Just got my VV Reo Grand in the mail today! Whoot Whoot I am almost afraid to use it. Just ordered a ceramic drip tip for it. Does anyone know if the ceramic or beautiful stone drip tips get cold like the aluminum ones? I live in Northern MI and there is still about a foot of snow on the ground. And don't like the metal tips because they get so cold!

I use Ceramic here in Colorado, but not for the cold. I use short carto's and it helps with the heat for me. I prefer them over anything else. Too cheap to buy that fancy stuff.

Good avatar, RocketRod.

Good morning, Reonuts. Had a very nice lady show up for another dance lesson, at 6:40, had already been there since 4:30 giving lessons. After her lesson ended up dancing with her 'till midnight when she had to leave. (Some lame excuse about having to get up for work). Hung around to dance for another hour then an hour drive home.

Apparently my body is starting to rebel against me today. See what you're in for Darrel, creaks, groans, ear shattering screams... and that's just when trying to get out of bed. Advanced age is wonderful... if you happen to be a bottle of wine.

Did I say good morning?

Alice, Alameda has many dead zones due to having so many military bases around here. Even though most of them have been closed down we still have the Coast Guard and there are still a few training centers here. I'm not in a "dead zone" per-say but the signal is still weak. I normally have to go outside to get a half-way decent signal so I can understand what the caller is saying comfortably. My daughter is about 16 miles from me and my signal there is way better than at home.

We are a mile from one of the largest TV tower "forest" in the US. Bunches of different bands and waves coming off those towers. Different signals play hell with a lot of RF devices in my house. Two of my fans, with RF controls at ceiling, up about 20 ft, and almost clear line from towers with big window at that level are "haunted." Lights and fans turn off and on at "will" including changing fan speeds and lights going different brightnesses. Before digital Tv broadcast we could get only a couple of analog TV signals with even a big antenna and virtually no Radio FM and only a few AM. When we first moved here we had to put up a huge satellite dish collector and got raido stations via Satellite. I stared using wi-fi in house long before most people knew such a thing existed. I used proprietaty, not public, bandwith. Choosing bandwith for any wireless applications out here is always trail and error even today. Sprint has the best signal out here in most places but no carrier gets a good signal near our house. But there are spots up our mile long road that vary greaty.

The Wilson booster has been a miracle! !!!!!! If you get any signal at all it can boost it significally. Before I set it up our bars on different phones and carriers were best at 1, most usually 0. And yes we are very familiar with going out to front yard to even make calls but only for a few minutes before they were dropped. 3G signal has always been better than voice. I got the desktop inside antenna (that connects to the powered booster that connects to small outside antenna) and itthe inside antenna is best for cell signal at a few feet from it but in living room, 20 ft from the desktop antenna our bars went from virtually always 0 to a steady 3 and lots of times 4-5. The inside antenna is direction but signal is boosted all over the house and a little bit outside. It was <$300 but now we don't need the $50 a month very basic land line. Powered booster is on back up battery that will power it for hours when we lose electricity which is pretty common with such high winds and power lines running through forest. Sometimes it takes power co half a day or more to locate affected line and get to it. Btw.... there's more to data and voice cellular than just simply bars on a phone but keeping this non technical.

I was so impressed by the Wilson system I purchased one for car for when I'm at the farm. Phone has to be in holder, that is inside antenna, but I can do a small upgrade to use it similar to the one we have at home.

Hugs, Feisty Alice

I think I've made my final decision on where to move next...I was considering somewhere south cuz I'm sick of these winters, but I might just go back downstate where my GD's are and a few friends. I'm pretty sure it'll be an old folks home so I'll have company if I want or a sign on my door that says :" No ones home" " Sides, the old folks love to play euchre and they have lunch and dinners there every day!

I'll enjoy my little house and the flower gardens one more summer, then I'm outa here...
