hit the hay. But here's some of Josh, in all his furry glory, for any pup-nut squonkers out there:

(really is worth a gander. WOOOF!:D)

We had the same situation occur when we had our lab/mix spayed a few months ago. It was what they called a suture reaction and cleared up very quickly with antibiotics.
