Good (insert time of day here) REOvillians!
It was a very rough day yesterday. One of the xray's in ortho was down, and the way they run the clinic is that each day is a different clinic. So Monday is lower body, Tuesday is arms.. etc. Last Monday was a holiday, so they have all the regular appts, plus all the trauma from the past two weeks, plus all the post-ops. It was an overbooked clinic to say the least!
I hadn't left the house since surgery, and use my walker at home but took the crutches to the clinic. I ended up not only having to make my way to the clinic, but then to the hospital for xray and back. It was exhausting, it took all day as they were behind, and the drive is long. I was so exhausted when I got home I just went to sleep and didn't even fire up the computer.
The pain begins, or rather, never ends. My knee hasn't extended fully in a long time due to the bone being in the way, and the muscles are sore from being stretched when I fell. But, I have to get the movement back so need to move the knee. The doc said I have a LOT of scar tissue from the 4 surgeries that needs to be broken up, but that when I fell most of the sounds I heard was mostly likely scar tissue tearing up so it may have been a blessing since I was on the nerve block and couldn't feel it. She said they sometimes will put a patient under and break it up to get the movement back, but I seem to have started that process inadvertently since I can bend to about 85 degrees (I was 90 before surgery). The xray looked good, with only one part of bone iffy (dead!) and they will look at it again in 4 weeks to see how it goes, with possibly another MRI to see if it is more bone (dead or loose bodies) in there than there should be.
So, that is the update. I have been walking a lot more today and keeping the heating pad on it while I extend it and bend it to loosen it up. Surprisingly, no PT was ordered? Maybe because I did so much by myself already? Oh, and my left thigh is 2" smaller than the right and I may never get that back.

I have seen a lot of the country is having terrible storms! I hope everyone in the storm path is safe, and that Jack is getting the snow he needs. I guess this is going to be good in the long run after last year's drought, but sure do wish you didn't get it all at once!
Stay safe everyone, stay warm, and take care of each other.
