Good morning, REOvil!
Another gorgeous rainy day here. Been fairly busy all week tackling the last of the boxes I never unpacked. Finally got through the boxes of tupperware and cat hair to rediscover all my cake pans, decorating doo-dads and uniforms. Also had a great doctor visit on Thursday. No more big brace and start physical therapy after Thanksgiving. He said even if I do need the additional screws I should be back to work in no more than 3-4 months time.
WoooHooo to the nth degree!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

That is great news all around Jen! Must be like your birthday rediscovering your baking tools. Not to mention the good doctor visit. :rickroll:
DH decided to reheat the chili for chilaquiles while I was asleep. I had it in my doufeu, which is a cousances (le creuset bought them out in the '50's and now uses their designs AND factory in their famous enamel cookware). This pot had never been burned before, in the last 30 years, because I use it as it is supposed to be used and has never had the stove burner turned above the medium low setting. Notice the word "had?" Now the chili is a total loss and my beloved pot is icky brown inside instead of a creamy white. And with these there is no going back from the color change. It will just look like I am the amateur that I am rather than the conscientious user of a quality kitchen tool. Because it is icky burnt color inside. Every time I use it I am going to cry a little inside. DH has retreated from the house and I know not where he went, but it was wise for him to have done so because I am very

I think I should have a cup of decaf with baileys to get through this anger and sadness at the loss.

Good Morning, Reoville!

> I had it in my doufeu, which is a cousances (le creuset

now, she's just messing with me...

:)

Nope. It is what it is:

Cousances - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and

Le Creuset Cast Iron Oval Doufeu | Williams-Sonoma
Crafted in France, this cast-iron oven takes its name from the combination of the French doux and feu to describe its “gentle fire.” Pronounced doo-FUH, it’s designed to provide the constant self-basting that yields a juicy roast thoroughly infused with flavor.
Cast iron coated with durable porcelain enamel distributes heat slowly and evenly.
Easy-clean nonreactive interior does not require seasoning.
Tight-fitting lid has a recess for ice cubes; warm vapor from simmering food meets the cool lid, promoting condensation, and nibs on the lid's underside direct the water droplets to the center of the pot, continually basting the food below.
Without ice, it works equally well as a Dutch oven for everyday roasting, simmering and serving.
Matching integral handles on the pan and lid assist lifting the heavy filled pan.

Smurf has one - not surprisingly she calls it a Dutch oven!

i have one small stud in my left ear, but because of my girly allergy to cheap metals and such it's a diamond and platinum one! I have 2 gold teeth as well and make sure i never yawn when HRH is within reach of pliers.

my ears are sensitive to certain metals to SS and silver are ok

ya both my ears have 2 holes my right ear has the cartilage pierced :)

That sounds painful! I have 3 in my left and 2 in my right. The top hole on the left has a neverending hoop, and the the next highest have diamonds with screwbacks. The lowest ones get changed out depending on what I am wearing. They are all in the lobe though.

Anything plated makes my ears itch and then weep. My belt buckle is covered in electrical tape to keep it from touching my skin too. Of course i ought to just buy a platinum belt buckle but i have rather more pressing things to do first!

Drilled out a cheap clone atty today at work and thieved some weatherstrip for the patio door here - today is cold :/

Have you tried platinum? It doesn't seem to react like other metals do.

I have a set of diamonds in platinum, not so hard to find?

I don't wear anymore I like to have my earlobes in one piece too dangerous in my job

Trunker I have a nice brass buckle but its a tracking companies buckle and too may tree huggers see it and freak out so I don't wear anymore its safer for them  I saw the other day the anti frackers posted an add looking for more protesters and especially needed drivers to get the people to the protest funny I don't know how they think the drivers can drive without oil

A dutch oven is a little different in the lid, it doesn't have the lid with the recess in it to hold the ice. I don't know if a dutch has a smooth surface on the inside of the lid or if it has the nibs like the doufeu. I can use the doufeu as both a self-baster to roast, or as a dutch. It's a beautiful thing. It is still just as usable now it has been burnt, it just doesn't look creamy white. The enamel survived intact but discolored.

In fact, just to rub salt into the wound, as he was cleaning it he says "the steel wool works wonderful on this". I knew he was just poking the bear on that, because he KNOWS no metal is to touch it's surface ever. I remained silent since what I would have said to him are words that are just as mean and cruel as him using steel wool on my beloved doufeu, both things that can never be taken back.
